Korean folk medicine 'Ma Ga Mog' has been used as a remedy for rheumatis, cough and bronchitis in Korea. The botanical origin of the crude drug has been no pharmacognostical confirmation on it. To clarify the botanical origin of 'Ma Ga Mog', the anatomical characteristics of the bark of Sorbus amurensis Koehne, S. commixta Hedl. and S. sambucifolia (Cham. et Schltdl.) Roemer var. psuedo-gracilis C. K. Schneid. were studied. As a result, it was clarified that 'Ma Ga Mog' from Korea was the bark of Sorbus amurensis Koehne and S. commixta Hedl.

The null hypothesis being tested by $the{\bar{X}}$ control chart is that the process is in control at a quality level ${\mu}o$. An ${\bar{X}}control$ chart is a tool for detecting process average changes due to assingnable causes. The major weakness of $the{\bar{X}}$ control chart is that it is relatively insensitive to small changes in the population mean. This paper presents one way to remedy this weakness is to allow each plotted value to depend not only on the most recent subgroup average but on some of the other subgroup averages as well. Two approaches for doing this are based on (1) moving averages and (2) exponentially weighted moving averages of forecasting method.

In this study, we suggested the management scheme of analyzing the national and oversea related policy against soil and groundwater contamination by radioactive materials due to nuclear accidents. In Korea, we need to remedy swiftly the contaminated land due to intensive land development demand. So, we need to develop more effective management scheme to recover actively the land contaminated by radioactive materials. We require to improve monitoring network, to expand media-specific monitoring system, to prepare management system for remediation of contaminated land, and to develop flow work for soil and groundwater remediation.

The root of Rumex crispus(Polygonaceae) has been used as one of many oriental medicines ofr the treatment of cathartics, juandice and skin diseases etc. Recently, it is reported as one of anticancer agents and a remedy of acute hepatitis in many traditional medicines. Also, the seed of this plant has been used as a folk medicine for the treatment of digestion problems, liver diseases and many sorts of tumors. In this study we have collected the seed of this plant in rural area and investigated the efficacy of hepatoprotective activity from liver cell damage induced by carbon tetrachloride on mice with methanol extracts, ethylacetate and butanol fractions of this plant

The root of Aralia continentalis Kitagawa(Araliaceae) have been used as an analgesic and fever remedy, and for treatment of rheumatism in Chinese medicine, whereas the young leaves are used for salad. An antioxidant activity of the young leaves of A continentalis was determined by measuring lipid peroxide produced when a mouse liver homogenate was exposed to the air at 37$^{\circ}C$, using 2-thiobarbituric acid(TBA) and by evaluation the radical scavenging activity on 1,l-diphenyl-2 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. Bioassay guided fractionation of MeOH extract isolated six flavonoid compounds as active components from EtOAc fraction. Adenosine and two saponins were isolated from the weak active BuOH fraction. The antioxidant effect by DPPH radical scavenging activity showed that quercetin was the most active among these compounds. Hyperoside and kaempferol were also active, while 6"-O-acetyl astragalin, astragalin, trifolin, adenosine, oleanolic acid 28-O-glucosyl ester and salsoloside C methyl ester were almost inactive. All the compounds were identified by spectroscopic methods.

Irregular fluctuation of penetration depth in CW single mode fiber laser welding is analyzed statistically and chaotically. Among various chaos theories, one of the basic concept referred as Lyapunov exponent is applied to the analysis to quantify the irregularity of penetration. Especially, maximal Lyapunov exponent (MLE) is known as the representative value indicating chaotic degree of the system dynamics. MLE calculation method of experimental data is applied to longitudinal spiking defect in fiber laser weld. Laser power modulation is suggested as a remedy then the computed MLE value is compared to CW case. It is shown that the adoption of chaos theory, MLE computation, can be used as a measurement standard to prove the validity of the solutions to prevent the unexpected chaotic behavior of weld through this work.

This study is a research for an idea of costume containing clothing system in the early Practical Science School. The result are described as follows 1. Bak-Kyem, Han got a critical thought and attitude to seek for practical and rational as pect. Because that he studied an original text and wanted to find a basic meaning. And the result, he made a Pang-Ryeong Symeui. 2. Hwyeng-won, Rue contended that we had to model after chinese costume system to seek for a correct clothing system to harmonize with our culture and regulation. And he sought for the original courtesy because that his basic idea of reformation in the clothing system was an ancient system. But when there was a remedy, he suggested a new system. 3. Ik, lee considered a clothing system with a critical and investigated attitude. In the clothing system, he wanted to keep an original courtesy. But he asserted a constant reformation in evil tradition. He pursued a rationality not to be tied a formality, and he had also a flexibility to recognize real customs.

Company A's core competency is IT internet security services. The Web diagnosis team analyzes the vulnerability of customer's internet web servers and provides remedy reports. Traditionally, Company A management has utilized a simple table format report for resource planning. But these reports do not notify the timing of human resource commitment. So, upper management asked its team leader to organize a task team and design a visual dashboard for decision making with the help of outside professional. The Task team selected the web security diagnosis practice process as a pilot and designed a dashboard for performance evaluation. A structural design process was implemented during the heuristic working process. Some KPI (key performance indicators) for checking the productivity of internet web security vulnerability reporting are recommended with the calculation logics. This paper will contribute for security service management to plan and address KPI design policy, target process selection, and KPI calculation logics with actual sample data.

This paper deals with missile autopilot design for agile turn phase in air-to-air engagement scenarios. To attain a fast response, angle-of-attack (AOA) is adopted for an autopilot command structure. Since a high operational AOA is generally required during the agile turn phase, dealing with the aerodynamic uncertainties can be a challenge for autopilot design. As a remedy, a new controller design method based on robust nonlinear control methodology such as time delay control is proposed in this paper. Nonlinear observer is also proposed to estimate the AOA in the presence of the model uncertainties. The performance of the proposed controller with variation of the aerodynamic coefficients is investigated through numerical simulations.

Aloe, being used widely as a health food and also as a traditional folk remedy for burns and constipation, contains quinone derivatives particularly in its skin. Thus, we have investigated the effect of extracts of Aloe in ethanol metabolism. The dried powder of water extract of skinned Aloe (300 mg/kg body weight given to rats by oral adminstration at 30 min prior to oral adminstration of ethanol given at a does of 4 gm/kg) and the freeze-dried Aloe gel commercial product (600 mg/kg) which was prepared after selective elimination of quinones were found not to increase the ethanol metabolism rate in vivo. This result suggested that quinones, missing from the above preparations, might be responsible for enhancing ethanol metabolism rate.
