The reason why modern companies adopt cutting-edge technologies aggressively is mainly due to maintain the competitiveness in this cut-throat business environment. One of the most important technology factors to maintain the competitiveness in this modern e-business era is how to adopt and apply information technology(IT). More and more companies are trying to implement their management strategies by applying IT, and therefore it is now important to understand IT strategy. Many of leading-edge companies believe that they need a structured and systematic approach, called ISP (Information Strategy Planning), to secure competitive IT capability, and heavily invest their resources to achieve the excellence in IT. However, eventual effects from those investments are not always proportional since every investment has its own investment parameters and objectives. In this research, we tried to develop a systematic model to verify the relation between the business competitiveness and ISP. First, in order to include the factor 'ISP', we modified the models suggested by past research results, and then analyzed the influences from IT investments and quality of ISP on the IT excellence of businesses. To prove the validity of the developed model, several sets of surveys were performed for 66 companies in various industries including electronics, manufacturing, finance, and service. The result of the research has shown that the quality of ISP impacts more on a corporate's business competitiveness, but none on business output.

The global economy and the air transport business have been affected since the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. As countries tighten restrictions on international movements, the growing emphasis on air cargo puts pressure on airports to maintain and upgrade their cargo policies, facilities, and operations. Hence, ensuring the competitiveness of cargo airports becomes pivotal for airports survival under the volatile global demand. The study aims to evaluate the importance of the competitiveness factors for cargo airports and identify areas for further improvement. The study applies the Best-Worst Method (BWM) to assess the cargo airports' competitiveness factors: 'Transport Capacity,' 'Airport Operations and Facility Capacity,' 'Economic Growth,' 'Financial Performance,' and 'Airport Brand Value.' The selected airports include Heathrow Airport, Aéroport de Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Hong Kong International Airport, and Incheon International Airport. The results identify 'Transport Capacity' as the most significant competitiveness factor, and Hong Kong International Airport the best performing cargo airport. This research forms a reference framework for evaluating cargo airports' competitive position, which may help identify airports' relative strengths and weaknesses. Moreover, this framework can also serve as a tool facilitating the strategic design of airports that may accommodate both air cargo and passenger demand flexibly under the demand uncertainty.

Purpose - This article aims to explore the mechanism in which environmental regulations have positive effects on corporate competitiveness through technological innovation. This study also attempts to examine the relationship between environmental regulation and corporate competitiveness from a technological innovation perspective and explore a desirable relationship between those two. Research design, data, and methodology - Discourse analysis and SWOT analysis is used in terms of methodology, and this study is based on literature review theoretically. The methodology is employed in various ways to describe a variety of environmental issues. Result - The results support that technological innovation is able to play a role in coordinating relationship between environmental regulations and corporate competitiveness. The uncertainty and time lag problems innate to technological innovation function as disturbing factors for individual companies to actively increase R&D investment in response to environmental regulations. Environmental regulations may be considered to be working as a factor consolidating corporate competitiveness through technological innovation to respond to the environmental regulations including climate change issue. Conclusion - This study proposes that to achieve two goals of environmental protection and corporate competitiveness consolidation, policy support from various aspects is implied to be required. This implies that environmental regulations and technical innovation must be harmoniously balanced for future corporate success.
Purpose: Research on attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an important role in helping provinces attract more FDI projects. However, with local competition, FDI enterprises also have to consider their investment. This study evaluates the provincial competitiveness to attract FDI in Thai Nguyen province, a province of Vietnam. In which provincial distribution of competitiveness is measured through nine indicators. Research design, data, and methodology: The study collects data (FDI and the provincial competitiveness index) from 2006 to 2020. The study uses Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to text the impact of distribution of competitivenes on foreign direct investment. With time-series, the ARDL is suitable for data analysis. Results: The regression results indicate that the competition index of market entry and informal costs negatively impact attracting FDI into the province; The human resource training quality index has a positive effect on FDI. The results show that FDI enterprises pay much attention to business establishment procedures, hidden costs, and quality of human resources in the province. Conclusions: At the same time, in terms of practice, the results of this study, the authors also offer solutions to help improve the ability to attract FDI into Thai Nguyen province. The significant provincial competitiveness indicators should be taken into account for improvement first.

Design/methodology - The comparative analysis method was used to compare and analyze the international competitiveness of telecommunication service trade among China, Japan, and South Korea from the three aspects of market share, trade surplus, and export proportion represented by MS, TC, G-L, RCA, and CA. Findings - The international competitiveness of telecommunication service trade among China, Japan, and South Korea does not have competitive advantages. China is larger than Japan and South Korea, but only close to average globally, and its share of trade in telecommunications services is lower than Japan and South Korea's. Originality/value - This paper tries to explore international competitiveness in the field of telecommunication service trade, and through the comparison of five indicators to find problems in China, so as to put forward countermeasures to improve the international competitiveness of China's telecommunication service trade, and lay a foundation for subsequent research on the source factors of international competitiveness.
This study aims to develop a framework to measure MOT competitiveness of enterprises while proposing a concept called management of technology competitiveness (MOTC). The framework of MOTC based on both resource-based view and competence-based view is consisted of technology competitiveness and management competitiveness. A variety of metrics to measure MOTC are extracted through substantial literature review. As technology competitiveness metric, this study examines R&D investment, R&D workforce, R&D facilities, intellectual property assets, and utilization of information and communication technology; as metric of management competitiveness, leadership competitiveness, maturity of the R&D systems, collaboration and partnership, learning and innovation, and commercialization are considered. We then confirm and derive the multi-dimensions of MOTC through its reliability and validity analysis. The study is expected to provide useful guidelines and references for enterprises' self-evaluation of technology and management competitiveness that is equally applicable to small, medium, and large enterprises that must compete in the global marketplace.

Economic and non-economic satisfaction have significant effects on business trust. Economic and non-economic satisfaction did not influence recommendation intention directly, but influence it indirectly. Business trust has a significant effect on business recommendation intention. Conclusions - After starting network marketing business as an independent operator, the competitiveness of the company is meaningless, and product competitiveness and system competitiveness are important factors for economic and non-economic satisfaction. Therefore, network marketing companies and independent operators should prioritize product competitiveness and system competitiveness between business development. This study empirically tests post-M&A performance through competitiveness variables based on extensive firm-based panel data over the past 26 years in the world steel industry. Different measures of profitability, productivity, efficiency, market share, and growth rate which are considered as critical factors of competitiveness are used in the analysis. In particular, this paper tries to separate M&A samples into two cases; horizontal integration (between steel makers) and vertical integration (between steel makers and iron ore suppliers/steel consuming firms). Merged firms show significant improvement in competitiveness relative to other individual firms in the steel industry.
