  • The purpose of this study is to present data for the reusing, rehabilitation and estimation of safety of RC structure damaged by fire, and for the prevention of explosive spatting by investigation the properties of explosive spalling, compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity according to kinds of fine aggregate, admixture and water-cement ratios. In explosive spalling properties with kinds of aggregate, explosive spalling does not appear or little at surface in the case of used sea sand, but the case of using recycled sand or crushed sand is worse and worse. Property with the kind of admixture does not appear specially. And high strength concrete with W/C 30.5% was taken spalling, but 55% does not appear. It is found that residual compressive strength after exposed at high temperature showed 45% in W/C 55%, and 64% in W/C 30.5% of its original strength averagely. Ultrasonic pulse velocity is different with kinds of aggregate. W/C. and heating time. When 3 month age after heating ultrasonic pulse velocity is recovered abut 1.3%~8.4% of its 1 month age after heating.

  • Objectives : Chemotherapy remains part of the treatment triad that includes surgery and radiotherapy for the management of glioblastomas, but disappointing results of chemotherapy have raised the suggestion that chemotherapy should perhaps be abandoned. In order to determine the chemotherapy effect given in addition to radiotherapy, we performed a randomized clinical study of irradiation alone and combination of irradiation with chemotherapy in the treatment of glioblastomas. Methods : From 1991 to 1999, 204 consecutive patients suffering from supratentorial glioblastomas were treated in our hospital. We compared the survival rates/times of these patients according to the treatment modalities[group I-67 patients treated by surgery with radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy(ACNU, paclitaxel, tamoxifen, and others) ; group II-106 by surgery with radiotherapy ; and group III-31 by surgery only]. Results : The overall median survival time was 12 months, with overall survival rates at 1 and 2 year of 46.7% and 16.6%, respectively. On univariate analysis, median survival and 1- and 2-year survival rates were statistically improved by the use of chemotherapy ; group I-15 months, 75.7%, and 25.9%, group II-11 months, 39.3%, and 15.4%, and group III-3 months, 9.7%, and 6.5%, respectively(p=0.0001). But, on multivariate analysis considering compounding variables, survival was independently associated only with radiotherapy(p=0.0112). Conclusion : These results suggest that the addition of chemotherapy to radiotherapy does not affect the overall survival in glioblastomas. Mainly long-survivor glioblastoma patients might benefit by adjuvant chemotherapy, which probably means patients with initial favorable prognostic factors(young age, minimal residual tumors, good performance status). It is necessary to continue to search for an effective chemotherapy regimen to prolong survival of patients with glioblastomas.

  • Sheet resistance reduction in the Ag nanowire (NW) coated films is accomplished with slight improvement of optical properties for the application of transparent conducting electrodes by using $O_2$ plasma treatment. The sheet resistance was optimized after 30 seconds $O_2$ plasma treatment, showing the 27 % of maximum decrease of sheet resistance. It is found that the $O_2$ plasma treatment get rid of the residual organic materials at the junction of Ag NWs. However, the Ag NWs may be also snapped by the excessive $O_2$ plasma treatment can showing the collapses of Ag NWs networks. Furthermore, the optical properties such as optical transmittance and haze were monotonically improved with the $O_2$ plasma treatment time until 90 seconds.

  • This research investigates the structural health monitoring of nonlinear structures after a major seismic event. It considers the identification of flag-shaped or pinched hysteresis behavior in response to structures as a more general case of a normal hysteresis curve without pinching. The method is based on the overall least squares methods and the log likelihood ratio test. In particular, the structural response is divided into different loading and unloading sub-half cycles. The overall least squares analysis is first implemented to obtain the minimum residual mean square estimates of structural parameters for each sub-half cycle with the number of segments assumed. The log likelihood ratio test is used to assess the likelihood of these nonlinear segments being true representations in the presence of noise and model error. The resulting regression coefficients for identified segmented regression models are finally used to obtain stiffness, yielding deformation and energy dissipation parameters. The performance of the method is illustrated using a single degree of freedom system and a suite of 20 earthquake records. RMS noise of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% is added to the response data to assess the robustness of the identification routine. The proposed method is computationally efficient and accurate in identifying the damage parameters within 10% average of the known values even with 20% added noise. The method requires no user input and could thus be automated and performed in real-time for each sub-half cycle, with results available effectively immediately after an event as well as during an event, if required.

  • To prepare acrylic type pressure-sensitive adhesive, quarter polymers were synthesized from butylacrylate (BA), 2-ethylhexylacrylate (2-EHA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (2-HEMA). The quarter polymer was identified by FT-IR. Molecular weight was measured by Gel Pearmeation Chromatograhy. Also, viscosity, solid content and peel strength were investigated. The peel strength was $160g_f/25mm$ when the volume ratio of feed monomer to solvent was 1.3:1 and the ratio was relevant to commercial usage. The pot life of adhesive was 30 s at the 50 m/min of heat treatment rate, and it indicated that the minimum drying time was 30 s. Not only weathering resistance keep up peel strength $160{\sim}180g_f/25mm$ after 1000 h, but also no residual remains.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of commercial disinfectants at inactivating Enterobacter sakazakii (Cronobacter spp.) in water. Disinfectant I contained 6.15% sodium hypochlorite, and disinfectant II contained both 2.25% n-alkyl dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride and 2.25% n-alkyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chloride. Disinfectant I was added to distilled water to obtain a range of residual chloride concentrations at 50 ppm intervals with a maximum of 1-1,000 ppm. Disinfectant II was prepared at concentrations ranging from 1-200 ppm with 5 ppm intervals. Exposure time for all solutions was 10 min. In total, 58 E. sakazakii (Cronobacter spp.) strains were tested in this study. Nine isolates were obtained from clinical samples, and 49 isolates were obtained from environmental samples. Seven strains (6 clinical and 1 environmental) were able to survive in 100 ppm disinfectant I, and a maximum of 5 ppm of disinfectant II. Fifty one strains (3 clinical and 48 environmental) were not killed in 10 ppm of disinfectant I and 1 ppm of disinfectant II in water. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that clinical E. sakazakii (Cronobacter spp.) strains displayed 5- to 10-fold higher resistance to disinfectants than environmental E. sakazakii (Cronobacter spp.) strains. Disinfectant II, containing quaternary ammonium compounds, was shown to be more potent in inactivating E. sakazakii (Cronobacter spp.) in water used to clean infant formula manufacturing equipment than disinfectant I.

