Aspirating or swallowing foreign bodies is a common occurrence. If they are wholly or partly radiopaque, their localization in and progress through the gastrointestinal tract can be more effective. Of the dental origin foreign materials swallowed, the most common things are fragments of anterior maxillary partial denture. But the radiopacity of denture base resins is not sufficient to determine the location of the objects. The purpose of this study was to develop a radiopaque dental acrylic resin, which has clinically detectible radiopacity with minimal change of mechanical properties and color. The radiopacity, color change(CIE 6..E) and microhardness of acrylic resins were determined after mixing barium sulfate or iodide compound. Thermocycling course was conducted to determine the change of characteristic of resins after using for a long time in the mouth. Five or ten percent of barium sulfate to total weight of cured material was mixed with heat curing dental acrylic resin or chemically curing orthodontic resin. In the case of iodide compound, the mixing ratio was two or three percent. After mixing the high radiopaque materials, resin was cured to 20×20×2 mm plate, polished with #600 sand paper and finally polished with Microcloth(Buehler). The specimens were thermocycled in 5 and 55 t distilled water for 2,000 times, and the measurement of radiopacity, color and Vickers hardness was repeated every 500 times thcrmocycling. The radiopacity of specimens on the X -ray films was measured with densitometer(X-rite). The color change was detennined with differential colorimeter(Model TC-6FX, Tokyo Denshoku), and the Vickers hardness number was measured with microhardness tester(Mitsuzawa). The following results were obtained : 1. All the three variables, the kinds of acrylic resins, the mixing or the kinds of high radiopaque materials and thermocycling, had combined effect on the radiopacity of the dental acrylic resins(p<0.0l). 2. The two variables, the mixing or the kinds of high radiopaque materials and thermocycling, influenced on the radiopacity of the dental acrylic resins(p<0.01). But the kinds of acrylic resins did not influence on the color change of mixed dental acrylic resins(p>0.05). 3. Each of the three variables, the kinds of acrylic resins, the mixing or the kinds of high radiopaque materials and thermocycling, influenced on the radiopacity of dental acrylic resins(p<0.0l). 4. The high radiopaque materials used in this study did not yield clinically usable radiopacity, and the color change was great after mixing those materials.
The use of autopolymerizing-cured resin and light-cured resin for direct introral relining of complete and partial dentures has been popular. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the surface characteristics of autopolymerizing-cured reline resins(Tokuso rebase, Mild rebaron, Meta base) and light-cured reline resin(Mild rebaron LC). Acrylic resin slab specimens(1.0cm in diameter at the bottom, and 0.3cm high) were made against glass according to the instructions of the manufacturer following normal procedures for each of direct reline resins and examined the surface characteristics by use of surface profilometer and the other specimens which were made intraorally for each of direct reline resins were examined by use of scanning electron microscopy. The results were as follows : 1. Each surface roughness(Rz) of hard relin resins was $0.14{\pm}0.04{\mu}m$ in Tokuso rebase, $0.37{\pm}0.11{\mu}m$ in Mild Rebaron, $0.79{\pm}0.44{\mu}m$ in Mild Rebaron LC, $6.36{\pm}3.40{\mu}m$ in Meta base. There were significant differences between the surface roughness of Meta base and those of other reline resins(p<0.05) 2. The generation of porosity was the most in Tokuso Rebase and followed by Meta base, Mild Rebaron and Mild Rebaron LC in the order respectively. 3. Light-cured reline resin(Mild rebaron LC) was denser in surface than any other autopolymerizing-cured reline resins. Tokuso rebase and Mild rebaron was denser than Meta base. Conclusively, light-cured reline resin(Mild rebaron LC) had less porosity and better surface density than any other autopolymerizing-cured reline resins.
3D printing 의치상 레진으로는 DIOnavi - Denture (P-DO)와 DENTCA - Denture Base II (P-DC)를 사용하였다.
The auther embedded the clinically differently used direct resins to the oral submucosa of the rabbits, and compared the tissue reactions to the direct resins with that to the indirect resins. The results were as follows:
1. Direct resins showed more lympocytes infiltration than indirect resins at the early stage of the embedding, but the same degree of the appearance of lympocytes infiltration as indirect resin at the late stage of the embedding.
And the formation of fibrosis around the embedding showed the irregular finidng.
2. Fibrosis of direct resin showed the tendency to be finer than indirect resin at the early stage of the embedding, but direct resin formed the similar fibers capsule to that of indirect resin at the late stage of the embedding.
