  • This study will explore the possibility of applying process innovation as a public library for business innovation. In order to do this, the study defines the concept of process innovation through the literature review. According to survey and focus group interviews with librarians working for public libraries, this study will organize work done at libraries into the following categories: acquisition, resource management, user management, user services, programs, volunteer management, marketing, library computerization system, facility management, general affairs and statistical management. In addition, through face-to-face surveys with librarians working for public libraries it is confirmed that there are issues within acquisition, user management, and applied process innovation. In response to these issues a new process has been developed. Using this new approach, book contract procedure and requests for book related work could be improved and optimized. In the user management section, the study analyzes the requirements and subscription procedures for members through a website survey of 30 public libraries in the United States and then provides an improved system through process analysis of the membership process of Korean public libraries. It is expected that the new system will contribute to improvements in user satisfaction as well as improvements in library workflow.

  • The interest in traditional Korean housing has greatly increasing in Korean housing market. However, it is difficult to wildly disseminate for a high construction cost reason. In order to effectively facilitate the Hanok construction, Korean government has initiated a project that develops a new style Korean housing, which meets the requirements of low cost and modernized life style. Cost of building is mainly affected by materials and construction methods. Hanok has some special commodities those significantly impact the cost. In order to effectively cut down the costs, well-organized planning for costs is very important. Also, improving the productivity by utilizing new materials and methods can result in cost down. In this context, this paper compared and analyzed two different types of Korean housing; one is a modernized Korean house which used new materials and methods, the other is a traditional Korean house which was build up by purely traditional methods. Productivity has also been compared and analyzed for 5 major commodities between two types of models. Based on these comparative data, effect of cost down by new model has been analyzed. As a result it is confirmed that by using the new materials and methods could highly effect to increasing productivity and cost down. Especially, the cost of Roofing have been more influenced by using new material while the Wood and Finishes have been influenced by new construction method. Construction cost of Foundation (Earthwork, Concrete, Masonry) and Openings were influenced both factors, changing of materials and methods.

  • Capillary electrophoresis (CE) with rice proteins was used to discriminate 10 domestic rice cultivars in less than 25 min. Most cultivars were differentiated quickly and easily using P-ACN buffer system. CE of rice prolamins allowed classifying ten varieties of Korean rice into three groups. Peak h was characteristic peak for Dongjinbyeo, Gaehwabyeo and Yongnambyeo which were classified into the group of Dongjinbyeo. Chuchungbyeo, Odaebyeo, Mangeumbyeo and Bonggwangbyeo easily differentiated from the group of Dongjinbyeo by the absence of peak h which were classified into the group of Chuchungbyeo. Peak g typical for Illpumbyeo, Hwaseungbyeo and Hwayoungbyeo accounted for 70% of total peak area. They belong to the group of Illpumbyeo. Some cultivars showed specific peak patterns among ten cultivars, Illpumbyeo was differentiated from others by several peaks between peak c and peak f, and the peak d was apparently detected in Odaebyeo not in others. Other minor differences were also found within each group. The result of the study showed that CE has potential for discrimination of rice cultivars. It also possesses the inherent advantages such as low mass requirements, fast seperations, and quantitative analysis through on-capillary UV detection.

  • According to the requirements of ANSI B3l.8, the pipe thickness is determined with hoop stress resulted from internal pressure. And the other loads induced by soil, vehicle, thermal expansion, ground subsidence, etc shall be evaluated rationally. There are two ways of calculating stress of buried gas pipeline. The first is FEM. FEM can calculate the stress regardless of the complexity of pipeline shape and boundary conditions. But it needs high cost and long time. The second is the way to use equation. The reliable equations to calculate the stress of buried gas pipeline was developed and have been used in designing pipeline and evaluating pipeline safety, But these equation are very difficult to understand and use for non-specialist. For easy calculation of non-specialist, the new computer program to calculate stress of buried natural gas pipeline have been developed. The stress is calculated by the equations and extrapolation of the graph resulted from FEM. The full paper is consist of series I and II. In this paper, series I, the calculating equation of the program is explained in detail.

