The purpose of this study was to compare the thermophysiological responses and subjective sensations of clothing materials with different water transfer property investigated in exercising and resting subjects at an ambient temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ and a relative humidity of 40%. Two kinds of clothing ensemble were tested: 100% cotton with highly water-absorbent but slowly dry properties(C) and 100% polyester with quickly water-absorbent and dry properties by four capillary channels(QADP). Seven apparently healthy male participants each undertook two series of experiments comprised 10-min of rest, 20-min of exercise with 70% of $VO_{2max}$ on a treadmill and 20-min of recovery. Mean skin temperature was significantly lower in QADP than in C during exercise and recovery. Clothing microclimate temperature was significantly lower in QADP during exercise and clothing surface temperature was also lower in QADP especially during recovery. Also, clothing surface humidity was significantly higher in QADP after the later half of exercise. The concentration of blood lactic acid tended to decrease to a lower level at recovery 3 minutes when wearing QADP rather than C clothing ensemble. Metabolic energy was marginally significantly less during the second half of exercise in QADP. Body mass loss tended to be greater in C than in QADP. The participants had better scores in thermal sensation, comfortable sensation and wetness in QADP during exercise and recovery. These results show that functional materials with quickly water-absorbent and dry properties can alleviate heat strain and induce more comfortable clothing microclimates and subjective sensations in the exercise-induced hyperthermia.

Objectives: Scientific verification for health effects has been constantly demanded through the forest healing factors. In this study, phytoncide concentration which is one of the forest healing factors, was investigated according to stand density, season and visiting time, and analyzed correlation with micrometeorology factors. Methods: Total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) and Natural volatile organic compounds (NVOCs) were collected using a measuring instrument which is connected to an air pump with the Tenax TA tube. The 32NVOCs were selected through the detailed criteria of adequacy assessment for recreational forest. The statistical analysis (correlation and stepwise regression analysis) was conducted between phytoncide concentration and micrometeorology factors. Results: NVOCs concentration linearly increased according to stand density. The high level showed in the summer (p<0.05), and there is no significant difference according to visiting hours of the Healing forest. NVOCs is a negative correlation with solar radiation, PAR and wind direction, and a positive correlation with relative humidity and temperature (p<0.01). NVOCs increased following the increase of humidity and temperature ($R^2=0.55$). Conclusions: Phytoncide linearly increased according to stand density, and showed the correlation significantly with microclimate factors. In future, these results will be utilized as a basic material to promote the generation of phytoncide, which positively influences human health promotion and manage the forest welfare space.
In order to verify the usability of the greenhouse for aquaculture with nutrient culture synchronously and to obtain the fundamental data fir the establishment of efficient farming technology, the characteristics of microclimate and the growth of leafy vegetables were examined. Tilapia averaged 428.6 g grew to 784 g(1.83 times) for 147 days from May 29 to Oct. 21 and fingerlings averaged 12.9 g grew by 1.37 times for 61 days from Sep. 13 to Nov. 12. The growth of vegetables such as water dropwort, leaf lettuce, Chinese cabbage, and Welsh onion in the greenhouse was better for aquaculture with nutrient culture than for nutrient culture only. Between above two greenhouses, pH and EC of nutrient solution was same but the temperature different by about 2$^{\circ}C$. Average day temperature, relative humidity, and $CO_2$ concentration were higher by 2.9$^{\circ}C$, 6%, and 200 ppm in the greenhouse for aquaculture with nutrient culture, respectively. Net assimilation rate of vegetables in the greenhouse was a little higher for aquaculture with nutrient culture than for nutrient culture only. Therefore, provided aquaculture and nutrient culture are carried out in the same greenhouse, the saving effect of heating cost as well as the additional promotive effects of vegetable and tilapia growth can be obtained.

