In the present study, we successfully developed an eco-friendly chemical etching solution and proper condition for plating on ABS material. The mechanism of forming Ni plating layer on ABS substrate is known as following. In general, the etching solution used for the etching process is a solution of chromic acid and sulfuric acid. The etching solution is given to the surface resulting in elution of butadiene group, so-called anchor effect. Such a rough surface can easily adsorb catalyst resulting in the increase of adhesion between ABS substrate and Ni plating layer. However a use of chromic acid is harmful to environment. It is, therefore, essential to develop a new alternative solution. In the present study, we proposed an eco-friendly etching solution composed of potassium permanganate, sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. This solution was testified to observe the surface microstructure and the pore size of electrical Ni plating layer, and the adhesive correlation between deposited layers fabricated by electro Ni plating was confirmed. The result of the present study, the newly developed, eco-friendly etching solution, which is a mixture of potassium permanganate 25 g/L, sulfuric acid 650ml/L and phosphoric acid 250ml/L, has a similar etching effect and adhesion property, compared with the commercially used chromium acid solution in the condition at $70^{\circ}C$ for 5 min.
In lactic acid fermentation, the end product inhibition by lactic acid causes several problems. The most important of which are low lactate formation rate and its recovery from fermentation broth. To overcome these problems, extractive lactic acid fermentation was carried out in a bioreactor, which was connected to a column packed with anion exchange resin (Amberlite IRA-400, 250 g). The system was started as a batch process, and then the separation process was started when the lactic acid concentration reached 10 g/L, 20 g/L or 30 g/L. In each case, total lactic acid concentration was reached to 48.6, 53.6, 52.6 g/L with its productivity of 1.2 g/L $.$ h, 1.6 g/L $.$ h, and 1.3 g/L $.$ h, respectively Especially, in the case of the 20 g/L recycling-initiation process, extractive fermentation reduced tie fermentation time (17 hrs) by 34% in comparison with the conventional batch process. The direct consequence of this time reduction was shown by a 1.8 fold increase in overall lactic acid productivity.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of etching time, environmental temperature and humidity on the adhesion of composite resin to glass-ionomer cement. Two chemical cure composite resins (Clearfil F II and Microrest AP) and two glass-ionomer cements (Fuji ionomer Type I and KET AC-CEM) were used as the experimental materials. The experiment is performed in 3 stages: The first stage is to bond composite resins to glass-ionomer cements, and the surface was not etched, and etched for 20 seconds, 40 seconds, and 60 seconds. Then specimens are stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours to measure tensile strength. The second stage is to choose the one group that had the highest tensile strength from the first stage and prepare two experimental groups: One group with composite resin bonded to glass-ionomer cement without etching and bonding agent application and the other with composite resin bonded to glass-ionomer cement with etching but without any bonding agent application. The specimens are stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours and tensile strength is measured. The third stage is to choose group that had the highest tensile strength from the first stage experiment, and bond composite resin to glass-ionomer cement at $24^{\circ}C$ 44%, $30^{\circ}C$ 44%, $30^{\circ}C$ 80%, and $32^{\circ}C$ 92%. The storage time of specimens is to bond immediately after storage, then changed to 30 sec., 60 sec., and 120 sec.. Specimens are stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours and their tensile strength are measured again. The following results were obtained: 1. As the etching time increases, the tensile bond strength between glass-ionomer cement and composite resin increase, and the tensile bond strength is the highest when acid etched for 60 minutes (P < 0.05). 2. After acid etching for 60 minutes, the tensile strength of the group with bonding agent was stronger than that without bonding agent application (P < 0.05). 3. The tensile strength of Clearfil F II was stronger than that of Microrest AP. 4. It was observed that the tensile bond strength is not affected by different storage time with different temperature and humidity. 5. As the humidity was increased, the tensile bond strength between glass-ionomer cement and composite resin decreased (P < 0.05).
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of surface conditioning with $10\%$ polyacrylic acid, etching with $38\%$ phosphoric acid, and polishing with a slurry of pumice on shear bond strengths of light-cured glass ionomer cement, chemically cured glass ionomer cement, and a composite resin to enamel, and to observe the failure patterns of bracket bondings. Shear bond strengths of glass ionomer cements were compared with that of a composite resin. Metal brackets were bonded on the extracted human bicuspids after enamel surface treatments, and samples were immersed in the $37^{\circ}C$ distilled water bath, and shear bond strengths of glass ionomer cements and a composite resin were measured on the Instron machine after 24hrs passed, and the deboned samples were measured in respect of adhesive remnant index. Scanning electron micrographs were taken of enamel surfaces after various treatments. The data were evaluated and tested by ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, and those results were as follows. 1. Shear bond strength of light-cured glass ionomer cement showed statistically higher than that of chemically cured glass ionomer cement. 2. Shear bond strengths of light-cured and chemically cured glass ionomer cements to enamel treated with $10\%$ polyacrylic acid and $38\%$ phosphoric acid showed statistically higher than those with a slurry of pumice. 3. According to scanning electron micrographs, enamel surface conditioned with $10\%$ polyacrylic acid is slightly etched and cleaned, that etched with $38\%$ phosphoric acid is severely etched, and that polished with a slurry of pumice is irregulary scretched and not completely cleaned. 4. After debonding, light-cured glass ionomer cement to enamel treated with $10\%$ polyacrylic acid showed less residual materials on the enamel solace than composite resin to enamel etched with $38\%$ phosphoric acid. 5. There was no significant difference in the shear bond strength of light-cured glass ionomer cement to enamel treated with $10\%$ polyacrylic acid and that of composite resin to enamel etched with $38\%$ Phosphoric acid.