  • We have developed a prototype patient monitoring system including module-based bedside units, interbed network, and central stations. A bedside unit consists of a color monitor and a main CPU unit with peripherals including a module controller. It can also include up to 3 module cases and 21 different modules. In addition to the 3-channel recorder module, six different physiological parameters of ECG, respiration, invasive blood pressure, noninvasive blood pressure, body temperature, and arterial pulse oximetry with plethysmogaph are provided as parameter modules. Modules and a module controller communicate with up to 1Mbps data rate through an intrabed network based on RS-485 and HDLC protocol. Bedside units can display up to 12 channels of waveforms with any related numeric informations simultaneously. At the same time, it communicates with other bedside units and central stations through interbed network based on 10Mbps Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol. Software far bedside units and central stations fully utilizes gaphical user interface techniques and all functions are controlled by a rotate/push button on bedside unit and a mouse on central station. The entire system satisfies the requirements of AAMI and ANSI standards in terms of electrical safety and performances. In order to accommodate more advanced data management capabilities such as 24-hour full disclosure, we are developing a relational database server dedicated to the patient monitoring system. We are also developing a clinical workstation with which physicians can review and examine the data from patients through various kinds of computer networks far diagnosis and report generation. Portable bedside units with LCD display and wired or wireless data communication capability will be developed in the near future. • The purpose of this study is to elaborate the request for proposal (RFP) for the localization parts development support project of core parts carried out by the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality. The RFP is the most important document throughout the localization parts project, including project announcement and developer selection, design and test of the development product, final evaluation, and standardization of the project. However, if the RFP is not established at the beginning of the project, there is an increased risk of business failure due to frequent changes by various reasons. In this study, we recognized the necessity of elaboration of RFP and applied the AHP method for quantitative elaboration. Eight requirements of the RFP related to the mechanical/electrical performance of localized development products and three elaboration methods for each requirement were designed in a hierarchical structure, and each weight was calculated by applying the 5-point scale AHP method. The AHP survey was conducted with 20 developers participating in the localization parts project, and the consistency ratio of the AHP survey result was less than 0.1. The elaboration method with the highest value among the calculated weights is classified, and the analysis results and future research directions of the elaboration method are presented.

  • According to the Personal Information Protection Act(PIPA) which is legislated in March 2011, the individual or company that handles personal information, called Personal information processor, should encrypt some kinds of personal information kept in his Database. For convenience sake we call it DB Encryption in this paper. Law enforcement and the implementation agency accordingly are being strengthen the supervision that the status of DB Encryption is being properly applied and implemented as the PIPA. However, the process of DB Encryption is very complicate and difficult as well as there are many factors to consider in reality. For example, there are so many considerations and requirements in the process of DB Encryption like pre-analysis and design, real application and test, etc.. And also there are surely points to be considered in related system components, business process and time and costs. Like this, although there are plenty of factors significantly associated with DB Encryption, yet more concrete and realistic validation entry seems somewhat lacking. In this paper, we propose a realistic DB Encryption Assurance Framework that it is acceptable and resonable in the performance of the PIPA duty (the aspect of the individual or company) and standard direction of inspection and verification of DB Encryption (the aspect of law enforcement).

  • A new precast concrete (PC) beam and column connection system using non-prestressed wire strands was recently developed. The system is composed of one unit of two-storied PC-column and PC-beams with U-shaped ends. The connection part of the column and beams is reinforced by deformed bars and non-prestressed wire strands in combination for the improvement of workability. Structural performance of this system was verified by several experimental studies. The purpose of this study is developing a design concept of the beam reinforced by deformed bars and non-prestressed wire strands in combination, in terms of the cross-sectional analysis, based on the preceded experiment. A minimum and maximum reinforcement ratio and the calculation formula for the strength of flexural member reinforced by reinforcements having different yield strengths are derived based on KBC2009. Under consideration existing research results for the application of high strength reinforcement bars, the design yield strength of the non-prestressed wire strand is suggested. An example for the cross section design, satisfying the serviceability requirements, demonstrates the applicability of the design concept developed in the study.

  • The Enterprise Service Bus based on Java Business Integration is an web service standard and one of the methods for implementing distribution channels of Service Oriented Architecture. Consisting of open source group, extensive venders and users, the ESB based JBI has the problems of ineffectiveness as well as advantages of extensibility of service plug-in. That is, in case users need to use Service plug-in, manual connection of packaging process and sequential distribution method is required. This study, therefore, proposes as a way of trouble-shooting the user-oriented component deployment tool which can manage entire process for deploying The ESB middleware platform to Service unit. At the same time, this study elicited the requirements based on issues of JBI-based ESB and has developed the modeling property, packaging, distribution and evaluation thru Schema analysis of JBI-compatible component. Using the deployment tool this study proposed, users will be able to perform and manage the whole deploying process without additional manual work for connecting component. Not only it is expected that interface based on Graphic User Interface provide usability and convenience but they can also minimize the errors rate through component and route validity verification function provided in deployment tool.
