Various injection materials, such as asphalt-based injection materials, urethane-based injection materials, cement- based injection materials, and acrylic-based injection materials, are used for the repair of aged conduits and underground structures with cracks. In this study, research was conducted on an environmentally friendly acrylic- based leak repair material that exhibits good curing properties even in humid conditions and stability in temperature fluctuations. To compare the performance of the improved acrylic leak repair material with the existing acrylate injection material, experiments were conducted using KS standard methods, including underwater length change rate tests, underwater leakage resistance tests, and chemical performance tests. The comparative experiments revealed that the improved acrylic leak repair material showed no changes in shrinkage due to humidity, temperature variations, or chemical reactions compared to the existing acrylate injection material. In the underwater resistance test, the improved acrylic leak repair material did not show any leakage. Additionally, to assess the environmental impact of the improved acrylic leak repair material, acute fish toxicity tests and acute oral toxicity tests were conducted, and the results showed no mortality and no specific concerns with the test specimens. The experimental results led to the conclusion that the improved acrylic leak repair material is considered to be superior in performance, environmentally safe, and harmless to the human body. Based on various experimental results, it is inferred that the improved acrylic leak repair material is suitable for use as a repair material for cracks in manholes and underground structures compared to the existing acrylate repair material. This study aims to propose valuable data for future technological development by evaluating the applicability of acrylic leak repair materials.
The results ok feeding experiments to the mice with ginseng extract, ginseng Powder, and ADAPTAGEN, for 30 days before X-ray irradiation and for 40 days after the X-ray irradiation at 750 rads were as follow: 1. The 50% lethals days (LD50, ) by the X-ray irradiation were 9 days at 1, 000 rads. 10 days at 900 rads, 11 days at 800 rads, 14 days at 760 rads, and 19 darts at 750 rads. Therefore, the standard radiation dose was set at 750 radb/8 min. 2. The 80% of the control group mice exposed to the X-ray radiation without ginseng feeding died in periods ranging from 14 to 24 days and the 20~30% of the ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding groups died. But the 100% of the mice fed with ADAPTAGEN survived. 3. Testicles of the control group became smaller in weight than the nomad group by 26.5 to 29.0% and those of the ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding group reduced by 44.6 to 60.4%. However, testicles of the ADAPTiIGEN feeding group increased in size by 77.4% to 87.1% and in weight by 61%, showing a recovery phenomenon approarhing to those of the ordinary mice. The ADAPTAGEN feeding group mice were also as active in color as the ordinary ones. 4. An electron micrograph(X8, 000X2.2) of the liver cells of the mice which had been 40 days after X-ray irradiation showed as follows; The control group appeared that is physiological action stopped due to the frequent occurrence of morphological change of the nucleus and diffusion of chromosome, reduction in microspores and expansion of microsomts, and endoplasmic change of mitochondria. The liver cells or the ADAPTAGEN feeding group were in a state similar to those of the ordinary mice restoring to normalcy In contrast, the liver cells of the ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding groups were still far from being normal. 5. A serological analysis showed that the control group sharply decreased in albumin, Y-g1obu1in, and IgG so far as to cause dystrophy and to weaken antibody resistance but that ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding groups, though in a little more restoring state than the control group, were still far from the normal group. The ADAPTAGEN feeding group restored to a state as comparable to the normal group in the contents of albumin ${\gamma}$-globulin, IgG and serum protein. In order words, it is noteworthy that ADAPTAGEN feeding was effective in revitalizing the destroyed cells of a living body and that it has the function of normalizing antibody components.
Although it is important to have high strength of each of fiber and matrix, interface between fiber and matrix is most important. If NaCl water penetrates the interface, that area will be weak. So experiment about increasing interfacial strength is in process. In this study, the change of properties by mechanical, interfacial and micromechanical tests was observed after NaCl and aging treatment. The changes in mechanical properties of glass fiber were investigated using single-fiber tensile test. Interfacial properties between glass fiber and epoxy resin were evaluated using nondestructive acoustic emission (AE) and micromechanical test applied to fatigue test. Through change of fatigue properties, relative interfacial properties were evaluate. In conclusion, glass fiber diameter decreased and the reduction of mechanical and interfacial was observed with NaCl solution and aging treatment.