Railroad, the structure maintenance and restoration project was increased and widely performed in concrete pavement road and airport, building at downtown area, bridge abutment, and other concrete structures. Especially, the ground reinforcement technique by quick-reaction expansible resins is the most effective countermeasures against differential settlement and undesired deformation of structure. In this paper, the unconfined compressive strength and some environmental related tests were conducted to evaluate compressive strength and environmental effect of quick-reaction expansive resins and soil mixtures. Also, three case histories of concrete structure and railroad restoration project are presented. Based on the laboratory test, the quick-reaction expansible resins and soil mixture represent the sufficient compressive strength and the leachate material is satisfied the environmental regulation limits. As a result of this study, the structure restoration technology using quick-reaction expansible resins is very effective for restoration of differential settlement and deformation, and it is environmentally sustainable technology.
Several new ion exchange resins have been synthesized from chloromethyl styrene-1,4-divinylbenzine with 1%, 2%, 5% and 105-crosslink and macrocyclic ligands of cryptand type by interpolymerization method. The adsorption characteristics and the pH, time, solvents and concentration dependence of the adsorption of uranium ion by this resins were studied. The resins were very stable in both acidic and basic media and have good resistance to heat at $300^{\circ}C$. The uranium ion are not adsorbed on the resins below pH 3.0, but the power of adsorption of it increased rapidly above pH 4.0. The optimum equilibrium time for adsorption of uranium ion was two hours and adsorptive power decreased in proportion to crosslink size of the resins and order of dielectric constants of solvents used and the adsorption for uranium ion was bin the order of $OdienNtn-H_4$ > $OtnNen-H_4$ > $OtnNen-H_4$ > $OenNen-H_4$.
As the development of nanotechnology, the use of composite resins which containing nanofillers becomes popular. The purpose of this study was to test the degree of polymerization of nanofillercontaining composite resins. For the study, three different nanofiller-containing composite resins and two different light-curing units were used. To evaluate the degree of polymerization, the maximum polymerization shrinkage taking place during the light curing, and the microhardness, after the light curing, were measured. As results, two light-curing units exhibited a similar emission spectrum to that of the included photoinitiator, camphorquinone. The only difference between the light-curing units were the width of the emission spectrum. Three different composite resins showed different microhardness values. Among them, Grandio showed the greatest microhardness value. However, there was less microhardness difference on the top and bottom surfaces due to the difference of the light-curing units. The maximum polymerization shrinkage values were also similar in the tested specimens regardless of the difference of the light-curing units. However, Grandio showed the least polymerization shrinkage. According to the manufacturers' data, Grandio showed the highest filler content(vol%).
One of the purposes of the study was to investigate and compare the physical properties(depth of light cure, degree of conversion, water absorption) of 4 kinds of composit resins prepared in this lab; Bis-GMA based, Bis-EMA based, Bis-GMA/UDMA based, and Bis-EMA/UDMA based composit. Another aim was to compare the physical properties of the composit resins with those of the commercialized products(Charmfil flow(Denkist), Quadrant flow(CAVEX)) in market. All of the composit resins and the commercialized products showed almost same values of the physical properties. It was found that all of the composit resins prepared in this lab satisfied the physical properties specified in ISO 4049.
In order to examine the influences of diluent, DVB, and ligand content, in the adsorption velocities and capacities of chelating resins to heaw metal ions, the chelating resins containing the PO$_3$H, amide, and PO$_3$H+amide were prepared from AN-STR-DVB copolymer. The adsorption capacities of chelating resins were measured by ICP-AES. The major results of the studies are as follows: The optimized compositions of the chelating resins having the highest adsorptivity for the heavy metal ions were found to be DVB=7 wt%, toluene= 100 vol%. The adsorption rate of the chelating resins to the heaw metal ions was PO$_3$H > PO$_3$H+Amide > Amide in order.
The metal ion selective resins were prepared by surface template polymerization using monooleyl phosphoric acid (1), oleyl methyl phosphoric acid (2) or oleyl ethyl phosphoric acid (3) as an amphiphilic host surfactant. The $Cu^{2+}$-imprinted resins prepared in the presence of $Cu^{2+}$ adsorbed $Cu^{2+}$ much more effectively than did their reference resins. On the other hand, the $Cu^{2+}$-imprinted resins showed much less binding ability to $Zn^{2+}$. The template-dependent selectivity should be ascribed to a favorable placement of the surface-anchored metallophilic groups for multidentate coordination to specific metal ion.
