Purpose: The aim of this research is to determine whether there is a significant correlation between the angle of the hallux valgus and dorsi-flexion of the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint (1st MPJ) as a physical factor that has a significant influence on healthy human walking. Methods: The subjects of this research were 65 female adults (130 feet) and the methods used included recording of real measurements and conducting a questionnaire. The acquired data is analyzed by the 'Simple Pearson Correlation Analysis' and 'Repeated Measures Analysis' methods. Results: The research result shows that the left area of -0.74706 and the right area of -0.76 have a relatively high negative correlation (p<0.00). Also, after conducting the 'Repeated Measures Analysis of Variance' of the angles of the hallux valgus and dorsi-flexion of the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint (1st MPJ), the result also shows that the left and right areas of -0.75 have a relatively high negative correlation. Conclusion: The present study was performed for the identification of a significant correlation between the angle of the hallux valgus and dorsi-flexion of the 1st MPJ. From the results of this study, we confirmed that there is a clear tendency for the average distribution rates of Hallux Valgus and Hallux Rigidus (Hallux Limitus) of women to show a higher increase in proportion to age.
Fowl red mite, Dermanyssus gallinae, is the most important ectoparasite affecting egg layers worldwide. More than 35 compounds have been used for fowl red mite control. Although some of them are efficient, several compounds are unsuitable in terms of food safety and environmental problems. Some compounds are efficient in theory but inadequate in practice. It is also expensive in material and labor to control effectively. Effective doses are very close to toxic doses and repeated treatment is required. Repeated, long term treatment of compounds on fowl red mite populations, may cause heritable resistance against the mites. In this study, antigenicity of fowl red mite and house dust mite, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, were identified by SDS-PAGE, silver staining, Western blotting and ELISA to investigate immune effects against fowl red mite using somatic antigens of fowl red mite and house dust mite. By SDS-PAGE, silver staining and Western blotting, several common antigens (110, 60, 56, 49, 46 kDa) of both fowl red mite and house dust mite were recognized. To identify immune effect of somatic antigens of fowl red mite and house dust mite, sixty white leghorn broilers(1 week old) were used. Among sixty white leghorn broilers, twenty were immunized with fowl red mite somatic antigens(Group I), twenty immunized with house dust mite antigens(Group II), and twenty were control group without antigen(Group III), respectively. After immunization, it was identified that antibody titers were increased both in group and II. Then all groups were challenged with fowl red mites. After 2 months, measurements of body weights, packed cell volume(PCV), ELISA OD values and numbers of mites were significant(p<0.05). These results suggest that fowl red mite and house dust mite, which are easy to collect and maintain, can be good vaccine candidates against fowl red mite in chicken.

Background The survival rate of grafted fat is difficult to predict, and repeated procedures are frequently required. In this study, the effects of the freezing period of harvested adipose tissue and the addition of human adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ASCs) on the process of fat absorption were studied. Methods Adipose tissue was obtained from patients who underwent a lipoaspirated fat graft. The fat tissue was cryopreserved at $-20^{\circ}C$ in a domestic refrigerator. A total of 40 nude mice were used. The mice in the experimental group received three different subcutaneous injections in the back: an injection of fresh fat and ASCs, an injection of fat that had been frozen for one month and ASCs, and an injection of fat that had been frozen for two months and ASCs. The control mice received fat grafts without ASCs. The mice were sacrificed at four or eight weeks after the procedure, and the grafted fat tissues were harvested. The extracted fat was evaluated using photographic analysis, volume measurements, and histological examination. Results In the control group, the fat resorption rates four weeks after transplantation in the grafts of fresh fat, fat that had been frozen for one month, and fat that had been frozen for two months were 21.14%, 22.46%, and 42.56%, respectively. In the experimental group, the corresponding resorption rates were 6.68%, 13.0%, and 33.9%, respectively. Conclusions ASCs can increase the fat graft survival rate. The use of ASCs in fat grafting can reduce the need for repeated fat grafts and provide good long term results.
