  • There is recent recognition that the approach toward family members is crucial for understanding problems in multi-cultural families by emerging from typical approach focused on migrant women. While researches have reported serious conflicts and adaptation problems from cultural difference between parent-in-law and foreign daughter-in-law, cultural stress of parent-in-law has not been systematically examined. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a scale to measure acculturation stress of parent-in-law who have a foreign daughter-in-law. The sample consisted of 266 parents-in-law from three provinces of South Korea. Initially, 16 items were generated based on the existing scale of acculturation stress and they are tested by item-analysis through the descriptive and correlational analysis. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted to investigate the factor structure of the scale and a confirmatory factor analysis was used to validate the scale. By item-analysis, five items were deleted from initial scale items because of redundancy. Findings from an exploratory factor analysis provided the evidence that the scale consists of three factors which are the perception of prejudice and discrimination, conflicts from different cultural value, and daily discomfort. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for the scale is 0.86. Multiple fit indices from confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the hypothesized three-factor model for acculturation stress achieved a good fit with the data. Results showed the evidence for the reliability and validity of the scale for acculturation stress of the parent-in-law who have foreign daughter-in-law. The scale would have potential effects for assessing psychological stress for parent-in-law in research and clinical practice. Further implications and limitation of the study and suggestions for future studies were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the behavioral subsystems of the obese adult and contribute to the utility of Johnson's Behavioral System Model. The subjects were 167 obese adults in out-patients clinics of 2 hospitals and health clinics for 4 companies. These data were collected by a structured questionnaire with 52 items from July 1 to Sep. 30, 1995. The instrument used for this study was modified from the DBSM -self reporting instrument (1983) and Grubbs(1980)'s. The reliability of this method was cronbach's ${\alpha}$=.8476 and the construct validity of it was accepted by using a factor analysis. These data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, pearson's correlation coefficient, Kruskal-Wallis with an SPSS PC+ Program. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The 9 behavioral subsystems of the obese were indentified : sex-related, attachment-affiliative I(social), dependency, ingestive, eliminative, restorative, aggressive-protective, attachment-affiliative and II (familial), an achievement behavioral subsystem. 2. Out of 9 subsystems, the highest significant positive correlation between dependency and acheivement subsystem was found(r=.5357, p<.01), The next, attachment-affiliative I and attachment-affiliative II subsystem was correlated significantly (r=.4526, p<.01). Significant positive correlations among sex-related, achivement, attachment-affiliative I, II, dependency, restorative, and aggressive-protective subsystems were found. But, ingestive and eliminative subsystems were not correlated with the above seven subsystems significantly, only the positive correlation between the ingestive and eliminative subsystems was found. 3. The explained variance of the 9 subsystems was explained as 56.1% out of a total of one. The sex-related subsystem was the first factor explaining 16.3% of the total variance and then the next 8 factors which resulted in 39.8%. According to the results of this study, the suggestions were as follows: 1. In the nursing practice, nursing assessmentand intervention of the obese should be in cluded not only in ingestive and eliminative subsystems but also in sex-related, attachment-affiliative I, dependency, restorative, aggressive-protective, attachment -affiliative II, and achievement behavioral subsystem. 2. Concerning instruments, some items to measure the eliminative, dependency, and aggressive-protective behavioral subsystems with relatively reliability are needed. 3. Johnson's concept of a dependency subsystem should be clarified. 4. Correlation among the 7 subsystems, and the ingestive and eliminative subsystems should be clarified.

  • This study presented the need to research into 'emotional response' and 'willingness to use apps', perceived by consumers using food delivery apps amidst the spread of smartphones and surge in use of food delivery apps. This study was also intended to present 'service quality' of food delivery apps, along with 'arousal' and 'pleasure' which represented the 2 types of emotional dimension of Pleasure-Arousal-Dominance(PAD), as variables that could strengthen the willingness to use food delivery apps and examine their roles. On the basis of results of such analysis, we intended to provide basic data necessary for development and operation of food delivery app contents. For subjects and spatial scope of this study, we selected domestic male and female residents nationwide who were aged 20 or older and had experience of using food delivery apps over the last 3 months. Among the subjects of this study, we surveyed foodservice consumers who had experienced of ordering food via food delivery apps such as Baedal Minjok, Yogiyo, and Baedaltong. Based on results of this study, it was found that design and sympathy related to food delivery app service quality had a positive effect on arousal while design and reliability had a positive effect on pleasure. Both informativity and mobility of food delivery app service quality were found to have a positive effect on the willingness to use apps. The pleasure from PAD had a positive effect on willingness to use apps, while arousal did not have any effect on willingness to use apps. The results of this study suggested that design and reliability, informativity, mobility were very important factors in inducing foodservice consumers to use food delivery apps continuously.

