This research organization to maintain the stable activity from disaster that it is presented to remedy disaster reduction polices. Disaster reduction policies are as follows. 1. Risk analysis is through the establishment of disaster reduction policies 2. Disaster reduction policies need to organize. 3. To enable local governments must be made of the disaster reduction policies. 4. The settlement requires advanced safety culture.

  • In this study, the deformation analysis of 80mm optical disk holder considering the creep characteristics of plastic materials has been conducted and experimentally verified. It is very important to remedy the unrecoverable creep deformation and relaxation of holding force of an optical disk holder for the reliability of DVDR-P, DVD-ROM. A disk holder inserted in a cartridge case has been kept in the chamber with $60^{\circ}C$ temperature and 90% humidity for 24 hours. After storage test, the arm span and holding force of a disk holder have been measured after 24 hours at room temperature and normal humidity. The predicted results are in good agreement with experimentally measured one.

  • An edge includes information of objects such as magnitude, orientation, and location. Conventional edge detection methods to detect those edge are methods using Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian operator. Existing methods use fixed weighted mask to detect edges, and their edge detection characteristics are insufficient. Therefore, to remedy weakness of conventional methods, in this paper, an edge detection algorithm using weight with standard deviation and thresholds is proposed.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel OFDM-based system structure to reduce PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) and improve BER for OFDM system in which BER enhancement is obtainable based on WH (Walsh-Hadamard) transform to transmit concurrently each data symbol on all subcarriers so as to take advantage of frequency diversity and remedy the effect of channel's frequency-selectivity. By doing so, we also attain a low PAPR. Moreover, DGT (Data Grouping Technique) that is independent on the side information is also applied to further reduce PAPR. The simulation programs have been also performed to verify the validity of the proposed system.

Activities of and Improvements in the“NONGCHON ILGAM GATGI”Project(An Income Generation Project for Rural Areas) (농촌일감갖기 사업의 과제와 발전방안)

  • The objectives of the study were to analyze the current conditions of the“NONGCHON ILGAM GATCI”project (an income generating project for rural areas) and to suggest possible improvements. Among the 567 business which have been supported by the project, implemented in 1990 by the Department of Rural-Home-Improvement of the Rural Development Administration, 361 (63.7%) can be categorized as being in the self-supporting stage. Another 126 (22.2%) can be said to be in the incubation stage. Data for the case study was collected from 20 project sites. The“NONGCHON ILGAM GATCI”project has been progressing successfully when compared with other rural development projects. However, there are still some problems. Among the problems are the lack of a business mindset and management abilities in individuals, and the fact that the businesses and their products are not well hewn on the market. To remedy these problems, education toward improving business and management skills, a unified public relations system, and institutional support from the government are greatly needed.

  • Banhasasim-tang(半夏瀉心湯), oriental medicine, has been used for the treatment of the gastric diseases and cimetidine, H2-receptor blocker, has been also used as the gastric ulcer remedy but has some side action. Therefore the concurrent administration of these two drugs may increase antiulcer activities and also decrease cimetidine's side action more than administrating one by one. In order to investigate antiulcer activities, some experiments were conducted. The concurrent administration of Banhasasim-tang extract(BS) and cimetidine(CM) given intraperitoneally (CM 50mg/kg + BS 300mg/kg and CM 50mg/kg + BS 500 mg/kg), significantly inhibited Shay, aspirin and indomethacin ulcers in rats.

  • 'Hae Dong Gye Meong Hwan' is a Chinese patent medicine, which is used as a cough remedy or an expectorant, for asthma, bronchitis, and so on in Korea. This powdery medicine consist of 14 kinds of crude drugs. For the identification of individual ingredients in the preparation, microscopic method may advantageously be used as it requires only a small amount of specimens. In this paper, the effectiveness of this method is exemplified by the identification of the ingredients.

  • The Korean folk medicine 'Am Cho' has been used as the folk remedy for diuretic, stomach and liver cancer. The botanical origin of the crude drug has not been studied pharmacognostically. To clarify the botanical origin of 'Am Cho', the comparative morphological and anatomical characteristics have been studied of Lepisorus species growing wild in Korea, i.e. L. annuifrons, L. onoei, L. thunbergianus, L. ussuriensis and 'Am Cho' form Korea. As a result, it was clarified that 'Am Cho' from Korea was derived from Lepisorus onoei.

  • The Korean crude drug 'Suk Wi' has been used as the folk remedy for diuretic and gonorrhea. The botanical origin of the crude drug has never been studied pharmacognostically. To clarify the botanical origin of Suk Wi, studied on the morphological and anatomical characteristics of Pyrrosia species growing wild in Korea i.e., P. linearifolia, P. lingua, P. petiolosa, P. tricuspis and Suk Wi from Korea on Korean market. As a result, it was made clear that Suk Wi from Korea was derived from Pyrrosia lingua and P. petiolosa.

Effect of Pumpkin Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batas L.) Water Extracts on Mouse Spleen and Cytokine Cell Activation (호박고구마 물 추출물 투여가 마우스의 비장세포와 사이토카인의 분비량에 미치는 영향)

  • Pumpkin sweet potato (Ipomoea batas L.) has been known as a traditional remedy and food source, not only in South Korea but worldwide. It is rich in fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and other minerals and vitamins, making it a nutritional food loved by many. showed that pumpkin sweet potato had antioxidant biological effects. The in vitro study showed that both splenocytes and cytokine production byactivated peritoneal macrophages increased when water extracts were supplemented at 100 and 250 μL/mL. Notably, the production of IL-1β, TNF-α, and IFN-γ by splenocytes was significantly increased at 100 μL/mL. The results suggest that supplementation with pumpkin sweet potato (Ipomoea batas L.) water extract may enhance immune function by stimulating splenocyte proliferation and improving cytokine production, activating macrophages in vitro.
