  • A set of microwave remote sensing data collected with the newly developed UMass Imaging Wind and Rain Airborne Profiler (IWRAP) during the 2002 Atlantic Hurricane Season was analyzed to further our understanding of the effect of precipitation on scatterometer wind vector retrieval. Coincident surface wind speed and precipitation measurements were provided by the UMass Simultaneous Frequency Microwave Radiometer (SFMR). The differences between the wind estimations from IWRAP and SFMR under precipitation conditions of 0-100mm/hr and wind speed of 0-60m/s was calculated, from which the effect of precipitation on the wind vector retrieval using scatterometry is analyzed qualitatively.

  • In this paper, we describe the development of a Southeast Asia environmental information web portal based on near real time MODIS Level 2 and higher level products generated from the direct broadcast data received at the Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP). This web portal aims to deliver timely environmental information to interested users in the region. Interpreted data will be provided instead of raw satellite data to reduce operational requirements on our system, and to enable users with limited bandwidths to have access to the system.

  • Satellite IKONOS images are one of important remote sensing data sources as today because of their very high spatial resolution. Their detections for islands and offshore oceanic features with multi-dimension and multi-scales information, specially some small islands, are of great potential. Their application abilities in islands and offshore detections are addressed at the first of the paper. And image processing technologies and the information extracting methodologies are described. Some results on remote sensing of the islands and their nearby object features are shown in details. Discussions and conclusions are carried out simply at the final.

  • The prototype radiometric calibration algorithm of the imagers for IR channels has been developed according to the Weinreb's method. Applying the algorithm to the GOES-12 count data, we have shown that the calibration coefficients (slope and intercept) evaluated by the algorithm gives good agreement with the NESDIS's ones, and that the scanning error due to the scan mirror emissivity and stripe error are almost eliminated by the East/West angle dependent scan-mirror correction and the respective calculation of intercept for each North/South scan line, respectively.

  • Ground truth measurement system using RC helicopter is very useful to measure BRDF. The helicopter is operated human operator but it can keep its position by GPS aided hovering system. We developed the measurement system and have done ground truth in Mongolia in the summer of 1999 and have made sure the system can measure BRDF expectedly.

  • To protect the digital image, video and audio from non-authorized use, the digital watermarking technology has received a great attention in the field of multimedia in recent years . An overview of the development of watermark techniques is given in the current paper followed by a discussion of potential application of spatial domain, transform domain watermark techniques in remote sensing images copyright protection and verification in different forms of processed images.

  • This study was emphasized on the land use classification by Remote Sensing Technique. Land cover maps about the major urbans, Seoul, Tajeon regions, its of each classified classes were extracted by use of Landsat MSS Data and Digital Image Processing System. From the results of this study, it was proved that land use classification by Remote Sensing technique could be used to obtain fully fruitful Results.
