The physical properties of textile materials and thermal physiological responses of the human subjects were evaluated with 4 different types of the army combat uniforms including US, German, Korean and general uniforms for this study. 8 male adults were used as the human subjects and the tests were done in the environmental chamber that was $25{\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$ of temperature, $65{\pm}5%$ of relative humidity and below 0.3 m/sec of air velocity. The test protocol consisted the rest period for 20 min., the exercise period for 20 min., the rest period for 20 min., the exercise period under wind condition for 20 min., and the recovery period for 20 min. The human subjects walked with 4.5 km/hr for 10 min., ran 7.5 km/hr for 10 min. during the first exercise period and walked and ran with the same speeds under 3.5 m/sec of the air velocity that simulated outdoor condition during the second exercise period. The test results of the study were as follows; The wind condition affected the skin and microclimate temperature of the human subjects lower compared to without wind condition, but had insignificant effect on the humidity control. The low air permeability of Korean uniform caused blocking the elimination of the humidity from the body and the regulation of body temperature. However, Korean uniforms could be the excellent one with the designs considering the ventilation of the uniforms and the textile fabrics with better air permeability.

Background: The poultry industry suffers losses from problems as pale, soft and exudative (PSE), and dark, firm and dry (DFD) meat can develop in meat as a result of short- and long-term stress, respectively. These abnormalities are impacted by pre-slaughter animal welfare. Methods: This work evaluated the effects of open vehicle container microclimate, throughout the $38{\pm}10km$ journey from the farm to the slaughterhouse, on commercially turkey transported during the Brazilian winter season. The journey was initiated immediately after water bath in truck fitted with portable Kestrel anemometers to measure air ventilation, relative humidity, temperature and ventilation. Results: The inferior compartments of the middle and rear truck regions showed highest temperature and relative humidity, and lower air ventilation. In addition, the superior compartments of the front truck regions presented lower temperature and wind chill, and highest air ventilation. The breast meat samples from animals located at the inferior compartments of the middle and rear truck regions and subjected to with water bath (WiB) treatment presented highest DFD-like and had lowest PSE-like meat incidence than those from animals located at other compartments within the container. Lower incidence of PSE-like meat was observed in birds without water bath (WoB). Conclusions: Assessment on turkeys transported under Brazilian southern winter conditions revealed that breast meat quality can be affected by relative humidity, air ventilation, temperature, and transport under subtropical conditions promoting color abnormalities and the formation of simultaneously PSE-like and DFD-like meat.
The Gyeongju Seokbinggo (Treasure No. 66) is an ice-storing stone warehouse, consisting mainly of alkaligranite which shows milky white color and medium-grained textures with drusy cavities. As results of deterioration assessment, the deterioration rates were determined as crack (12.5%), disjoining (6.7%), breaking-out (25.1%), exfoliation (20.9%), efflorescence (6.5%), brown discoloration (9.8%), darkgray discoloration (2.0%) and biological discoloration (36.5%). Comprehensive physical deterioration rate and discoloration rate were calculated as 43.7% and 68.7%, respectively, that indicates the Seokbinggo has been severely weathered. Indoor relative humidity was above 90% except in winter season. Indoor microclimate was hardly fluctuating although indoor microclimate was dependent on the outdoor climate. The main cause of deterioration was high relative humidity and a long time of wetness due to penetration of rain, underground water and condensation. It was identified that the water brought out biological discoloration, dissolution of minerals, structural movement and efflorescence, and the dust from the ground soil in front of the entrance accelerated brown and dark gray discoloration on the stone surface.

