  • Objectives: To report the effect of cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture on the lung cancer patient. Methods: Treatment of cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture was conducted on the patient during 7 months. Pharmacopuncture therapy was done twice a week with a dosage of 2ml per each treatment. Computed Topography(CT) was performed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy. Results: After the treatment of 7 months, chest CT revealed the mass size was decreased. Conclusions: This case provides us a possibility that cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture offers potential benefits for lung cancer patient.

  • Behçet disease (BD) is rare in childhood. We report a 9-year-old boy with neuro-Behçet disease who presented diplopia and weakness on the left side after a cerebral concussion. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed hyperintensity of the right mesodiencephalic junction on T2-weighted and fluid attenuated inversion recovery images. Prednisolone administration resulted in complete remission and normalization of abnormal MRI finding. Brain MRI is a useful diagnostic tool when the neurological sign is the first symptom of subclinical BD.

  • The authors describe two cases of Brown-Sequard syndrome associated with cervical disc herniation. In both cases, magnetic resonance images of the cervical spine showed a large paramedian disc herniation at C5-C6 with ipsilateral severe spinal cord compression. Microsurgical removal of the herniated disc via anterior foraminotomy was performed and complete decompression of the spinal cord was achieved. Postoperatively, the neurological symptoms recovered rapidly and both patients experienced a complete remission of their symptoms. Although Brown-Sequard syndrome is rarely associated with degenerative cervical spine disease, cervical disc herniation should be kept in mind and prompt evaluations are mandatory. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first reported case of Brown-Sequard syndrome produced by cervical disc herniation which was treated by anterior foraminotomy.

  • Although prompt diagnosis and emergent surgical intervention are important in acute spinal subdural hematoma (SSDH), some cases with spontaneous remission of symptom and hematoma without surgery have been reported. We present a case of acute nontraumatic SSDH presenting with transient left hemiplegia for 4 hours. A magnetic resonance imaging study of cervical spine confirmed SSDH with C3-6 cervical cord compression at the left side. The patient had conservative management without recurrence. Although hemiplegia is an unusual clinical manifestation of SSDH, it should be differentiated from that of cerebrovascular origin promptly. Conservative management may be an alternative therapeutic option for selective cases with transient neurological deficits.

  • In prolonged chronic osteomyelitis, chronic inflammation and low-grade infections can result in new periosteal bone formation. Chronic osteomyelitis with proliferative periostitis (traditionally termed $Garr{\acute{e}^{\prime}s$ sclerosing osteomyelitis) mainly affects children and young adults. Here, we present two rare cases of an 11-year-old and a 12-year-old patient with suppurative chronic osteomyelitis with proliferative periostitis without any definitive infection source, such as dental caries or periodontitis. The source of infection was likely to be related to the development of a lower right third molar germ with follicular space widening. Management involved antibiotics and the removal of the third molar germ and surgical debridement. Disease remission and a normal appearance was observed at the six-month follow-up visit.

  • Lymphangioma is a congenital malformed lymphatic tumor that rarely involves the tongue. In our clinic, a 10-year-old female presented with lymphangioma circumscriptum involving the right two-thirds of the tongue. We administered an intralesional combination injection of triamcinolone, bleomycin, and bevacizumab as a treatment. Almost complete remission after combination therapy was achieved without complications such as edema, swallowing difficulties or recurrence. Bevacizumab, an inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor, was effective for the treatment of lymphangioma of the tongue in this case. No recurrence was noted at the 1-year follow up.

  • Crohn's disease is a chronic idiopathic inflammatory disease of the intestines characterized by frequent relapse and remission. It often develops in children and adolescents, who are vulnerable to repeated exposure to ionizing radiations. Magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) is an increasingly important radiation-free imaging modality that is used to evaluate pediatric patients with Crohn's disease. MRE can evaluate extraluminal and extraintestinal abnormalities as well as the status of the bowel wall. In addition, MRE has an advantage in the evaluation of the small bowel involvement. MRE can be used for the initial diagnosis of Crohn's disease, and can aid in the assessment of disease activity and complications such as penetrating and fibrostenotic diseases. The aims of this article are to review the MRE technique for obtaining diagnostic and high-quality images and to discuss interpretations of imaging findings in patients with Crohn's disease.

  • Objective : Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease which was characterized by intense pruritus and the course marked by exacerbation and remission. The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatment. Especially new oriental prescription to atopic dermatitis Methods : We treated children patients who had atopic dermatitis and visited oriental hospital of Semyung University. Children patients in this case are two person. The first one is fourteen-years-old female, Other one is seven-years-old boy. And I create a new oriental prescription that named 'Allergy 1' thinking about oriental theory. After then I treated them with 'Allergy 1' herb medication and used two index to assess the severity in atopic dermatitis. Results : Each index show us approximately 70% improvement in atopic dermatitis symptom. Conclusion : On the basis of this cases, It may be considered that treatment of atopic dermatitis should be improved by the treatment of herb medication "Allergy 1"

  • Idiopathic membranous nephropathy is one of the most common causes of nephrotic syndromes in adults but rare in childhood. The occurrence of crescentic glomerulonephritis and membranous nephropathy in a patient is rare. This report describes a patient who initially was diagnosed as a membranous glomerulonephropathy at age 12 years and subsequently developed a crescentic, rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis at age 19 years. The patient responded to methylprednisolone pulse therapy and he maintained with partial remission and normal renal function with residual proteinuria.
