The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of the periodontal ligament on the healing and the formation of alveolar bone in the extraction socket, when this ligament had artificially remained in the socket during the tooth removal. Twenty rats aged 4 weeks were used and devided into the control groups (10) and the experimental groups (10) in this study. The maxillary right and left first molars were extracted in both groups. In the experimental groups the periodontal ligament was remained in the extraction sockets using 0.4% ${\beta}-aminopropionitrile$, and in the control the periodontal ligament was completely removed by curettage. At 1, 3, 5, 7 and 14 days after the tooth extraction, rats in both groups were serially sacrificed. And the specimens were prepared with Hematoxylin-Eosin stain for the light microscopic evaluation. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. On 1 day, the periodontal ligament was only found in the extraction socket walls of the experimental groups, and there was not the distinguishable difference between the control and the experimental groups. 2. On 3 days, there were more collagen fibers and the appearance of higher cellular density in the experimental groups than in the control. And the cells and collagen of the periodontal ligament were so actively proliferated and synthesized that invaded into the connective tissue of the extraction sockets in the experimental groups. 3. In the experimental groups, the trabecular bone was formed on the basal and lateral bone surface on 5 days. However, there was not the new bone forming appearance in the control groups at this time. 4. On 7 days, the trabecular bone was formed in the control groups. 5. On 14 days, the extraction sockets were almost entirely filled with the bony trabeculae in both groups. But, compared to the control group, the experimental groups showed the prominent differences in the amount & the density of the new bone formed. In conclusion, it was suggested that the residual periodontal ligament tissue in the extraction socket will play a major role as the important cell source in the healing and the new bone formation of the extraction socket.

Given digraph network $D=(N,A),n{\in}N,a=c(u,v){\in}A$ with source s and sink t, the maximum flow from s to t is determined by cut (S, T) that splits N to $s{\in}S$ and $t{\in}T$ disjoint sets with minimum cut value. The Ford-Fulkerson (F-F) algorithm with time complexity $O(NA^2)$ has been well known to this problem. The F-F algorithm finds all possible augmenting paths from s to t with residual capacity arcs and determines bottleneck arc that has a minimum residual capacity among the paths. After completion of algorithm, you should be determine the minimum cut by combination of bottleneck arcs. This paper suggests maximum adjacency merging and compute cut value method is called by MA-merging algorithm. We start the initial value to S={s}, T={t}, Then we select the maximum capacity $_{max}c(u,v)$ in the graph and merge to adjacent set S or T. Finally, we compute cut value of S or T. This algorithm runs n-1 times. We experiment Ford-Fulkerson and MA-merging algorithm for various 8 digraph. As a results, MA-merging algorithm can be finds minimum cut during the n-1 running times with time complexity O(N).
During the 1970s, concern arose that cured meats contained high levels of residual nitrite and preformed nitrosamines. Therefore, the search for alternatives and alternative approaches to the use of nitrite have been still continued, however no complete alternative for nitrite has yet been identified. Recently, it was publicized in Korea that nitrite-containing meat products would be detrimental to health, about which consumers have been seriously concerned. Therefore, this study was carried out to inform the consumer of the safety status of nitrite and thereby to lead proper consumption of meat products. For assessing the safety of nitrite, data regarding the regulation for use, metabolism in human body, and dietary intake amounts of nitrite were collected and analyzed. The mean intake level of nitrite for Korean per capita was recently reported to be not more than 1% of ADI set by JECFA. On the contrary, a calculation indicated that the daily nitrite intake per capita from saliva by ingestion of vegetables in Korea would be about 300-fold higher than that from cured meats. In consideration of the low consumption amount of meat products per capita of Korean, that is, at least one fifth, compared to European and American, there is no particular reason to concern about the impairment of health by nitrite intake from meat products for Korean. However, any effort for the reduction of residual nitrite content in cured meats should be given with an idea to minimize the intake of nitrite even from the minor source.

Down Stream K River has high COD (4-10 mg/L) and high $NH_3$-N concentration (3.5 mg/L during winter period). Although $NH_3$-N itself is not reported harmful at this level, it must be removed to meet drinking water standard (0.5 mg/L). We constructed a pilot plant modifying the processes of conventional drinking water facilities. Prechlorination and powdered activated carbon (PAC) dechlorination was adopted prior to a flocculation tank to remove ammonia and prevent disinfection byproducts (DBPs) formation. Also, GAC processes was included after sand filter to remove residual DOC. This pilot having a capacity of 36 ton/day was operated for one year. The GAC processes were successful to remove ammonia and many organic pollutants (DOC, MBAS, UV-254 nm absorbance, etc). Influent DOC concentrations were very high as 3~6 mg/L throughout the plant operation. It was impossible to achieve 1.0 mg/L effluent DOC, indicating that bed depth (2 m) should be increased to achieve more strict DOC quality standards. When $Cl_2$ dose was well controlled ($Cl_2/NH_3$-N ratio 10~11 on a weight basis), $NH_3$-N removal was 98% and THMs was very low possibly due to low free residual chlorine and PAC dechlorination.

