Study on Automatic Generation of Platform Configuration Register in FlexRay Protocol (FlexRay 프로토콜에서 플랫폼 구성 변수의 자동 생성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, FlexRay was developed to replace controller area network (CAN) protocol in chassis networking systems, to remedy the shortage of transmission capacity and unsatisfactory real-time transmission delay of conventional CAN. FlexRay network systems require correct synchronization and complex scheduling parameters. However, because platform configuration register (PCR) setting and message scheduling is complex and bothersome task, FlexRay is more difficult to implement in applications than CAN protocol. To assist a network designer for implementing FlexRay cluster, this paper presents an analysis of FlexRay platform configuration register and automatic generation program of PCR. To demonstrate the feasibility of the automatic generation program, we evaluated its performance using experimental testbed.

  • Electromagnetic levitation system(EMLS) is one of the well known nonlinear systems due to its high degree of nonlinearities. Moreover, when there are uncertain parameters in EMLS, it is not easy to have an accurate control of EMLS. In this paper, we first apply a standard input-output feedback linearzing controller to EMLS and investigate the possible control error caused by uncertain coil resistor. Then, as a remedy, we design and apply a robust controller using Lyapunov redesign technique to deal with this uncertain coil resistor in the system. The validity of our robust controller is verified via system analysis and experimental results.

  • Urine is a gift of God for the health of human being in proverbs of the Old Testament in Hindu. Urine therapy (UT) is not a mysterious folk remedy, it is doctor's examined prescription based on modern science and UT is recommended strongly with absolute confidence. It is effective and amazing to a number of incurables such as chronic fatigue, lingering, a cold, nose allergy, diabetes, high blood pressure, and gout. Also, UT is applied not only for human beings but also for animals, the latter including amazing effects for pigs and cows. The purpose of this manuscript is to help change the misunderstandings of urine and UT and to help reader realize it is one of the helpful alternative remedies.

  • Radiation has been an effective tool for treating cancer for a long time. Radiation therapy induces DNA damage within cancer cells and destroys their ability to reproduce. Radiation therapy is often combined with other treatments, like surgery and chemotherapy. Here, we describe the effects of radiation and histone deacetylase inhibitor, Trichostain A, on cell cycle regulation in hepatoma cells. The combinatorial treatment of radiation and Trichostain A induced cell cycle arrest and thereby increasing the hepatoma cell death. Furthermore, the regulatory effects of radiation and Trichostatin A on cell cycle applied in cell type specifically. These results suggest that the treatment of radiation and Trichostatin A may play a central role in hepatoma cell death and might be a good remedy to improve the efficiency of radiation therapy.

Siphonochilus aethiopicus, a traditional remedy for the treatment of allergic asthma

  • Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the lungs, characterized by increased sensitivity to bronchoconstriction associated with infiltration of immune cells and mucus hyper secretion. In South Africa, the indigenous plant Siphonochilus aethiopicus, is used by traditional health practitioners to treat colds and flu, wheezing of the chest, coughs, influenza, sinus problems and mild asthma. In this study we aimed to investigate the potential anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating properties of S. aethiopicus in vitro. The dried and powdered S. aethiopicus plant material was extracted with organic solvents. The dried extracts were screened in vitro in the transcription response, NF-${\kappa}B$ and a cytokine assay. Significant activity was observed for organic extracts of the plant in these assays. This study provides evidence that S. aethiopicus has anti-inflammatory and immune-suppressing properties in vitro. These findings may support anecdotal accounts of its effectiveness against allergic asthma.

  • The results of researching Jang's use of herb remedies through his book "Uihakchungjungchamseorok(醫學衷中參西錄)" are as follows. 1. Jang Seoksun's medicine is based on "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", "Sanghanron(傷寒論)", "Sinnongbonchogyeong(神農本草經)". And through constant study he brought to perfection his own unique medical theory. 2. He introduced Western medicine, and united it with traditional Chinese medicine. He perfected the Chinese-Western medical theory, by Chungjungchamseo(衷中參西) which means 'roots in traditional Chinese medicine, reference in Western medicine'. 3. He thought Onbyeong(溫病) was not an independent category of disease, but included it into the category of Sanghan(傷寒). So he used modified prescription of "Sanghanron(傷寒論)" to treat Onbyeong(溫病). 4. He expanded the category of remedy uses by using various compounds, such as minerals and animal compounds. He has also developed substitute remedies.

  • We propose a method for driving loudspeakers from class D audio power amplifiers in current mode, instead of in conventional voltage mode, which was impossible with the feedback circuitry. Unlike analog audio amplifiers, Class D audio power amplifiers have signal delay between the input and output signals, which makes it difficult to apply the feedback circuitry for current-mode driving. The idea of the pre-distortion scheme used for the compensation of the non-linearity of RF power amplifiers is adapted to remedy the impedance variation effect of the loudspeakers for current driving. The method uses the speaker model for the pre-distorter to compensate for the speaker impedance variation with frequency. The simulation and test results confirms the validity of the proposed method.

Effect of Artemisia Capillaris Extract on the Growth of Food-Borne Pathogens (인진쑥 추출물이 식중독 유발 세균의 성장에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, Artemisia capillaries, which has been used as a folk remedy, was investigated for its antimicrobial activity. First, the Aremisia capillaris was extracted with methanol at room temperature, and fractionation of the methanol extracts from Artemisia capillaris was carried out using petroleum ether, chloroform, and ethyl acetate. Second, the antimicrobial activity of the Artemisia capillaris extracts was determined using a paper disc method and minimum inhibitory concentration of ethyl acetate extracts from Artemisia capillaris against food-borne pathogens and food spoilage bacteria was measured. Finally, the growth inhibition curve was determined using ethyl acetate extracts of Artemisia capillaris against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhimurium. The ethyl acetate extract of Artemisia capillaris showed strong antimicrobial activity against S. typhimurium at a concentration of 1,000 ppm. The 3,000 ppm of ethyl acetate extract from Artemisia capillaris retarded the growth of S. aureus and S. typhimurium for up to 6 hours.