Indoor thermal conditions greatly affect the health and comfort of humans who occupy the space in it. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of water and vegetation elements as a microclimate modifier in buildings to obtain thermal comfort through the study of thermal environment models. This research covers two objects, namely public buildings and housing in Makassar City, South Sulawesi Prov-ince - Indonesia. Quantitative methods through field surveys and measurements based on thermal and personal variables. Data analysis based on ASHRAE 55 2020 standard. The data was processed with a parametric statistical approach and then simulated with the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation method to find a thermal prediction model. The model was made by increasing the ventilation area by 2.0 m2, adding 10% vegetation with shade plant characteristics, moving water features in the form of fountains and increasing the pool area by 15% to obtain PMV + 0.23, PPD + 8%, TSV-1 - +0, Ta_25.7℃, and relative humidity 63.5 - 66%. The evaluation shows that the operating temperature can analyze the visitor's comfort temperature range of >80% and comply with the ASHRAE 55-2020 standard. It is concluded that water elements and indoor vegetation can be microclimate modifiers in buildings to create desired comfort conditions and adaptive con-trols in buildings such as the arrangement of water elements and vegetation and ventilation systems to provide passive cooling effects in buildings.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of difference in urban tree plantings on microclimate amelioration, and to suggest essential information for quantifying urban energy budgets and energy savings. This study was focused on measuring and analyzing air temperature and relative humidity in summer. Daytime air temperatures at places with 8%, 24%, 44%, 79%, and 100% cover of woody plants were, respectively, $0.6^{\circ}C,\;1.3^{\circ}C,\;2.4^{\circ}C,\;3.5^{\circ}C,\;and\;4.8^{\circ}C$ cooler, compared to a place with 0% cover. A 10% increase of woody plant cover was estimated to reduce the temperature by approximately $0.55^{\circ}C$. The temperature reduction effects were relatively greater between places with lower cover of woody plants than between those with higher cover. Woody plant cover and crown volume were the appropriate indicators which quantified the effects of tree plantings on air temperatures, based on the correlation analysis. Regression equations to estimate temperature change ($Y:^{\circ}C$) using woody plant cover ($X_1:%$) or crown volume ($X_2:m^3$) as independent variables are as follows: $$1nY=3.3233-0.0018X_1\;(r^2=0.99,\;p<0.0001)\;Y=27.5297-0.0019X_2\;(r^2=0.96,\;p=0.0007)$$

This study was performed for purpose of getting fundamental information requisite to wear velvet clothes that is more comfortable for the human body and also the environment. It was carried out in a human wearing test and thermal manikin test at the same time in a controlled-condition chamber. The experimental environment had a ambient temperature of 15$\pm$0.5$^{\circ}C$ with the relative humidity at 5$^{\circ}C$$\pm$5% and with air velocity at less that than 0.2m/sec. Velvet differ from common plain weaves in thermal properties because it's constructed in two parts one is ground part and the other part is pile part. In order to investigate the thermal resistance of velvet eight different combination of 4 velvet kinds and 2 lings kinds as experimental clothes. [(4 velvet kinds : Acetate cuprammoium Rayon Cotton Wool) (2 lining kinds : acetate viscose rayon)longrightarrow8 combination: Aa, Av, Ra, Rv, Ca, Cv, Wa, Wv: the simplified character] The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. For the regional thermal resistance the differences in eight clothes as well as differences in each part were significant. As a whole the breast part showed the highest thermal resistance and the leg part was higher than the shank part. The rank of the total thermal resistance was put at Wa>Wv>Ca>Cv>Aa>Av>Ra>Rv in this order. 2. Considered clothing microclimate microclimate temperature has a similar tendency to the total thermal resistance. It showed a significance in the differences of eight clothes and each parts. the belly part was highest in every combination. On the other hand for clothing humidity there was a significance between back and breast part only in the human wearing test. 3. It was indicated that CLO value was highly positively correlated with the clothings' weight and showed a high negative correlation with the air permeability.