The study focuses on the Repeated Measurements Design (RMD) which observations are periodically made for identical subjects within definite time periods. One of the purposes of this design is to monitor and keep track of replicated records within regular period over years. This paper also presents the classification models of RMD that is developed according to the number of factors in Between-Subject (BS) variates and Within-Subject (WS) variates. The types of models belong to each number of factors: One factor is 0BS 1WS. Two factors are 1BS 1WS and 0BS 2WS. Three factors are 1BS 2WS and 2BS 1WS. Lastly, the four factors include model of 2BS 2WS In addition, the study explains the generation mechanism of models for RMD using Generalizability Design (GD). GD is a useful method for practitioners to identify linear model of experimental design, since it generates a Venn diagram. Lastly, the research develops three types of 1BS 2WS RMDs with crossed factors and nested factors. Those are random models, mixed models and fixed models and they are presented by using Generalizability Design, $(S:A{\times}B){\times}C$. Moreover, the example of applications and its implementation steps of models developed in the study are presented for better comprehension.

The objective of this study is to investigate whether CGS generated in IGCC satisfies the fine aggregate quality items specified in KS F 2527(Concrete Aggregate) through the pretreatment process system and the quality improvement the system. The statistical significance of the pretreatment process was analyzed through Repeated Measurements ANOVA as measured values according to individually pretreatment process system. As a result of the analysis, In the case of CGS fine aggregate quality before and after the pretreatment process system, the density increased 5.2 %, the absorption rate decreased by 1.86 %, the 0.08 mm passing ratio decreased by 2.25 %, and Fineness Modulus and Particle-size Distribution were also found to be adjustable. It was found that the pretreatment process system was significant in improving the quality of CGS.
According to repeated measurements and correction procedures, the accuracy of the phase-shifting profilometry was developed. At first, after 20 final models for maxillary complete denture were duplicated , the mucosa sur-faces of models were measured with the phase-shifting proflometry and each mirror view of these was calibrated. Maxillary casts were divided into 4 groups of 5 casts per each, and wax dentures with 2 sheets of baseplate wax and artificial teeth were made and then cured according to the curing method of each group. Group I ; quick curing with QC-20 acrylic resin Group II ; 9 hour curing with QC-20 acrylic resin Group III ; SR-Ivocap system Group IV ; metal base and quick curing with QC-20 acrylic resin. After curing, polishing, and storing at $37^{\circ}C$ in saline for 30 days, the forms of the impression surface of the dentures were measured with the phase-shifting profilometry. Then, the impression surface form of each denture was placed in the optimal position of com-parison with the mirror view of the same final cast. The amount and direction of distortion of each denture was analyzed and the effects of polishing and storage in each denture were compared, The obtained results were as follows : 1. In Group I, the denture was observed as the appearance distorted in the opposite direction of the mucosa and the postero-lateral part of palatal portion of the denture was observed as the appearance separated from the mucosa. Also, the buccal flanges of the denture were observed as the appearance distorted in the direction of the mucosa. 2. In Group II, the postero-lateral part of palatal portion of the denture was observed as the appearance separated slightly from the mucosa. The bilateral buccal flanges of denture were observed as the appearance distorted severely in the direction of the mucosa. 3. In Group III the bilateral part of the residual ridge crest portions and the buccal flanges of the denture were observed as the appearance distorted in the direction of the mucosa, and specially, the buccal flanges of the maxillary tuberosities were distorted severely. 4. In Group IV, the acrylic resin base of the buccal portion of the denture was observed as the appearance distorted in the opposite direction of the mucosa. 5. The phase-shifting profilometry, done with repeated measurements and correction procedures, was effective in comparing the amount and direction of distortion at every position after the laboratory work and the delivery of maxillary complete denture.
Precise and accurate measuring of tooth size is essential procedure in orthodontic diagnosis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reproducibility and accuracy of tooth size measurements with regard to tooth and investigator. Five investigators measured the size of one side of teeth, from central incisor to first molar, on 20 sets of casts that show a moderate degree of crowding. Mesio-distal width was measured with digital vernier calipers in each tooth and this procedure was repeated three times at two weeks interval. To obtain a standard measurement for each tooth, dental casts were cut into individual tooth, and its width was measured with micrometer. The difference between the measurement from dental cast and the standard measurement was defined as the measurement error. Through various statistical analyses, following results were obtained. 1. The reproducibility did not show significant differences with regard to tooth or investigator. 2. The measurement error showed some difference with regard to tooth and investigator. 3. The magnitude of the measurement error showed increasing tendency from anterior to posterior teeth with maximum value in the first molar. 4. While the measurements obtained on study casts generally showed smaller number compared to standard measurements, the direction of the difference showed variability according to tooth or investigator. 5. The measurement errors did not show significant correlations with the degree of crowding. The results of the present study indicate that the possibility of tooth size measurement error should be taken into consideration when diagnosing an orthodontic case.
