Relational Benefits, Alternative Attractiveness and Customer Loyalty: Implication for Service Distribution Channels

  • Purpose: This study explores the types of relational benefits that generate loyalty to room-sharing services among Chinese customers based on the relationship marketing literature. The study also examines the moderating effect of alternative attractiveness on this relationship. Research design, data and methodology: Based on research hypotheses, questionnaires with items measuring the proposed constructs in three dimensions, including relational benefits, alternative attractiveness, and customer loyalty, were designed to test the hypotheses. Data were collected via an online questionnaire of 220 room-sharing service customers in China. Results: Results verify the effects of relational benefits on customers' loyalty to room-sharing services and the mediating effect of alternative attractiveness. More specifically, confidence, social, and safety benefits positively affect customer loyalty to room-sharing services, and alternative attractiveness moderates only the effect of social benefits. Conclusions: The results suggest that room-sharing service providers should concentrate on providing confidence, social, and safety benefits to maintain long-term relationships with customers. This study also provides practical implication for building relationships between channel members in service distribution channels. The study concludes that without customer relationships marketing for managing collaborative and social communication channels, the entire distribution channel might lose out eventually.

A Study on the Moderating Effect of Job Crafting in the Relationship Between Transformational Leadership, Knowledge Sharing, and Innovative Behavior

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between transformational leadership (TL), knowledge sharing, and innovative behavior, and to empirically analyze the moderating effect of job crafting on each of these relationships. Research design, data and methodology: For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 320 franchise academy instructors from February 5 to March 20, 2024, using both online and offline methods. The collected data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis with SPSS 29.0. Results: The conclusions derived from this study are as follows. First, higher levels of transformational leadership (TL) are associated with increased knowledge sharing. Second, higher levels of transformational leadership (TL) lead to enhanced innovative behavior. Third, regarding the moderating effect of job crafting on the relationship between transformational leadership, knowledge sharing, and innovative behavior, it was found that employees with lower levels of job crafting experience a stronger interaction effect between transformational leadership and job crafting than those with higher levels. Conclusions: This study contributes academically by expanding the scope of organizational behavior research and offers practical insights into effective human resource management strategies in the education service sector. Additionally, it highlights the importance of fostering collaboration and autonomous job improvement within organizations as key drivers of performance, providing practical implications for developing relevant strategies and programs.

Knowledge Sharing Among School Library Personnel in Nigeria: How Do Digital and Media Literacies Interfere?

  • The study investigated the contributions of digital and media literacies to knowledge sharing among school library personnel in Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for the study while a questionnaire was used to collect data from the 190 respondents that constitute the sample size for the study. Findings from the study revealed a high level of digital and media literacy skills possessed by the school library personnel surveyed. Producing information, evaluating digital information, and finding digital were major media and digital information literacy skills that significantly contributed to knowledge sharing among the school library personnel. The study recommended that adequate attention should be given to the development of digital and media literacies of school library personnel in Nigeria to ensure effective and efficient knowledge sharing.

Influence of parenting role sharing, parenting stress, and happiness on warm parenting behavior in mothers of children aged 6 years: an analysis using data from the seventh panel study on Korean children

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the relationships among parenting role sharing, parenting stress, happiness, and parenting behavior of mothers with 6-year-old children. Methods: This study used data from the seventh Panel Study of Korean Children, which began collecting longitudinal data on a sample of newborn households nationwide in 2008 and will continue yearly until 2027. The participants were 1,560 mothers of children aged 6 years. We conducted statistical analyses using descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean age of the mothers was 36.8±3.7 years. The mothers' perceived parenting role sharing (r=.07, p=.007), parenting stress (r=-.54, p<.001), and happiness (r=.38, p<.001) were significantly correlated with warm parenting behavior. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that parenting stress (β=-.47, p<.001), happiness (β=.15, p<.001), and parenting role sharing (β=.11, p<.001) were significant predictors for warm parenting behavior by mothers. Conclusion: It is essential to reduce mothers' stress and increase their positive emotions (happiness). Fathers should actively share parenting roles in raising children to enhance mothers' warm parenting behavior.

An Analysis of Factors Influencing Knowledge Sharing in Online Health Communities

  • Purpose This study investigates the key factors influencing knowledge sharing within Online Health Communities (OHCs), focusing on how different types of support impact sharing general health and specific health knowledge. Design/Methodology/Approach This study adopts a quantitative research design, collecting data from 308 participants across various OHCs through a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire assesses the relationships between informational support, emotional support, altruism, personal innovativeness, and knowledge-sharing behavior. Using structural equation modeling (SEM), the researchers systematically analyzed the impact of these factors on the sharing of general health knowledge (such as health advice and lifestyle information) and specific health knowledge (such as medical, technical details, and treatment plans). Findings The analysis revealed that informational support significantly promotes general health and specific health knowledge sharing in OHCs. Emotional support has a notable effect on general health knowledge sharing but is limited in its impact on specific health knowledge sharing, potentially due to the technical nature of the information involved. Altruism positively influences general health knowledge sharing but shows mixed effects on specific health knowledge sharing, possibly due to the complexity and difficulty of the knowledge being shared. Personal innovativeness enhances general health knowledge sharing but may conflict with existing norms in specific health knowledge contexts, leading to variable outcomes.