The purpose of this study was to determine the practicability of an experimental protective clothing by identifying the human body's physiological responses to it as well as the human body's comfort level when wearing it, particularly with the use of a processed charcoal material. The experimental protective clothing came in two types: one whose outer side made use of polypropylene film, and the inner side, a non-woven rayon fabric; and one whose inner side made use of a non-woven fabric processed with charcoal with a 10% density. Experiments were conducted on five healthy adult women whose average age was 21. These experiments were conducted at a climatic chamber, in which the temperature and relative humidity were set below $28{\pm}1^{\circ}C\;and\;50{\pm}10%$, respectively, and were measured within a period of 60min, consisting of a 20-min rest period, a 20-min exercise period, and a 20-min recovery period. Based on the results of this study, the efficiency of the processed charcoal material was reviewed, and a database requiring the production of more functional and comfortable protective clothing materials was established.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the thermal and subjective comfort of various pesticide-proof clothes made from different material. Seven male adults took part in the study, conducted in a climate-chamber controlled with an ambient temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ and a relative humidity of 60%RH. The thermal and subjective responses of subjects wearing pesticide-proof clothing made of Goretex(coating treatment), polyester (water-repellent treatment), non-woven(coating) and nylon(coating) were measured. The main results were summarized as follows: (1) Change of rectal temperature and clothing microclimate were inhibited more effectively in pesticide-proof clothing made of Goretex, polyester and non-woven than nylon materials. (2) Mean skin temperature at the end of the experiment was significantly higher in subjects who wore nylon than non-woven and Goretex, and was lowest in those with pesticide-proof clothing made of polyester. (3) Change of heart rate was significantly lower in subjects with Goretex and polyester clothiing than those with non-woven, and in those with nylon, it was highest. (4) Subjective comfort was greater in subjects with Goretex, polyester and nonwoven clothing than nylon, except for thermal sensation. Thermal sensation was greater in order of polyester, Goretex, non-woven and nylon. Thus, it was concluded that pesticide-proof clothing made of Goretex, polyester and non-woven material could reduce thermal stress during the spraying of pesticides in summer.
This study examined the changes in plant phenology of 12 woody species in Daegu University Forest, Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsanbuk-do in 2007 and 2018. The Hobo was installed at a height of 1.2 meters to measure the microclimate such as air temperature and relative humidity to identify its effects on the changes in plant phenology. The number of trees surveyed were 42 individuals that included 12 species in 9 families, all of which are deciduous broad-leaved trees. The trends in temperature change in 2018 were similar to that in 2007, except for the temperatures in the warmest and coldest month. Compared to 2007, the average temperature of the warmest month in 2018 was $2.5^{\circ}C$ higher, and the coldest month was $3.3^{\circ}C$ lower. The lowest temperature from February to April in 2018 had the highest correlation with the blooming dates of the trees (r = 0.692) in 2018, and the highest temperature showed the lowest correlation (r = 0.392). The blooming date by species was significantly different (p < 0.05). The blooming date of 8 species (75%), including Prunus padus, was earlier by 1 to 16 days, while 4 species, such as Prunus armeniaca var. ansu, was later by 1 to 7 days in 2018 than that in 2007. However, the flowering duration did not have a significant effect on the plant phenology. The results can be used as basic data for long-term monitoring of plant phenology in the future, and follow-up studies on other environmental factors and physiological factors are needed.

Human thermal sensation based on a human energy balance model was analyzed in the study areas, the Changwon and Nanaimo sites, on clear days during thesummer of 2009. The climatic input data were air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and solar and terrestrial radiation. The most effective factors for human thermal sensation were direct beam solar radiation, building view factor and wind speed. Shaded locations had much lower thermal sensation, slightly warm, than sunny locations, very hot. Also, narrow streets in the Nanaimo site had higher thermal sensation than open spaces because of greater reflected solar radiation and terrestrial radiation from their surrounding buildings. Calm wind speed also produced much higher thermal sensation, which reduced sensible and latent heat loss from the human body. By adopting climatic factors into landscape architecture, the human thermal sensation analysis method promises to help create thermally comfortable outdoor areas. The method can also be used for urban heat island modification and climate change studies.

