  • For the quality of life and independent living of the disabled, government has provided financial supports for housing renovation and improvement projects for the disabled. However, there is a limited budget which should be properly distributed for a number of disabled families. Therefore, it is important to decide which parts should be improved for housing renovation for the disabled. Financial and administrative supports for the renovation should improve housing conditions in terms of accessibility (barrier free) and should bring the better comfort for the disabled. The purpose of this study was to describe the characteristics of the housing renovation projects, to investigate whether the renovation influence occupants' satisfaction, and to examine which factor such as renovation cost and renovation elements would influence the degree of satisfaction for residents with disabilities. Participants of this study are limited to the recipients of financial supports for housing renovation and refurbishment from City of Seoul and Ministry of Health and Welfare. A total of 153 cases were analyzed using post occupancy survey and the project cost data for the participants' housing were collected. Overall, more cost were used for modification for housing condition than for removal of architectural barriers. Housing type and physical condition of the housing affects cost for renovation more significantly. Overall the improvement cost is positively related to resident's satisfaction using regression analysis. In addition, it is important to meet the residents specific needs for repair, refurbishment, and renovation of housing.

The purpose of this study was to investigate various factor such as renovation cost and renovation elements, influence satisfaction of residents with disabilities. Participants of this study are limited to the recipients of financial supports for housing renovation and refurbishment from City of Seoul and Ministry of Heal and Welfare. A total of 155 cases were analyzed using post occupancy survey and analysis of project cost data. Overall, more cost were used for modification for housing condition improvement than the cost for removal of architectural barriers. Renovation cost differences were not apparent among the type and extent of an individual's disabilities. Instead existing housing type and physical condition for the housing affects cost for renovation more significantly. Overall the renovation cost is positively related to resident's satisfaction using regression analysis.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the dry matter yield and quality of the before and after renovation of summer depression damaged pasture, and carried out at Chungnam National University ffom 1997 to 1999. The yield of DM in first and second year of after renovation, comparing with those of before renovation(6,547kg/ha), significantly increase obtained 12,291kglha and 13,50Ikg/ha, respectively(P<0.05). In the chemical composition, CP content and DM digestibility were markedly increased comparing with those of before renovation(P<0.05), but the contents of NDF, ADF, cellulose and lignin were decreased respectively(P<0.05). In the botanical composition, weeds after renovation was markedly decreased comparing with before renovation, but increased the percentage of herbage in summer depression damaged pasture. The results from this study, It is proved that a renovation method, which was conducted by two times of reseeding and raking, was effective in recovering botanical composition of herbage, and enhancing productivity and upgrading quality in summer depression damaged pasture. • Nowadays, many educational facilities are being renovated. However, due to the absence of a system for post renovation of educational spaces, users are less satisfied with the spaces after the renovation and there is a limit in establishing future directions for improving educational space renovation. From this point of view, this study was conducted to increase the users' satisfaction in renovation space planning of educational spaces and to establish a system for management after renovation. As a specific research method, the space preference of students was used to evaluate the space after renovation. By researching the opinions of the students who use the most educational space, not only the direction of the renovation plan of the future educational space can be given but also the user's opinion can be reflected in the spatial plan in detail. In terms of management of future educational spaces, this study can be used as a basic study for developing post evaluation indicators for renovation of educational facilities.

  • The Purpose of this paper is to describe a decision model which can be used to establish an implementation system of renovation for university building. Any implementation model relies on the work scopes of renovation which varies design, project cost, construction duration. The renovation system is subject to evaluation of work steps which is different from each project. Accordingly, the decision model of renovation is necessary to use the application of the analytical hierarchy process. Many of the performance steps used in general renovation condition may be known with uncertainty. This research has shown how probabilities can be explicitly incorporated in the decision model of renovation to assess this uncertainty.

  • The H water treatment plant has been operating since 1982 and has had no renovation. It is assumed that the filters have been operated for more than 30 years and therefore are deteriorated. Many of the filters show an unequal state of air scouring during backwashing. For this study one filter, which was presumed most deteriorated among eighteen filters, was selected as a model filter for renovation. Some of the effects seen after renovation of the underdrain system were a lower average filtrated turbidity by approximately 0.02 NTU and an equal backwash state throughout the filter bed. Sand wash efficiencies by backwash before renovation of the underdrain system were 28%, 8%, and 5% at the surface, 50 cm depth, and 100 cm depth, respectively, and after renovation of the underdrain system were 94%, 26%, and 15%, respectively. The standard deviation of the effective sand size was 0.025-0.033 mm before renovation of the underdrain system and 0.002-0.011 mm after renovation of the underdrain system, meanings there was equal backwash pressure throughout the filter. Filtration time after renovation was approximately 2 times longer than before renovation.