  • Web 2.0, characterized as openness, sharing, and participation, has enabled Internet users to easily generate a variety of contents, and to share them through Web 2.0 services. Knowledge search service (KSS) is positioning itself as one of typical Web 2.0 services. Yet, few studies have sharpened our understanding of users' knowledge sharing behavior in the KSS environment. In order to address this knowledge void, this paper attempts to explore antecedents of their usage behavior in the KSS environment. Typically, they utilize stored knowledge and share their knowledge simultaneously. Considering this characteristic, our study regards service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention as final dependent variables. This study advances a research model based on Bhattacherjee's expectation-confirmation model, which is expanded by incorporating trust belief. Because of the openness of KSS, trust belief is believed to play a critical role in forming users' service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention. Furthermore, this study examines the difference of the antecedents' effects in terms of users' gender. We collected data from 275 respondents who have experience in using KSS. PLS (partial least squares) was employed for the analysis of the data. Analysis results confirm the important role of user satisfaction and trust belief in the formation of users' service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention. More importantly, trust belief has a more salient effect on knowledge service usage intention than user satisfaction. This study also shows the moderating role of users' gender. Finally, this paper provides managerial guidance on strategic planning aimed at improving users' service usage intention and knowledge sharing intention in the KSS environment.

A Case Study of U.S. Academic Libraries' Research Data Support Services (미국 대학도서관의 연구데이터 지원 서비스 사례 연구)

  • Academic libraries have actively responded to social requirements and changes in scholarly communication system. In recent years, social and scholarly requirements for systematic management and sharing of research data have become apparent. Major countries including U.S., UK and Australia have begun national policies requiring management and sharing of research data from publicly funded R&D projects. This case study identified four academic libraries in the US with active research data support services and analyzed them in terms of how they established dedicated unit and the extent of services in the areas of instruction, consulting and system support. The analysis provides context for academic libraries in Korea in formulating their future research data strategies. The core of the recommendation is primarily concerned with developing instructional services and strengthening library's capabilities for research data management and sharing.

Understanding Knowledge Sharing in Virtual Communities through Knowledge Seeking Behavior (가상공동체에서 지식탐색을 통한 지식공유에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated knowledge browsing behavior as the factor affecting the increase of knowledge sharing intention. To conduct this study in the specific context of knowledge seeking and sharing behavior of virtual community members, literature on knowledge seeking behavior, meta-knowledge, and knowledge sharing intention was reviewed. Structural Equation Modeling was conducted to analyze survey data to test the research model of this study. The result showed that knowledge browsing have positive effects on creating of virtual community members' subject knowledge and meta-knowledge, which, in turn, affected positively their knowledge sharing intention. One of the main contributions of this study is that knowledge seeking behavior influence one's knowledge sharing intention in a virtual community. Organization managers should consider knowledge seeking behavior as not only a self-interested, consuming activity, but also a productive one through its function of constructing subject knowledge and meta-knowledge.

The effect of supervisor support and co-worker support on knowledge sharing via work engagement (상사 지원과 동료 지원이 일몰입을 매개로 지식공유에 미치는 영향)

  • Knowledge creation has become one of core assets for companies' survival and success, companies are putting their effort to find the way to stimulate sharing knowledge among their workers. In this vein, the purpose of this study was to examine the effect of supervisor support and co-worker support on knowledge sharing and the mediating effects of work engagement. 328 employees from varity of organizations located in Korea particiapted for questionnaire survey. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The result has shown that the static correlation exists between supervisor support, co-worker support and work engagement. Co-worker support had positive influences on knowledge sharing intention. However, supervisor support did not have any influence on knowledge sharing intention. There was a mediate effect of work engagement between both of supervisor and co-worker support and knowledge sharing intention. The study implies that co-worker support is important in order to improve organizational learning and work engagement as a strategy to enhance organizational performance.

The Impacts of Institutional Environment, Social Capital and Strategic Importance on Knowledge Sharing and Performance

  • Employing a sample of 126 suppliers in Korean electronic industry, this research examined the effects of institutional environment, social capital and strategic importance in manufacturer-supplier relationships on knowledge sharing. Building on the relational view and knowledge-based theories, this study proposed that these factors facilitate knowledge sharing in manufacturer-supplier relationships and that knowledge mediates satisfaction between manufacturer-supplier relationships for competitive advantage. Results indicate that institutional environment, social capital and strategic importance in manufacturer-supplier relationships are indeed associated with greater knowledge sharing. Inter-firm satisfaction is, in turn, positively associated with knowledge sharing for competitive advantage through technical support, financial support, competence increasing. Further, results provide evidence that knowledge sharing plays a mediating role between institutional environment, social capital, strategic importance and inter-firm satisfaction.