A total of 864 measurements for P- and S- wave velocity of acrylic and stainless steel core samples have been performed with respect to their lengths and axial load applied. S-wave velocity measurement was much harder than P-wave velocity, so that it showed higher deviation in measured S-wave velocity with respect to repeated measurement, length of the cores, and the axial load applied. Velocity measurements for acrylic cores showed more stable and less than half of the variation between the measurements than the stainless steel cores. This seems to be come from better coupling between the transducers and acrylic cores than stainless cores, and from larger value of the first arrival time in a similar system noise environments. From the analysis of the 864 measurements, it is recommended that the length of the core be 60 ~ 90 mm, axial load between 20 kg (27.7 $N/cm^2$) and 30 kg (41.6 $N/cm^2$) for measurement of wave velocity of the acrylic and stainless steel cores. Especially for measuring S-wave velocity of stainless steel core, core length should be less than 50 mm, otherwise it will be affected by mode conversion or others. These results can be used in measurement and correction for system delay in wave velocity measurement for rock cores.

This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the difference in measurement between conventional orthodontic analysis and artificial intelligence orthodontic analysis in pediatric and adolescent patients aged 7 - 15 with the mixed and permanent dentition. A total of 60 pediatric and adolescent patients (30 mixed dentition, 30 permanent dentition) who underwent lateral cephalometric radiograph for orthodontic diagnosis were randomly selected. Seventeen cephalometric landmarks were identified, and 22 measurements were calculated by 1 examiner, using both conventional analysis method and deep learning-based analysis method. Errors due to repeated measurements were assessed by Pearson's correlation coefficient. For the mixed dentition group and the permanent dentition group, respectively, a paired t-test was used to evaluate the difference between the 2 methods. The difference between the 2 methods for 8 measurements were statistically significant in mixed dentition group: APDI, SNA, SNB, Mandibular plane angle, LAFH (p < 0.001), Facial ratio (p = 0.001), U1 to SN (p = 0.012), and U1 to A-Pg (p = 0.021). In the permanent dentition group, 4 measurements showed a statistically significant difference between the 2 methods: ODI (p = 0.020), Wits appraisal (p = 0.025), Facial ratio (p = 0.026), and U1 to A-Pg (p = 0.001). Compared with the time-consuming conventional orthodontic analysis, the deep learning-based cephalometric system can be clinically acceptable in terms of reliability and validity. However, it is essential to understand the limitations of the deep learning-based programs for orthodontic analysis of pediatric and adolescent patients and use these programs with the proper assessment.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the kV on fractal dimension of trabecular bone in digital radiographs. Materials and Methods: 16 bone cores were obtained from patients who had taken partial resection of tibia due to accidents. Each bone core along with an aluminum step wedge was radiographed with an occlusal film at 0.08 sec and with the constant film-focus distance (32 cm). All radiographs were acquired at 60, 75, and 90 kV. A rectangular ROI was drawn at medial part, distal part, and the bone defect area of each bone core image according to each kV. The directional fractal dimension was measured using Fourier Transform spectrum, and the anisotropy was obtained using directional fractal dimension. The values were compared by the repeated measures ANOVA. Results : The fractal dimensions increased along with kV increase (p < 0.05). The anisotropy measurements did not show statistically significant difference according to kV change. The fractal dimensions of the bone defect areas of the bone cores have low values contrast to the non-defect areas of the bone cores. The anisotropy measurements of the bone defect areas were lower than those of the non-defect areas of the bone cores, but not statistically significant. Conclusion: Fractal analysis can notice a difference of a change of voltage of x-ray tube and bone defect or not. And anisotropy of a trabecular bone is coherent even with change of the voltage of x-ray tube or defecting off a part of bone.