Combinatorial homoserine lactone mixtures and individual products were obtained from the methionine-functionalized resin in solid-phase synthesis. The four-step process consisting of a coupling step of an N-Fmoc-L-methionine, deprotection of N-Fmoc group, N-coupling with a carboxylic acid, and cleavage reaction through a polymer supported strategy is described. Gas chromatography-mass selective detector (GC-MSD) techniques provide the most powerful methods for identifying both the combinatorial mixtures and individual products.
A new polystyrene-divinylbenzene chelating resin containing 4,5-dihydroxy-naphthalene-2,7-disulfonic acid (chromotropic acid : CTA) as functional group has been synthesized and characterized. The sorption and desorption properties of this chelating resin for Cr(III) ion and Cr(VI) ion including nine metal bloodstain. As a results, FOB test kit could be effectively applied to identification of human blood at chelating resin was stable in acidic and alkaline solution. The Cr(VI) ion is selectively separated from Cr (III) ion at pH 2 and the maximum sorption capacity of Cr(VI) ion is 1.2 mmol/g. In the presence of anions such as $F^-$, $SO{_4}^{2-}$, $CN^-$, $CH_3COO^-$, $NO{_3}^-$, the sorption of Cr(VI) ion was reduced but anions such as $PO{_4}^{3-}$ and $Cl^-$ revealed no interference effect. The elution order of metal ions obtained from breakthrough capacity and overall capacity at pH 2 was Cr(VI)>Sn(II)>Fe(III)>Cu(II)>Cd(II)${\simeq}Pb(II){\simeq}Cr(III){\simeq}Mn(II){\simeq}Ni(II){\simeq}Al(III)$. Desorption characteristics for Cr(VI) ion was investigated with desorption agents such as $HNO_3$, HCl, and $H_2SO_4$. It was found that the ion showed high desorption efficiency with 3 M HCl. As the result, the chelating resin, XAD-16-CTA was successfully applied to separation and preconcentration of Cr (VI) ion from several metal ions in metal finishing works.

Dehydration of 1-phenylethanol to produce styrene has been studied in liquid phase with three solid acid catalysts such as H-ZSM-5, H-Y and Amberlyst-15. Amberlyst-15 shows the highest conversion and styrene yield, suggesting the applicability of a resin catalyst in the dehydration. The good performance of the Amberlyst-15 may be due to high acid concentration and ready diffusion of reactants and products. A possible reaction scheme (such as the formation of styrene from diphenylethylether) has also been suggested.
An emphasis has been placed on the importance of selecting a sand for furan sand process, which ie affected by the properties of sand. Investigations have been carried out to use the domestic artificial sands for the furan sand process. For laboratory investigations, the sands have been prepared and tested for chemical analysis, loss on ignition, sieve analysis, AFS grain fineness number, grain shape, PH value, acid demand, surface shape, theoretical surface area, moisture absorption, crushing durability and compressive strength and S. S. I. of molding sands. Most commercial sands have been found to be able to be used. The main requirement of the sands has been shown to be that 3 or 4 screen sands, AFS no.40-70 (or 100), of low acid demand, good surface area and good grain shape require less resin and catalyst to give an adequate strength.
We have examined inhibitory erects on gasritis using omeprazole-cholestyramine resinate, which has been developed to increase the stability of omeprazole, the well-known proton pump inhibitor, in an acidic condition. To test the pharmacological action of this, we investigated the effect of omeprazole-cholestyramine resinate on indomethacin-induced gastritis in rats. Omeprazole was used as a reference drug. Orally administered omeprazole-cholestyramine resinate inhibited the indomethacin-induced gastritis in a dose-dependent manner. The inhibitory effect of omeprazole-cholestyramine resinate on the gastritis was similar to that of reference drug. In addition, rectal adminstration of the omeprazole-cholestyramine resinate inhibited the indomethacin-induced gastritis in a dose-dependent manner. The inhibitory effect of omeprazole-cholestyramine resinate was equipotent to reference drug. The basal gastric acid secretion was decreased when it was administered either orally or rectally. This inhibition of omfprazole-cholestyramine resinate was similar to that of omeprazole. These data suggest that omeprazole-cholestyramine resinate inhibit the gastritis in rats, and are comparable to omeprazole available in market.
Solutions of $Cd^{2+}$, $Co^{2+}$ and $Ni^{2+}$ were mixed with the solutions of hydroxycarboxylic acids such as salicylic, lactic and mandelic acids in the presence of cation exchange resin at room temperature. The distribution ratios of the metal ions between resin and solution were measured, using radioactive metal ions as tracer. From the observed variation of the distribution ratios with the acid anion concentrations, it was concluded that $Cd^{2+}$, $Co^{2+}$ and $Ni^{2+}$ formed the one-to-one complexes with salicylate, lactate and mandelate ions in aqueous, 20 % ethanol-water and 20 % acetone-water solutions. The results of the present study indicated that the relative stabilities of the metal-acid complexes in solution increased in the order: $Cd^{2+}$ <$Co^{2+}$ <$Ni^{2+}$ complexes. Salicylate
