Randomly chosen recombinant clones of Fusarium oxysporum were analysed to select useful probes for relatedness analysis of Fusarium oxysporum. Genomic DNA of F. oxysproum f. sp. cubense, digested with HindIII, was ligated to pUC118 and used to transform Escherichia coli strai DH5$\alpha$. Three clones were identified that hybridized to mutiple restriction fragments of some formae speciales of F. oxysporum. These probes detected repetitive sequences in HindIII or EcoRI digested DNAs. Repeated copy clone pFC46, pFC52 and pFC54 showed evident polymorphisms among ten formae speciales of this fungus. Since clone pFC 52 strongly hybridized to multiple EcoRI-digested restriction fragments of f. sp. cubense, it may be useful as a probe for analysis of other genetic characteristics of this forma specialis. The results suggest that our clones might be very useful as probes for relatedness analysis between or within formae speciales of Fusarium oxysporum.
This research examines the effect of the relatedness and the gap between Resources and mechanisms on effectiveness of inter-organizational knowledge transfer. According to the literature, there has been a competing theory between two claims; one is that inter-organizational knowledge transfer will be more effective due to the reduction of the transaction cost as the relatedness increases. And the other is that the mutual complementarity of different organizational characteristics will increase synergy. In total, the relatedness and the gap of the Resource and mechanism makes the inverted U-shaped relationship with the inter-organizational knowledge transfer. As the result of empirical analysis about 109 Korean-based Joint Ventures entered country, it shows that the relatedness of parent company's production Resources, learning mechanisms, and coordination mechanisms made the inverted U-shaped relations with the inter-organizational knowledge transfer and the gap of production Resources and adjustment mechanism formed the same relationship. However, the U-shaped relationship has been established in the relatedness of market Resources, but the gap of market Resources and the learning mechanism was not statistically significant. Through this study, I can draw a best conclusion that the inter-organizational knowledge transfer will be more effective when the relatedness and the gap of management resources and mechanisms is in optimal level. However, when it comes to market Resources, it can be inferred that the result could be the opposite because the partner country's market environment would be different.
This paper proposes an approach using taxonomic relatedness for answer-type recognition and type coercion in a question-answering system. We introduce a question analysis method for a lexical answer type (LAT) and semantic answer type (SAT) and describe the construction of a taxonomy linking them. We also analyze the effectiveness of type coercion based on the taxonomic relatedness of both ATs. Compared with the rule-based approach of IBM's Watson, our LAT detector, which combines rule-based and machine-learning approaches, achieves an 11.04% recall improvement without a sharp decline in precision. Our SAT classifier with a relatedness-based validation method achieves a precision of 73.55%. For type coercion using the taxonomic relatedness between both ATs and answer candidates, we construct an answer-type taxonomy that has a semantic relationship between the two ATs. In this paper, we introduce how to link heterogeneous lexical knowledge bases. We propose three strategies for type coercion based on the relatedness between the two ATs and answer candidates in this taxonomy. Finally, we demonstrate that this combination of individual type coercion creates a synergistic effect.
This study investigated the relations between gratitude disposition and the ego-integrity of elderly men and women, focused on generativity and relatedness toward spouse, children, and friends as well as examined gender differences for each path. The subjects were 341 Korean elderly men and women over the age of 60 living in the Busan, Daegu, and Gyeongsang areas. Collected data were analyzed by PASW ver. 18.0 and AMOS 20.0 programs; in addition, frequency, Cronbach ${\alpha}$, Pearson's correlation coefficients, t-test and structural equation modeling were also used for data analysis. The results were as follows. First, the Korean elderly's gratitude disposition had a positive influence on ego-integrity and generativity as well as on relatedness toward spouse, children, and friends. In addition, the relatedness toward spouse, children, and friends of Korean elderly had direct influences on generativity and indirect influences on ego-integrity by mediating generativity. Second, it showed that there was a gender difference in the structural model that explained the relations among the variables. Korean elderly men's relatedness toward spouse, children, and friends had direct effects on generativity. However, in case of Korean elderly women, only relatedness toward children and friends had effects on generativity. The results were discussed in terms of elderly education.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that affect the health promoting behavior targeted older women. Methods: Subjects were 181 women older than 60 years who agreed to participate and understand the purpose of the study. A trained investigator collected data using structured questionnaires regarding general characteristics, health-related characteristics, competence, relatedness, and health promoting behavior. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 program by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean age of subjects was 74.7 years old. Factors showing significant associations with health promoting behavior were age, educational level, family type, economic status, current health status, competence, and relatedness. Stepwise regression analysis identified that age, current health status, competence, and relatedness were factors affecting on health promoting behavior. Conclusion: This study shows that competence and relatedness are influencing factors on health promoting behavior in older women. Therefore, it is important to emphasize competence and relatedness for developing a health promoting program.