The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the effectiveness of walking and band exercise for 12 weeks on c-reactive protein and cardiovascular disease risk factor in overweight and obese children. Body composition, blood lipids, insulin sensitivity, c-reactive protein (CRP) were assessed before, after 4 weeks and after 12 weeks of combined exercise. Sixteen participants (BMI${\geq}$21.3) were randomly allocated to exercise group (n=8) and control group (n=8). The exercise group participated in 50 minutes of walking exercise and band exercises as resistance training two days a week for 12 weeks. There were significant different on weight (p<0.001), BMI (p<0.001), fat mass (p<0.001), fat percentage (p<0.001), LBM percentage (p<0.001), TG (p<0.05), HDL-C (p<0.01), insulin (p<0.05), HOMA-IR (p<0.05) in exercise group after intervention. And the change of weight (p<0.001), BMI (p<0.001), fat mass (p<0.001), fat percentage (p<0.001), LBM mass (p<0.05), LBM percentage (p<0.001), insulin (p<0.05), HOMA-IR (p<0.05) were significant difference between groups after intervention. These findings suggest that 12 weeks of walking and band exercise can be useful intervention in the improvement of cardiovascular disease risk factor in overweight and obese children. But c-reactive protein was no change.
In this paper, we perform a numerical analysis to evaluate the potential of fault reactivation during gas production from hydrate bearing sediments and the moment magnitude of induced seismicity. For the numerical analysis, sequential coupling of TOUGH+Hydrate and FLAC3D was used and the change in effective stress and consequent geomechanical deformation including fault reactivation was simulated by assuming that Mohr-Coulomb shear resistance criterion is valid. From the test production simulation of 30 days, we showed that pore pressure reduction as well as effective stress change hardly induces the fault reactivation in the vicinity of a production well. We also investigated the influence of stress state conditions to a fault reactivation, and showed that normal fault stress regime, where vertical stress is relatively greater than horizontal, may have the largest potential for the reactivation. We tested one simulation that earthquake can be induced during gas production and calculated the moment magnitude of the seismicity. Our calculation presented that all the magnitudes from the calculation were negative values, which indicates that induced earthquakes can be grouped into micro-seismic and as small as hardly perceived by human beings. However, it should be noted that the current simulation was carried out using the highly simplified geometric model and assumptions such that the further simulations for a scheduled test production and commercial scale production considering complex geometric conditions may produce different results.
The effects of $TiO_2$ photocatalyst coating bead concentration, water-back-flushing period (FT), and back-flushing time (BT) were investigated in hybrid process of ceramic ultrafiltration and photocatalyst for advanced drinking water treatment in this study. Photocatalyst coating bead concentration was changed in the range of 10~40 g/L, FT in 2~10 min and BT in 6~30 sec. Then, we observed the effects on resistance of membrane fouling $(R_f)$, permeate flux (J) and total permeate volume $(V_{\Upsilon})$ during total filtration time of 180 min. As decreasing photocatalyst coating bead concentration, $R_f$ increased and J decreased. $V_{\Upsilon}$ was the highest value of 8.85 L at 40 g/L of photocatalyst coating bead concentration. At FT change experiment, $R_f$ decreased and J increased as decreasing FT. Then $R_f$ decreased and J increased according to increasing BT at BT change experiment. Because at NBF (no back-flushing) dramatic membrane fouling reduced membrane pore size, turbid and dissolved organic matters ($UV_{254}$ absorbance) could be removed efficiently. Therefore, treatment efficiencies of turbidity and dissolved organic matters were the highest at NBF. Then by cleaning effect of photocatalyst coating bead, the treatment efficiencies of turbidity and dissolved organic matters increased as decreasing FT and increasing BT.