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has standardized RPL (IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-power Lossy Network) as a routing protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (LLNs), a low power loss network environment. RPL creates a route through an Objective Function (OF) suitable for the service required by LLNs and builds a Destination Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph (DODAG). Existing studies check the residual energy of each node and select a parent with the highest residual energy to build a DODAG, but the energy exhaustion of the parent can not avoid the network disconnection of the children nodes. Therefore, this paper proposes EC-RPL (Enhanced Connectivity-RPL), in which ta node leaves DODAG in advance when the remaining energy of the node falls below the specified energy threshold. The proposed protocol is implemented in Contiki, an open-source IoT operating system, and its performance is evaluated in Cooja simulator, and the number of control messages is compared using Foren6. Experimental results show that EC-RPL has 6.9% lower latency and 5.8% fewer control messages than the existing RPL, and the packet delivery rate is 1.7% higher.
This paper proposes an interference avoidance approach for Constraint-Based Routing (CBR) algorithm in the Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network. The MPLS network itself has a capability of integrating among any layer-3 protocols and any layer-2 protocols of the OSI model. It is based on the label switching technology, which is fast and flexible switching technique using pre-defined Label Switching Paths (LSPs). The MPLS network is a solution for the Traffic Engineering(TE), Quality of Service (QoS), Virtual Private Network (VPN), and Constraint-Based Routing (CBR) issues. According to the MPLS CBR, routing performance requirements are capability for on-line routing, high network throughput, high network utilization, high network scalability, fast rerouting performance, low percentage of call-setup request blocking, and low calculation complexity. There are many previously proposed algorithms such as minimum hop (MH) algorithm, widest shortest path (WSP) algorithm, and minimum interference routing algorithm (MIRA). The MIRA algorithm is currently seemed to be the best solution for the MPLS routing problem in case of selecting a path with minimum interference level. It achieves lower call-setup request blocking, lower interference level, higher network utilization and higher network throughput. However, it suffers from routing calculation complexity which makes it difficult to real task implementation. In this paper, there are three objectives for routing algorithm design, which are minimizing interference levels with other source-destination node pairs, minimizing resource usage by selecting a minimum hop path first, and reducing calculation complexity. The proposed CBR algorithm is based on power factor calculation of total amount of possible path per link and the residual bandwidth in the network. A path with high power factor should be considered as minimum interference path and should be selected for path setup. With the proposed algorithm, all of the three objectives are attained and the approach of selection of a high power factor path could minimize interference level among all source-destination node pairs. The approach of selection of a shortest path from many equal power factor paths approach could minimize the usage of network resource. Then the network has higher resource reservation for future call-setup request. Moreover, the calculation of possible path per link (or interference level indicator) is run only whenever the network topology has been changed. Hence, this approach could reduce routing calculation complexity. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has good performance over high network utilization, low call-setup blocking percentage and low routing computation complexity.

Since the temperature of asphalt for deck plate of steel bridge during paying procedure is relatively high as $240^{\circ}C\;to\;260^{\circ}C$, the temperature of deck plate of bridge rises mere than $100^{\circ}C$ and excessive displacement and stress could occur. In order to avoid undesirable failure of base plate and determine the optimal pavement pattern, a thorough thermal analysis is needed. General structural model which is made of beam and plate element should be modified for transient heat transfer analysis; asphalt pavement material and convection effect on surface of structure need to be added. A new technique with the Equivalent Heat Source (EHS) for numerical thermal analysis for steel bridge under thermal load of Guss asphalt pavement is proposed. Since plate/beam elements which were generally used for structural analysis for bridge cannot explain convection effect easily on plate/beam surface, EHS which is determined based on calculated temperature with convection effect is used. To verify the EHS proposed in this study, numerical analyses with plate elements are performed and the results are compared with estimated temperatures. EHS might be used for other thermal analyses of steel bridge such as welding residual stress analysis and bridge fire analysis.