  • This study was conducted by empirically analyzing the relation between effects of positive emotional response of female customers, who have at some point consumed food at Korean restaurants in Busan, and behavioral intention according to their food service consumption propensity. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the questionnaire survey was performed from March $10^{th}$ to $25^{th}$, and frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and SEM (structure equation model) were conducted by using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS for 248 questionnaires. As a result of an exploratory factor analysis, five factors were confirmed. In a confirmatory factor analysis, the average variance extracted (AVE) and composite reliability (CR) were confirmed as .508 to .665 and .905 to .946 respectively, which proved the convergent validity. In a hypothesis test, Hypothesis 1 was determined that the food service consumption propensity positively effects on emotional response. The results were as follows: the taste driven (${\beta}$=.325, t=3.907, p<.001), the health driven (${\beta}$=.190, t=2.688, p<.001), and the atmosphere driven (${\beta}$=.188, t=2.515, p<.001). Therefore, Hypothesis 1 was selected. Hypothesis 1 has determined that positive emotional response beneficially affects behavioral intention. As a result of an analysis, the standardized path coefficient was (${\beta}$=.496, t=6.388, p<.001), so Hypothesis 1 was selected. This result suggests that the taste driven factor has the biggest influence on emotional response in the food service consumption propensity for female customers, and food service business operators should strive to make a good restaurant atmosphere for customers to get positive emotional response (pleasure, comfort, satisfaction, and joy).

  • Mobile applications (apps) play a significant role in the proliferation of smartphones. According to statistics from Apple, 100 million apps were downloaded in 2008. Since then, the number of cumulative app downloads have increased exponentially. By October 2014, 85 billion apps had been downloaded worldwide. Many studies have attempted to determine the factors that drive app downloads. However, unlike previous studies, we examine the effects of app updates on app rankings. To achieve this goal, we collected data on rankings (gross rankings and category rankings), update contents, reviewer ratings, and number of reviews on apps listed in the App Store. We then categorized app updates into functionality, reliability, and convenience updates following the buying hierarchy model. We found that functionality updates had a positive effect on app gross ranking whereas reliability updates had a positive effect on category ranking. Our study is the first to explore the effects of update content on app ranking. Moreover, our study provides a practical implication for mobile app developers, who should consider app updates in their product development strategy.

  • This study set out to identify the importance of each factor influencing facility selection with a survey among public medical facilities under the category of public buildings and apply the importance of economy, technology and environment with the weighting factor method, thus proposing optimal application plans. The research content of each section can be summarized as follows:1) Estimated energy consumption according to the energy simulation was 65,129MWh/yr, which was 18.7% higher than that according to the calculation equation. Of the energy consumption, more than 80% was used by heating and cooling facilities and construction facilities, and 20% was used by electronics such as medical equipments and in and outdoor lighting. 2) The results of a survey on the factors influencing the importance when selecting a new and renewable energy system reveal that the upper items had a priority in economy, environment, and technology in the descending order and that the lower item shad a priority in initial investments, maintenance and repair costs=energy costs, supply reliability, energy efficiency and $CO_2$ emissions in the descending order. 3) The application alternatives were analyzed in economy, technology, and environment. As a result, a geothermal system turned out to be the most excellent one a cross all the upper and lower comparison items. Of the other systems, a solar thermal system was superior in initial investments, maintenance and repair costs, and energy efficiency, where as a photovoltaic system was superior in energy costs, supply reliability, and $CO_2$ emissions. 4) As for the mixed application ratio among economy, technology, and environment, when the percentage of a geothermal system was approximately 80% or higher in anew and renewable energy system, it was the best and most optimal application plan.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose safety factors of pile bearing capacity based on the reliability analysis. Each prediction method involves various degrees of uncertainties. To account for these uncertainties in a systematic way, the ratios of the measured bearing capacity from pile load tests to the predicted bearing capacity are represented in the form of a probability density function. The safety factor for each design method is obtained so that the probability of pile foundation failure is less than 10-3. The Bayesian theorem is applied in a way that the distribution using static formulae is assumed to be the A-prior and the distribution using dynamic formulae or wave equation based methods is assumed to be the likelihood, and these two are combined to obtain the posterior which has the reduced uncertainty. The results of this study show that static formulae of the pile bearing capacity using the 5.p.7. N-value as well as dynamic formulae are highly unreliable and have to have the safety factor more than 7.4 : the wave equation analysis using PDA(Pile Driving Analyzer) system the most reliable with the safety factor close to 2.7. The safety factor could be reduced certain amount by adoption the Bayes methodology in pile design.