The present study was performed to study the genetic relationship of productive life with production and type traits of Korean Holsteins at first three lactations. The data for the analysis from 56,054, 28,997, and 11,816 animals of first, second and third parity cows which were born from 2006 to 2011 were collected by Dairy Cattle Improvement Center, National Agricultural Co-operative Federation. Milk, protein and fat yields adjusted for 305 days and average somatic cell score considered as production traits and analyzed type traits were stature, strength, body depth, dairy form, rump angle, rump width, rear leg side view, foot angle, front attachment placement, rear attachment height, rear attachment width, udder cleft, udder depth, front teat placement and front teat length. A multi trait genetic analysis was performed using Wombat program with restricted maximum likelihood animal model composed of fixed effect of birth year, farm and the random effect of animal and random residual effect according to the traits. Heritability estimates of productive life were between 0.06 and 0.13. Genetic and phenotypic correlations between production and productive life traits ranged from 0.35 to 0.04 for milk, 0.16 to 0.05 for protein and 0.18 to 0.02 f 15-0034 (2nd) 150520 or fat. Somatic cells score showed a negative genetic and phenotypic correlation with productive life and also udder type traits, indicating that the selection for higher udder traits will likely to improve resistance to mastitis and persistence in the herd. Among all dairy form type traits, udder characters such as udder cleft showed a significant relationship with productive life. However, a specific change of heritabilities or correlations were not observed with the change of parity. Moreover, further studies are needed to further confirm the significance of the above traits and the effect of parity on above relationships in order to minimize both voluntary and involuntary culling rates while improving herd health and maintaining high yielding dairy cows.
Background and Objectives : Provox, a recently developed tracheoesophageal prosthesis, had been widely used for voice rehabilitation after total laryngectomy for its low resistance and easiness of speech ability. But, long-term use of Provox resulted in many complications and resulted in cessation of Provox as a primary method of vocal rehabilitation. The aim of this study is to report Provox-related problems and the long-term results of Provox voice prosthesis. Materials and Methods : Medical records from patients who had undergone total laryngectomy with Provox insertion at seoul National University Hospital between January 1993 and December 1998 were reviewed retrospectively. Results : 36 patients had used 79 Provox voice prostheses during the observed period. The most common complication causing prosthesis change or removal was leakage and/or aspiration, followed by granulation formation, crusting and/or obstruction, and non-function. Median in situ lifetime of Provox was 274 days and 1-year-in situ rate was 31.0% Among 36 patients, 17 patients had undergone tracheoesophageal shunt closure at the last follow-up visit. 10 patients had complications but got along without further treatments, and 1 patient changed to Blom-Singer voice prosthesis. Only 8 patients experienced no complication, and 5 out of whom had several times of Provox change. Conclusion : long-term use of Provox resulted in discontinuation of its use due to complications in many cases. A better voice prosthesis with lower complication rate and longer in situ lifetime is needed.
In this study, the energy conversion equipment from the radiation energy to mechanical energy by using npentane as the operating fluid was constructed and the performance to pump the water was tested for the utilization of solar powered water pump. The equipment was designed optimally, after the theoretical analyses of the water pumping head and water quantity per cycle were done. The pentane vapour temperature in the condenser and the temperature of the outlet water from the condenser became lowered and the heat transfer rate became higher with decreasing the water inlet level to the condenser. The temperature difference between the condenser and the water tank was significant. Therefore, the distance between the water tank and condenser was recommended to be shorten and the diameter of their connecting pipe was recommended to be narrow in order to reduce the resistance of the fluid passage and improve the heat transfer rate. The amount of water pumped was 1.62.4 liters. Mass flow rate of the cooling water became lowered when the cooling water pipe was prolonged from the condenser to improve the heat transfer rate.
