Development of sewer condition assessment and rehabilitation decision-making program(SCARD) (하수관거 평가 및 정비 우선순위 의사결정도구 개발)

  • A CCTV inspection method has been widely used to assess sewer condition and performance, but Korea lacks a proper decision support system for prioritizing sewer repair and rehabilitation (R&R). The objective of this paper is to introduce the results that we have developed in the Sewer Condition Assessment and Rehabilitation Decision-making (SCARD) Program using MS-EXCEL. The SCARD-Program is based on a standardized defect score for sewer structural and hydraulic assessment. Priorities are ranked based on risk scores, which are calculated by multiplying the sewer severity scores by the environmental impacts. This program is composed of three parts, which are decision-making for sewer condition and performance assessment, decision-making for sewer R&R priority assessment, and decision-making for optimal budget allocation. The SCARD-Program is useful for decision-makers, as it enables them to assess the sewer condition and to prioritize sewer R&R within the limited annual budget. In the future, this program logic will applied to the GIS-based sewer asset management system in local governments.

Proposal of East-West Integrative Medicine Manual for Rehabilitation after Knee Surgery (무릎 수술 후 재활 치료에서의 한양방협진 매뉴얼 제안)

  • Objectives This is one of the manuals of East-West integrative medicine which was created by the committee on integrative medicine of Chung-Yeon Korean Medicine Hospital. The purpose of this manual is to support clinical decision-making and communication between Korean and western medical staff in a Korean medicine hospital during the rehabilitation of patients after knee surgery. Methods The draft was made by two rehabilitation specialists in Korean medicine. After a rehabilitation specialist in western medicine reviewed the draft and exchanged their ideas, a revised version that reflects the goal of consultation was made. Then the committee agreed to adopt the manuals through the process of review and feedback in addition to face-to-face discussions. Results This manual describes clinical decision-making for rehabilitation after arthroscopic partial meniscus resection, meniscus refixation, reconstruction of anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments. Therefore, it contains the schedule of rehabilitation treatment by the surgical technique, general goal of the rehabilitation by phase, guide for patients and postoperative infection management. Conclusions Despite some limitations, this manual has significance as the first example of a decision-making protocol suggestion for East-West integrative rehabilitation treatment after a knee surgery in one medical institution.

  • Every public agency governing infrastructure has to plan effectively for rehabilitation of existing facilities within the constraints of the capital program. Numerous technical, social, political, financial, and management constraints govern the decision to rehabilitate a facility. However, without a systematic procedure for selecting facilities for rehabilitation, within the prevailing constraints, it is possible that the funds available for rehabilitation might be suboptimized. Therefore, a decision support system that assists the user in selecting facilities for rehabilitation while considering the technical, social, financial, and political and management constraints will be useful in the decision-making process. This paper compares the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the Swing Weight method used to prioritize functional criteria for suburban station rehabilitation. This paper also contains a brief discussion about the relevance of the Multi Attribute utility theory in developing a decision model for the problem at hand. The results of this paper provides the user with a decision support system that would prioritize the stations in order of their weights obtained by a systematic evaluation of various criteria and sub-criteria involved in the decision making process

  • The objective of sewer rehabilitation is to improve its function while eliminating inflow/infiltration (I/I) and insufficient carrying capacity (ICC). Such rehabilitation efforts, however, have not been particularly successful due to a lack of sewer data and unsystematic field practices. The present study aimed to solve these problems by developing a decision making model consisting of two models: the rehabilitation weighting model (RWM) and the rehabilitation priority model (RPM). In RWM, the I/I of each pipe in a drainage district is estimated according to various defects, with each defect given an individual weighting factor using an analytic hierarchy process (AHP). RPM determines the optimal rehabilitation priority (ORP) using a genetic algorithm (GA). The developed models can be used to overcome the problems associated with unsystematic practices and, in practice, as a decision making tool for urban sewer system rehabilitation.

  • Our government is interested in the rehabilitation for the old sewer rather than the construction of a new sewer system. However, the research work on the sewer rehabilitation is not sufficient as much as the interest on the rehabilitation is increased. There are some research works for the determination of rehabilitation time by the genetic algorithm in Korea and foreign countries. However, the previous studies have considered the simple elements for the determination of the rehabilitation time and so the complex decision-making according to the degree of sewer superannuation has not been performed. Therefore, in this study, we estimate the capacity and Ⅰ/Ⅰ of sewer and determine the priority of the optimal rehabilitation for each outfall within the draining system. Also we develop the optimal rehabilitation decision making system for the cost estimation of optimal rehabilitation using the genetic algorithm.

  • This study used three types of survey, an anxiety for practice, a career decision making self-efficacy, and a career decision level for students majoring in language rehabilitation in college in order to provide an effective guide for practice and career decision. By using 18.0 SPSS statistic package, the data has examined with Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Bonferroni test based on student's grade, academic record and practice duration. The result of study is as follows. First, based on grade, students showed significant differences on several subfactors of the anxiety for practice and the level of career decision-making. Second, based on an academic point and practice duration, there were significantly different in several subfactors of the anxiety for practice, the career decision-making self efficacy, the career decision level. Consequently grade, academic record and practice duration influenced student's conception for practice and career.

Rehabilitation Therapy Selection Process in Parents of Children with Cerebral Palsy: Grounded Theory (뇌성마비아동 보호자들의 재활치료 선택 과정: 근거이론 중심)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect the optimal selection of rehabilitation therapy and explore a processing model of rehabilitation decision-making for parents of children with cerebral palsy. A ground theory of Strauss and Corbin(1988)was used. Thus, collecting data was classified into open coding 140 concepts, 29 sub-categories and 8 categories. As a result of analysis, we identified that the main phenomenon was 'finding optimal therapy in trial and error' and parents experienced 6 stages including 'embarrassment', 'confusion', 'maximization', 'wandering', 'strategy', and 'balance'. Furthermore, 'rehabilitation-daily life balance' was a key category for continuation of treatment. This qualitative study discribed factors influencing determination of treatment and its continuation, and suggested a processing model of parents' decision- making for rehabilitation of their children.