MTBE (Methyl tertiary-butyl ether) has been commonly used as an octane enhancer to replace tetraethyl lead in gasoline, because MTBE increases the efficiency of combustion and decreases the emission of carbon monoxide. However, MTBE has been found in groundwater from the fuel spills and leaks in the UST (Underground Storage Tank). Fenton's oxidation, an advanced oxidation catalyzed with ferrous iron, is successful in removing MTBE in groundwater. However, Fenton's oxidation requires the continuous addition of dissolved $Fe^{2+}$. Zero-valent iron is available as a source of catalytic ferrous iron of MFO (Modified Fenton's Oxidation) and has been studied for use in PRBs (Permeable Reactive Barriers) as a reactive material. Therefore, this study investigated the condition of optimization in MFO-PRBs using waste zero-valent iron (ZVI) with the waste steel scrap to treat MTBE contaminated groundwater. Batch tests were examined to find optimal molar ratio of MTBE : $H_2O_2$ on extent to degradation of MTBE in groundwater at pH 7 with 10% waste ZVI. As the results, the ratio of optimization of MTBE to hydrogen peroxide for MFO was determined to be 1:300[mM]. The column experiment was conducted to know applicability of MFO-PRBs for MTBE remediation in groundwater. As the results of column test, MTBE was removed 87% of the initial concentration during 120days of operational period. Interestingly, MTBE was degraded not only within waste ZVI column but also within sand column. It means the aquifer may affect continuously the MTBE contaminated groundwater after throughout the waste ZVI barrier. The residual products showed acetone, TBF (Tert-butyl formate) and TBA (Tert-butyl acetate) during this test. The results of the present study showed that the recycled materials can be effectively used for not only a source of catalytic ferrous iron but also a reactive material of the MFO-PRBs to remove MTBE in groundwater.
The Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) existing in a water includes both hydrophobic and hydrophilic substances however, most of the discussion focuses on hydrophobic substances. The hydrophobic fraction was easily removed by absorption or coagulation more than hydrophilic fraction. Therefore, control of the hydrophilic fraction is very important in water treatment process. This study is to determine the variation of DOC, the removal efficiency of DOC, and Trihalomethane formation potential (THMFP) after each stage of water treatment process by fractionating Natural Organic Matters (NOM) into hydrophobic and hydrophilic substance. DOC from raw water was fractionated at acidic pH (pH<2) using XAD 8 resin column, into two fraction : hydrophobic substance (i.e. humic substance) adsorbed on XAD 8 and hydrophilic substance which represent the organics contained in the final effluent. THMFP was carried out according to the following set condition: Cl2/DOC=4 mg/mg, incubation at $25^{\circ}C$ in darkness, pH 7 adjust with HCl or NaOH as necessary, and 72hour-contact time. THMs analyzed in this study were chloroform, bromodichloromethane, dibromochloromethan, and bromoform. Sewage was almost evenly split between the hydrophobic (56%) and hydrophilic fraction (44%). But, Aldrich humic substance (AHS) was found to contain less hydrophilics (14%) than hydrophobics (86%). The formation of THMs may depend on the source which is characterized by the composition of organic matters such as AHS and sewage. The THMFP yield of sewage and AHS were assessed as follows. The value of the THMFP reaction yield, AHS $172.65{\mu}g/mg$, is much higher than that of sewage $41.68{\mu}g/mg$. This illustrates possible significant difference in THMFP according to the component type and the proportion of organic matter existing in water source. Apparently AHS react with chlorine to produce more THMFP than do the smaller molecules found in sewage. Water treatment process may reduce THMFP, nevertheless residual DOC (the more hydrophilic substance) has significant THMFP. Further reduction in organic halide precursors requires application of alternative treatment techniques.
The effects of carbon sources for exopolysaccharide production during batch cultivation of an Enterobacter sp. isolated from the composter were investigated. The highest amount of exopolysaccharide was obtained when lactose was used as carbon source. Lactose in medium was converted into glucose and galactose. Glucose was metabolized fast and was completely consumed, but about $20\%$ of lactose was accumulated as galactose. On the other hand, enzyme activity was about $350\~450$ unit with the increase of lactose concentration. Thus, it was considered that the exopolysaccharide might be produced in the course of that lactose was hydrolyzed into glucose and galactose by $\beta-galactosidase$ with respect to that enzyme activity on lactose hydrolysis was accorded to the exopolysaccharide production. When glucose and galactose were added to lactose medium, respectively, it could be considered that glucose was as a repressor and galactose was as a inducer for $\beta-galactosidase$ synthesis even though the mechanisms were not elucidated. The increase of lactose concentration was almost ineffective to the specific growth rate $(0.133\~0.151\;hr^[-1})$ but showed the difference in the biomass content. The higher carbon source concentration, the more residual sugar remained. It was assumed that the optimum lactose concentration for exopolysaccharide production was $30\~70g/L.$ On the other hand, it was considered that the nitrogen acted as growth limiting nutrients to the cell growth. In the cases of 30 and 70 g/L of the fixed carbon concentrations, the increase of the nitrogen sources concentration caused a remarkable increase within the range of $0.059\~0.225\;hr^{-1}$ and $0.141\~0.237hr^{-1}$ of the specific growth rate, respectively, while there was no significant difference in biomass.