This study investigated health problems and work-relatedness for fishermen. In total, 121 fishermen (103 males and 18 females) were extracted from the data of the 6th Korean Working Conditions Survey. Two groups (Symptomatic and Asymptomatic) were statistically compared in terms of health problems and exposure to hazards. The most common health problems identified for fishermen were muscular pain in the shoulder, neck, and upper limbs (73.6%), backache (71.1%), muscular pain in the lower limbs (58.7%), overall fatigue (33.9%), headaches or eyestrain (22.3%), and anxiety (8.3%). These health problems were found to be related to the working conditions of the fishermen (low temperatures, tiring or painful postures, stance, sitting position, repetitive hand or arm placement, and the experience of stress). This study's findings may help us better understand the characteristics of the health problems and work-relatedness of fishermen and could be helpful for improving fishermen's overall health and safety.
This research is about the effects of individuality, relatedness on organizational commitment and job satisfaction. This research analyzed 140 new employees. We used four tools to assess the new employees: individuality scale, relatedness scale, organizational commitment scale and job satisfaction scale. The research was based on two questions. Question 1. Does individuality have any relation to job satisfaction and organizational commitment? Question 2. does relatedness have any relation to job satisfaction and organizational commitment? The results indicated a positive correlation between individuality and organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Results also showed a positive correlation between relatedness and organizational commitment and job satisfaction. According to the result of one way analysis of variance, the group which scored individuality and relatedness scoreabove the mean value best reflected the qualities of organizational commitment and job satisfaction.
In MMORPGs, there are many problems with the Grinding player experience. This research divides the Grinding player experience into four dimensions: Grinding in-Autonomy, Competence, Relatedness and Positive affect through theoretical investigation of game experience. Through the study of Litman (2008), Curiosity is divided into two dimensions, I-Type Curiosity and D-Type Curiosity, and the relationship between Curiosity and Grinding player experience is studied. By distributing questionnaires, collecting data, and using SPSS software to conduct reliability analysis, validity analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis on the data, it is verified that in MMORPG, I-Type Curiosity can positively affect Grinding in-Autonomy, Competence, Relatedness and Positive affect. D-Type Curiosity can positively affect Grinding in-Autonomy, Competence and Positive affect, but D-Type Curiosity has no statistical relationship with Grinding in-Relatedness. And through the standardized coefficient (Beta) value, between the Curiosity factors, I-Type Curiosity has a greater impact on Grinding in-Autonomy and Positive affect, and D-Type Curiosity has a greater impact on Grinding in-Competence. Finally, from the perspective of I-Type Curiosity and D-Type Curiosity, combined with the drawbacks of the MMORPG Gringding mechanism, some concrete and feasible suggestions and optimization schemes are put forward to improve the Grinding player experience. This research result can provide some feasible suggestions for MMORPG developers and designers, optimize the MMORPG Grinding mechanism from the perspective of I-Type Curiosity and D-Type Curiosity, and improve the Grinding player experience. It can provide appropriate assistance for the improved development of MMORPG games.

This paper investigates empirically the relationship between various business portfolio properties (particularly technological properties) and chaebol′s performance using data on the 50 largest chaebols in Korea. In addition to the traditional indexes to measure diversification such as entropy index we calculated inter-industry technological similarity using R&D expenditure data by industry and 1990 Input-output Table in Korea, and obtained chaebol-level technological relatedness and internal transaction proportion from chaebols′business profile, inter-industry technological similarity and 1990 input-output table. We applied factor analysis on 13 business portfolio property indexes and showed that they could be grouped into 3 dimensions, diversification scope, inter-business relatedness and degree of vertical integration. In this paper, using 50 largest chaebols′financial data (1989-1994), we analyzed empirically the effect of business portfolio properties on ROS (Return On Sales) which is conventional index for firm performance and on TFP(Total Factor Productivity) growth which is a pure measure of firm performance. To utilize the advantage of panel data, FEM(Fixed Effect Model) and REM(Random Effect Model) were used. The empirical result shows that the entropy index as a measurement of inter-business relatedness is not significant but technological relatedness index is significant. OLS estimates on pooled data were considerably different from FEM or REM estimates on panel data. By introducing interaction effect among the three variables for business portfolio properties, we obtained three findings. First, only VI (Vertical integration) has a significant positive correlation with ROS. Second, when using TFP growth as an dependent variable, both TR(Technological Relatedness) and f[ are significant and positively related to the deepened variable. Third, the interaction term between TR and VI is significant and negatively affects TFP growth, meaning that TR and VI are substitutes. These results suggest strategic directions on restructuring business portfolio. As VI is increased, chaebols will get more profit. A higher level of either TR or W will increase TFP growth rate. but increase in both TR and VI will have a negative effect on TFP growth. To summarize, certain business portfolio properties such as VI and TR can be considered "resources" themselves since they can affect profit rate and productivity growth. VI and TR have a synergy effect of change in profit rate and productivity growth. VI increases ROS and productivity growth, while TR increases productivity growth representing a technological synergy effect.
