  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid decode-amplify-forward incremental cooperative diversity protocol using SNR-based relay selection. In the proposed protocol, whenever destination unsuccessfully receives the source's signal, one of relays that exploit hybrid decode-amplify-forward technique is chosen to retransmit the signal. We derive approximate closed-form expressions of outage probability and average channel capacity. Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the theoretical results and compare the performance of the proposed protocol with the direct transmission protocol and conventional incremental relaying protocols.

  • In this paper, we analyze the secrecy performance of single-input multiple-output (SIMO) relay systems over κ-μ shadowed fading channels. Based on considering relay model employing decode-and-forward (DF) protocol, two security evaluation metrics, namely, secure outage probability (SOP) and probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) are studied, for which closed-form analytical expressions are derived. In addition, Monte Carlo results prove the validity of the theoretical derivation. The simulation results confirm that the factors that enhance the security include large ratio of (μD, μE), (mD, mE), (LD, LE) and small ratio of (kD, kE) under the high signal-to-noise ratio regime.

  • In this paper, the downlink resource allocation of OFDMA system with decode-and-forward (DF) relaying is investigated. A non-convex optimization problem maximizing system throughput with users' satisfaction constraints is formulated with joint relay selection, subcarrier assignment and power allocation. We first transform it to a standard convex problem and then solve it by dual decomposition. In particular, an Optimal resource allocation scheme With Time-sharing (OWT) is proposed with combination of relay selection, subcarrier allocation and power control. Due to its poor adaption to the fast-varying environment, an improved version with subcarrier Monopolization (OWM) is put forward, whose performance promotes about 20% compared with that of OWT in the fast-varying vehicular environment. In fact, OWM is the special case of OWT with binary time-sharing factor and OWT can be seen as the tight upper bound of the OWM. To the best of our knowledge, such algorithms and their relation have not been accurately investigated in cooperative OFDMA networks in the literature. Simulation results show that both the system throughput and the users' satisfaction of the proposed algorithms outperform the traditional ones.

  • In this paper a new space-time diversity relaying strategy using cooperative communication technique is proposed. More than one relaying terminals are included in one cooperative group to share their state information, such as frame error rate and channel state information. The best terminals are selected to send bit information using space-time diversity relay system. An implementation for the proposed scheme is also presented using the TDMA cooperative protocol. The resulting receive signal to transmit signal ratio and computer simulation demonstrate that the proposed strategy outperforms the conventional cooperative system.

  • In this paper, we propose an incremental cooperative transmission protocol in two-way underlay cognitive radio networks. In the proposed protocol, two secondary sources attempt to transmit their packet to each other with help of a secondary relay under interference constraint. For performance evaluation, we derive exact closed-form expressions of average outage probability over Rayleigh fading channel. Then, we perform Monte Carlo simulations to verify the derivations. Results present that the simulation and theoretical results are in good agreement and the outage performance of the proposed protocol is better than that of two-way direct transmission protocol.

  • In this paper, we propose a cooperative relaying protocol using Fountain codes for secondary network under interference constraint. In the proposed protocol, a secondary source uses Fountain codes to transmit its message to a secondary destination with help of a secondary relay. The secondary source and relay operate in the underlay model, in which they must adapt their transmit power so that the interference caused at a primary user is lower than an allowable threshold. To evaluate performance of the proposed protocol, we derive the expressions of average number of transmission times over Rayleigh fading channel. Various Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the derivations.

  • In this paper, we study the secrecy outage probability when using cooperative diversity and jammer in a relay system based on decode-and-forward. MRC method is used in receiver and eavesdroppers to obtain cooperative diversity. To use the MRC technique, direct links between the sender and receiver, and between the sender and the eavesdropper are used, respectively. Jammers are used to generate intentional noise siganls to increase security capacity. Jammers generate intentional noise, degrading the channel quality of the eavesdropper and helping physical layer security be realized. The secrecy outage probability is used to evaluate security performance. Assume that the system is under the Rayleigh fading channel.

  • In a warehouse, because there exist frequent changes of stock status and the quality of some contents are influenced by the environment such as temperature, fast and accurate management of the warehouse's environment is very important for Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). However, due to the absence of a unified standard for the communication protocol between RFID nodes, the connection between RFID nodes can be broken in case of movement of a RFID reader to a region with a different protocol. Moreover, centralized MAC schemes for RFID communications in previous studies have severe problems. For an example, if a cluster header disappears from the cluster due to the cluster header's movement or bad channel conditions, the RFID member nodes of the cluster waste lots of time and energy to re-elect a new cluster header. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a WiMedia Distributed MAC (D-MAC) scheme for RFID communications and its cooperative relay transmission scheme for WMS applications Simulation results show performance improvement at the RFID node by using the proposed cooperative relay transmission scheme.

  • In this paper, an energy harvesting scheme is investigated in the multi-relay cooperation communication. Our proposal is to maximize the diversity gain and overcome the disadvantages of the limited power wireless devices. The best relay is selected based on the maximizing channel gains from source to relays so that the harvested energy at selected relay is best. If an internal power of the best relay is lower than a defined target power, the best relay will harvest the energy from the source, and the help of the source-destination link is changed to the second best relay. By this operation method, the diversity gain is maintained and the performance of the network is improved. Finally, performance of the proposed protocol is analyzed in terms of bit error rate, utilization efficiency, power collection efficiency.
