The objects of this study were to find out the effects of peer relations and perceived cognitive self-competence according to 1) grade, sex, and self-care, 2) parental social status and monitoring. 429 3rd- and 6th-graders (238 boys and 191 girls) were included as subjects. For measuring variables, RCP, Harter's Perceived Cognitive Self-Competence Rating Scale, and Parental Monitoring Questionnaire based on Crouter et al.(1990) were used. The data were analysed by MANOVA, t-test, and univariate ANOVA. The results were as follows.‘Social-Leadership’of peer relations was influenced by children's grade, grade $\times$ sex effects. 3-way interaction of children's variables and parental monitoring made significant differences in ‘Shy-Isolation’. Children's perceived cognitive self-competence was influenced by their grade and parent's social status. These results confirmed the significant roles of self-care and parental monitoring in children's development.

The purpose of this is to analyze environment of foreign direct investment and Act in Korea and to find invitation and extension of foreign direct investment into Korea. Investment incentives, simplification of investment procedures, image improvement, increased public relations and investment support services are all factors which can be enhanced in the short term to positively influence investors decision-making in where to invest. Since the enactment of the Foreign Investment Promotion Act in November of 1998, there has been a signification improvement in Korea's investment environment in terms of policies and systems. It is expected that the foreign direct investment environment in Korea will continue to improve through the improvement in political stability, labor-management relations and easing of political tensions between the North and South, in the long term, as well as through improvements in investment incentives, investment procedures and public relations activities, in the short term.

By using the notion of interval-valued fuzzy relations, we forms the poset (IVFR (X), $\leq$) of interval-valued fuzzy relations on a given set X. In particular, we forms the subposet (IVFE (X), $\leq$) of interval-valued fuzzy equivalence relations on a given set X and prove that the poset (IVFE(X), $\leq$) is a complete lattice with the least element and greatest element.

Robots need to understand as much as possible about their environmental situation and react appropriately to any event that provokes changes in their behavior. In this paper, we pay attention to topological relations between spatial objects and propose a model of robotic cognition that represents and infers temporal relations. Specifically, the proposed model extracts specified features of the cooccurrence matrix represents from disparity images of the stereo vision system. More importantly, a habituation model is used to infer intrinsic spatial relations between objects. A preliminary experimental investigation is carried out to verify the validity of the proposed method under real test condition.

Named entities (NEs) are important in many Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications, and discovering NE-related relations in texts may be beneficial for these applications. This paper proposes a method to extract the ISA relation between a "named entity" and its category, and an IS-RELATED-TO relation between the category and its related object. Based on the pattern extraction algorithm "Person Category Extraction" (PCE), we extend it for solving our problem. Our experiments on Wall Street Journal (WSJ) corpus show promising results. We also demonstrate a possible application of these relations by utilizing them for semantic search.

The purpose of this case study is to discuss the issues and challenges pertaining to industrial safety. The case study begins with the shocking incident of the brutal killing of top-executive of the company by agitated workers. Inspite of having conducive environment for business, Italian subsidiary Robusto Muro Ltd had to confront industrial Relations issues at an incredible and unprecedented level. Management perspective, workers viewpoint, competitors approach and diplomatic comments by political bigwigs have also been incorporated so that the students may have 3-dimensional understanding of the scenario. The case of such genre will facilitate the students to comprehend and discuss the employee-employer relationship and industrial safety, in particular and industrial relations and IR machinery, in general.

We use some known contiguous function relations for $_2F_1$ to show how simply the following three recurrence relations for Jacobi polynomials $P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta)}(x)$: (i) $({\alpha}+{\beta}+n)P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta})}(x)=({\beta}+n)P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta}-1)}(x)+({\alpha}+n)P_n^{({\alpha}-1,{\beta})}(x);$ (ii) $2P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta})}(x)=(1+x)P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta}+1)}(x)+(1-x)P_n^{({\alpha}+1,{\beta})}(x);$ (iii) $P_{n-1}^{({\alpha},{\beta})}(x)=P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta}-1)}(x)+P_n^{({\alpha}-1,{\beta})}(x)$ can be established.

The authors aim mainly at giving fifteen three-term contiguous relations for the basic hypergeometric series $series\;_2{\phi}_1$ corresponding to Gauss's contiguous relations for the hypergeometric series $series\;_2F_1$ given in Rainville([6], p.71). They also apply them to obtain two summation formulas closely related to a known q-analogue of Kummer's theorem.

This paper deals with analytical prediction for electromagnetic characteristics of a tubular linear actuator with Halbach array using transfer relations, namely, Melcher's methodology. Using transfer relations derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and a two-dimensional (2-d) cylindrical coordinate system, this paper derives analytical solutions for magnetic vector potential due to permanent magnets (PMs) and stator winding currents. On the basis of these analytical solutions, this paper also achieves analytical solutions for the magnetic fields distribution produced by PMs, stator windings current and axial thrust. The analytical results are validated extensively by finite element (FE) analyses. In particular, test results such as thrust measurements are given to confirm the analysis. Finally, this paper estimates control parameters using analytical solutions and test results such as thrust, back-emf, inductance and resistance measurements.
