Major industrial accidents such as fires, explosions and toxic releases have occurred in Ulsan, Yeosu petrochemical complex area every year. In this study, we analyzed the causes of the previous major accidents in order to provide reasonable measures for safety regulations and process safety management. Consequently, It is necessary to make constant revisions of safety regulations and to improve process safety management in other to prevent major industrial accidents in the petrochemical complex areas.

Purpose - Based on the existing retail policy literature, this study aims to compare Korea with foreign countries, to propose better ideas for the Korean retail market. Research design, data, and methodology - It is necessary to analyze the existing retail regulations after categorizing them into several groups, depending on why governments have regulated retailers and the background for the retail policy. Results - Given that Korean retail regulations have focused on protecting conventional markets, comparing the retail policy objectives of South Korea and foreign countries is difficult. Conclusions - It is necessary examine how to protect independent stores, irrespective of store locations across the country. Rather than limiting the distance between traditional markets and the projected locations suggested by large retailers, various factors such as store size limit, opening and closing times, below-cost selling, land use planning, and competition tests are needed to protect small stores. Further, centralized authority for store operations should be delegated to local governments, to tackle the aggressive expansion of retail giants. To protect independent stores, political background is among the most important factors.

The world has faced with various environmental problems such as climatic change, global pollution, and depletion of natural resources. Conventional economic development continues not only to intensify the magnitude of the problems but also to damage growth potential of future generations. Therefore, recent manufacturers are highly required to accommodate themselves to sustainable development that aims at preventing the loss to the future generations. Moreover, the manufacturers are under heavy pressure from various environmental regulations. This paper proposes green bill of material (Green-BOM) which conforms to the environmental regulations to restructure eco-friendly manufacturing system. Green-BOM is useful for managing green product and process information to satisfy several environmental regulations by recording energy consumption, recycle rate, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), substance information, and so on.

It is expected that use of groundwater wells for contaminated groundwater remediation, artificial groundwater recharge and geothermal heat pump systems is increasing in the future in Korea. Some practical confusions may be produced due to lack of regulations related to permits and registrations of these types of wells. This short note is intended to draw attention of relevant professionals by shortly introducing some relevant code of state regulations in Missouri, USA.

This study examines the Section of 'Housing Regulations' in The Chronicles of the Three States (${\ulcorner}$三國史記${\lrcorner}$ 屋舍條) to verify the residential architecture during the period of the Unified Silla Dynasty. Through the study, the basic architectural terms in the Section of 'Housing Regulations', such as the size of the building, glazing roof tile, animal-shaped ornamental piece on roof ridge, eave purlin, wooden bracket arms, roof decoration, decorative paintings, stone steps, wall structure, blind screen, folding screen, bedstead, and gate are analyzed, interpreted and defined, and, in addition, the forms and styles of the residential architecture during the period of the Unified Silla Dynasty are basically reconstructed.

Along with the significance of information systems in today s global business operation, the significance of information systems control and audit is ever increasing in the effort to secure accuracy and integrity of vital business data. A study is undertaken to integrate Food and Drug Administration computerized systems validation regulations. Securities & Exchange Commission Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 200 and other significant regulations, and lastly, People Capability Maturity Model into one comprehensive information system validation model. The initial benefits to this comprehensive model are convenience, time-saving, and synchronization of the regulations. An organization that is striving for a high level of quality system in its essential operating areas of organization may opt for this model. After the complete development of the model, a field test would be scheduled to test its efficacy and validity.

A safe and secure civil aviation system is a critical component of the nation's overall security, physical infrastructure, and economic foundation. Although it is not fully known at this time what actually occurred or which of the weaknesses in the nation's aviation security apparatus contributed to the terrible events of 11 September in the U.S.A., it is clear that serious weaknesses exist in our aviation security system including regulation system. Actually, defectiveness of regulations structure and contents concerned in aviation security were discussed in various studies. On this study, we have identified defectiveness in aviation security regulation system by the comparative study between 14 CFR and Korean regulations. Finally, we are to provide some suggestions and alternatives to improve aviation security regulation system in this country.

Renewable energy technology development has been carrying out in 11 different areas so far. Many technologies are being applied to the required areas according to its own characteristics. Before launching the development, these technologies have been evaluated by their commercial effect and contribution to energy supply. In this paper, the impact factors enhancing the distribution of renewable energy were developed to select appropriate diffusion regulations for each technology area. In addition, AHP methodology was introduced to investigate priorities of the regulations along with weights of impact factors.

Unpreparedness of the maintenance regulations is regarded as the main reason for the short life span of the multi-owned commercial residential buildings. This study suggests that the followings should be prepared for the effective maintenance and life prolongation of the multi-owned commercial residential buildings : 1) Standard maintenance regulations for those buildings should be set up, 2) Building maintenance works should be performed by the specialists, like licensed building manager, mechanical and electrical engineers, etc., 3) Long-range repair expenses should be laid by on the monthly base according to the long-range repair plan, 4) Regulations concerning the defect repair should be provided properly.

Injury Ratio Survey Regulations(IRS) was introduced to the construction industry in the Republic of Korea since 1992 and brought positive effect on occupational accidents reduction. There were tremendous decrease of injury ratios and enforcing of contractors' safety organizations from the beginning of IRS. In spite of these positive results, there were some negative effects such as contractors' shrinking injury reports to keep good injury ratios since these figures had a great impact on pre-qualification stage of bidding when general contractors were competing for new construction projects. Thus, this study aims to devote on lessening construction injury and elimination of above negative impacts through the quantitative statistic analysis of the effectiveness on the occupational accidents prevention of IRS. According to this assessment, there were decrease of from 6.37% to 44.34% in the accident ratios compared to those of non-IRS groups and decrease of from 3.32% to 83.51 % in the accident ratios compared to those of general industry including the unreported accidents.