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanical thermal resistances and comfort properties of ski wear made with vapor-permeable water repellent (VPWR) fabrics and thermal insulation battings. Four types of experimental clothing were made with the combination of two VPWR fabrics (Hipora-$TM^{\circledR}$, Hipora-$CR^{\circledR}$) and two thermal insulation battings ($Viwarm^{\circledR},\;Airseal^{\circledR}$). Thermal resistances of ski wear were objectly evaluated by thermal manikin experiment ($21{\pm}\;2^{\circ}C,\;50{\pm}5\%$ R.H.,0.25 m/sec air velocity) and thermographic accessment ($2{\pm}2^{\circ}C,\;0\%$ R.H.,0.25 m/sec air velocity, and emissivity level : 1). Garment wear tests of ski wear included the measurement of the microclimate (inner temp. and relative humidity) of the experimental clothing by digital thermohygrometer and subject wear sensation using McNall's thermal comfort ratings. CBo values of experimental clothing 4 (Hipora-$CR^{\circledR}+Airseal^{\circledR}$) and 1 (Hipora-$TM^{\circledR}+Viwarm^{\circledR}$) were significantly higher than those of 2 (Hipora-$TM^{\circledR}+Airseal^{\circledR}$) and 3 (Hipora-$CR^{\circledR}+Viwarm^{\circledR}$). Thermal resistances in the points of breast, back, belly, and loin was significantly higher than those of upper am, fore arm, and shank of measuring points on the thermal manikin. According to the color map of the thermogram, the experimental clothing 4 indicated higher surface temperatures than the others showing more yellowish spots on the surface of clothing. Inner temperature of experimental clothing was not significantly different among the four types of ski wear, but relative humidities of experimental clothing were significantly different. Relative humidities of experimental clothing 1 and 3 showed higher than those of 2 and 4. Relative humidity of experimantal clothing was affected largely by the thermal resis- tance of thermal insulation batting materials. The subject wear sensation of experimental clothing 2 and 4 showed lower humidity than the others. Subject wear sensation was affected more by humidity sensation than by thermal sensation.
Objective of this study was to investigate the effects of all current speed on the microclimates above and inside the plug stand under artificial light. Maximum air temperature appeared near the top of the plug stand. Difference in air temperature inside the plug stand increased with the decreasing air current speed. Difference in relative humidity(DRH) to the relative humidity at the Inlet of the main air flow conditioner Inside and above the plug stand decreased with the increasing air current speed. Relative humidity inside the plug stand was 10-15% higher than that above the plug stand. DRH inside a stand of plug at air current speed of 0.3m s$^{-1}$ was about two times as many as that at air current speed of 0.9 m s$^{-1}$ . DRH inside the plug stand was 2.8-6.5% higher at LAI of 2.6 than that at LAI of 0.5. Gradient for the vapour pressure deficit was distinctly appeared at the low air current speed. Direction of vapour pressure flux is from the medium surface upwards. Difference in vapour pressure(DVPD) to the vapour pressure deficit at the inlet of the main air flow conditioner inside and above the plug stand decreased with the increasing height above the medium surface. DVPD inside the plug stand was 0.3-0.4㎪ higher at air current speed of 0.9m s$^{-1}$ than that at air current speed of 0.3m s$^{-1}$ . Results for the effects of air current speed on the relative humidity and vapour pressure deficit indicated that the microclimates above and inside the plug stand at the rear region in plug trays were slightly unfavorable compared to those at middle region.

Moisture transfer property of fabrics has known as one of the most important factors deciding wearer's subjective comfort not only thermally but also of sensorial. As a decisive property of fabric materials in determining human sensorial comfort, moisture vapor management property of heat resistant workwear material was examined in terms of increasing and decreasing rate and maximum value of relative humidity in the microclimate under the sweat pulse situation. An unique moisture regulation index, B$_{d}$, was calculated from the measurements using a novel dynamic sweating hot plate apparatus and was used to assess the buffering capacity of fabrics against a moisture vapor sweat pulse.e.
The purpose of this study was to investigate two different kinds of t-shirts on thermal responses at air temperature of $23{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, relative humidity of $70{\pm}5%$ and wind velocity not more than 0.5 m/sec. Five healthy men wearing boxy type t-shirts or fitted type t-shirts, participated as the subjects. Rectal temperature, skin temperatures, heart rate, clothing microclimate and subjective sensation were measured every 2 minute during experiment(rest, walking, recovery each 20 min.) and compared between two experimental garments(boxy type and fitted type t-shirts). Rectal temperature was lower in recovery phase at wearing fitted type t-shirts. Chest skin temperature was higher at wearing fitted type t-shirts and thigh and leg skin temperature were higher at wearing boxy type t-shirts.