  • The massive MIMO system, which is a core technology of 5G communication systems, has a problem that it is difficult to implement in a frequency division duplex system based on limited channel feedback because a large amount of channel information is required at the transmitting end. In order to solve this problem, the Joint Spatial Division and Multiplexing (JSDM) technique that dramatically reduces the channel information requirement by removing interference between the user groups using channel correlation information that does not change for a long time has been proposed. Recently, a regularized JSDM technique has been proposed to further improve performance by allowing residual interference between the user groups. However, such JSDM-related studies were mainly designed to focus on inter-group interference cancellation, and thus performance analysis was not performed in a more realistic environment assuming limited feedback in the intra-group interference cancellation phase. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the JSDM and regularized JSDM techniques according to the number of groups and users in a limited feedback environment, and through the simulation results, demonstrate that the regularized JSDM technique shows a more remarkable advantage compared to the existing JSDM in a limited feedback environments.

  • To efficiently recycle GH78 thermostable rhamnosidase (TpeRha) and easily separate it from the reaction mixture and furtherly improve the enzyme properties, the magnetic particle Fe3O4-SiO2-NH2-Cellu-ZIF8 (FSNcZ8) was prepared by modifying Fe3O4-NH2 with tetraethyl silicate (TEOS), microcrystalline cellulose and zinc nitrate hexahydrate. FSNcZ8 displayed better magnetic stability and higher-temperature stability than unmodified Fe3O4-NH2 (FN), and it was used to adsorb and immobilize TpeRha from Thermotoga petrophilea 13995. As for properties, FSNcZ8-TpeRha showed optimal reaction temperature and pH of 90℃ and 5.0, while its highest activity approached 714 U/g. In addition, FSNcZ8-TpeRha had better higher-temperature stability than FN. After incubation at 80℃ for 3 h, the residual enzyme activities of FSNcZ8-TpeRha, FN-TpeRha and free enzyme were 93.5%, 63.32%, and 62.77%, respectively. The organic solvent tolerance and the monosaccharides tolerance of FSNcZ8-TpeRha, compared with free TpeRha, were greatly improved. Using naringin (1 mmol/l) as the substrate, the optimal conversion conditions were as follows: FSNcZ8-TpeRha concentration was 6 U/ml; induction temperature was 80℃; the pH was 5.5; induction time was 30 min, and the yield of products was the same as free enzyme. After repeating the reaction 10 times, the conversion of naringin remained above 80%, showing great improvement of the catalytic efficiency and repeated utilization of the immobilized α-L-rhamnosidase.

  • Purpose: We evaluate the role of transanal tube drainage (TD) as a conservative treatment for patients with anastomotic leakage (AL). Methods: Patients treated for AL who had undergone a low or an ultralow anterior resection with colorectal or coloanal anastomosis for the treatment of rectal cancer between January 2013 and January 2017 were enrolled in this study. The data were collected prospectively and analyzed retrospectively. The primary outcomes were the diagnosis and the management of AL. Results: Two hundred thirteen consecutive patients, 122 males and 91 females, were included. The mean age was $66.91{\pm}11.15years$, and the median body mass index was $24kg/m^2$ (range, $20-35kg/m^2$). The median tumor distance from the anal verge was 8 cm (range, 4-12 cm). Ninety-three patients (44%) received neoadjuvant therapy for nodal disease and/or locally advanced rectal cancer. Only 13 patients (6%) developed AL. Six patients developed subclinical AL as they had a defunctioning ileostomy at the time of the initial procedure. They were treated conservatively with TD under endoscopic guidance in the endoscopy unit and received intravenous antibiotics. Six weeks after discharge, these 6 patients underwent follow-up flexible sigmoidoscopy which showed a completely healed anastomotic defect with no residual stenosis. Seven patients developed a clinically significant AL and required reoperation with pelvic abscess drainage and Hartmann colostomy formation. Conclusion: These results suggest that TD for management of patients with AL is safe, cheap, and effective. Salvaging the anastomosis will help decrease the need for Hartmann colostomy formation. Proper patient selection is important.

  • The following results were obtained from a series of studies to accumulate data to reduce the coefficient of friction for press dies by performing tribological tests before and after the UNSM treatment of SM45C. The UNSM-treated material had a nano-size surface texture, high surface hardness, and large and deep compressive residual stress formation. Even when the load was doubled, the small amount of abrasion, small weight of the abrasion, and width and depth of the abrasion did not increase as much as those for untreated materials. When loads of 5 N, 7.5 N, and 10 N were applied to the untreated material of SM45C, the coefficient of friction was approximately 0.76-0.78. With the large specimen, a value of 0.72-0.78 was maintained at a load of 50 N despite the differences in the size of the wear specimen and working load. Tribological tests of large specimens of SM45C treated with UNSM under tribological conditions of 100 N and 50 N showed that the frictional coefficient and time constant stably converged between 0.7 and 0.8. The friction coefficients of the small specimens treated with UNSM showed values between 0.78 and 0.75 under 5 N, 7.5 N, and 10 N. The friction coefficients of the SM45C treated with UNSM were comparable to each other.