This experiment was designed to gain information on factors affecting stubble death of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) during the first rainy season. According to the experimental plan, the effects of sowing methods, drainages and cutting dates on the stubble carbohydrate content of orchardgrass, available soil moisture content of experimental plots, temperatures at the ground level and in the soil, and relative light intensity and humidity at the base of orchardgrass canopy were measured during the rainy season. The carbohydrate content of orchardgrass was sharply decreased to 2.9 % at 3rd day after cutting in the plots cut before rainy season and a gradural recovery was noted following the sharp reduction, but in the plots cut after rainy season, orchardgrass showed 5.5% of carbohydrate content before cutting and 3.0% at the 3rd day after cutting. The same pattern in both carbohydrate reduction and recovery was found between two cutting treatments. The available soil moisture content in the plots cut before rainy season was slightly higher than that in the plots cut after rainy season. But after the rainy season, the available soil moisture content in the plots cut after rainy season was higher than that in the plots cut before rainy season. Soil temperature at lOcm depths in the plots cut before rainy season was higher than that in the plots cut after rainy season. Daily maximum air temperature at the ground level in the plots cut before rainy season was higher than that in the plots cut after rainy season and changeable. Relative humidity at the ground level was below 70% in the plots cut before rainy season, but 75 to 90 % was observed in the plots cut after rainy season. Relative light intensity at the ground level in the plots cut before rainy season was much higher, recorded 50 to 90 %, than that in the plots cut after rainy season showing less than 10%. The results of this study suggest that the stubble death of orchardgrass during the rainy season is due to plant diseases influenced by a decrease of light penetration and increase of relative humidity at the base of the grass canopy.

The heterogeneity of crop transpiration is important to clearly understand the microclimate mechanisms and to efficiently handle the water resource in greenhouses. A computational fluid dynamic program (Fluent CFD version 6.2) was developed to study the internal climate and crop transpiration distributions of greenhouses. Additionally, the global solar radiation model and a crop heat exchange model were programmed together. Those models programmed using $C^{++}$ software were connected to the CFD main module using the user define function (UDF) technology. For the developed CFD validity, a field experiment was conducted at a $17{\times}6 m^2$ plastic-covered mechanically ventilated single-span greenhouse located at Pusan in Korea. The CFD internal distributions of air temperature, relative humidity, and air velocity at 1m height were validated against the experimental results. The CFD computed results were in close agreement with the measured distributions of the air temperature, relative humidity, and air velocity along the greenhouse. The averaged errors of their CFD computed results were 2.2%,2.1%, and 7.7%, respectively.

The Bagan, the central part of Myanmar, is dry zone where the mean annual precipitation is less than 600 mm for the last ten years. Forest in this region has been degraded due to biotic and abiotic disturbances. While there have been various efforts to rehabilitate the degraded area, the information on growth and physiological characteristics of planting species and the impacts of planting trees in the region still lacks. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the growth and physiological water use efficiency characteristics of five species (Azadirachta indica A. Juss., Acacia catechu Willd., Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn., Acacia leucophloea (Roxb.) Willd. and Albizia lebbek (L.) Willd.) which are utilized as rehabilitation species in the dry zone and to identify the impacts of tree planting on microclimate change in dry zone. The growth and the foliar carbon isotope composition of seedlings and the above mentioned five species planted in 2005 were measured. And from February 2015 to January 2016, microclimatic factors air temperature and relative humidity at 60 cm and 2 m above soil, soil temperature, soil water contents and precipitation were measured at every 30-minute interval from the two weather stations installed in the plantation located in Ngalinpoke Mt. Range. One was established in the center of A. indica plantation, and the other was in the barren land fully exposed to the sunlight. Among the five species, A. indica and A. lebbek which showed higher water use efficiency could be recommended as rehabilitation species in dry zone. Planting trees in the dry area was shown to affect the change of microclimate with shading effects, declining temperature of the land surface and aridity of the air, and to contribute to conserving more water in soil by preventing direct evaporation and containing more water with fine roots of trees.
