State of the art and current issues related with the RC and PSC structure system for the German magnetic levitation train "Transrapid" were investigated. The German magnetic levitation train adopted a new kind of a structure to enable high-speed transportation, which allows the use of the space over a ground. The loading from Transrapid is light-weight compared with a regular train due to load distribution to a supporting structure. Therefore, Transrapid is considered an economical and efficient transportation system, and is also an environmentally-sustainable structure. In this paper, the structural design and construction technology specific to a magnetic levitation train were discussed, and structural considerations related with an actual operation of the train were pointed out. In addition, the future research area of a magnetic levitation train was proposed.

In this paper, we propose the self-autonomous algorithm for mobile robot system. The proposed mobile robot system controlled by Personal Digital Assistant(PDA) can follow the target at regular intervals. The mobile robot can evaluate the distance between robot and target with ultrasonic sensors, transmits the distance to the PDA. The velocity and direction decided in PDA are transmitted to the mobile robot with wireless LAN communication. Considering the state, velocity-changing and distance-maintenance, of the mobile robot, driving velocity and direction are applied. For safety, the velocity of the mobile robot is changed step by step. As a result, we confirm the ability of following the target with proposed mobile robot.

Middleware offers function that user application program can transmit data independently of network device. Connection management about network connection of module is important for normal service of module base personal robot. Unpredictable network disconnection is influenced to whole robot performance in module base personal robot. For this, Middleware must be offer two important function. The first is function of error detection and reporting about abnormal network disconnection. Therefore, middleware need method for network error detection and module management to consider special quality that each network device has. The second is the function recovering that makes the regular service possible. When the module closed from connection reconnects, as this service reports connection state of the corresponding module, the personal robot resumes the existing service. In this paper proposed method of network connection management for to support fault tolerant about network error of network module based personal robot.

Breast cancer primary prevention is a high research priority due to the high psychological and economic costs. The disease is a multistep process and several risk factors have been recognized. Over the past three decades numerous studies have investigated the association of lifestyle with breast cancer, showing independent effects of various factors. We report here a summary of the present state of knowledge on the role of lifestyle patterns, such as physical activity, diet, smoking, hormone therapy, and experience of psychological stress in the modulation of breast cancer in women, and discuss commonly accepted biological mechanisms hypothesized as responsible for the associations. The findings indicate that regular physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity is probably linked with the decreased breast cancer risk among postmenopausal females and suggestive for a decrease of the risk in premenopausal women. In contrast, the consumption of high-fat diet, alcohol intake, and use of combined estrogen and synthetic progestagen hormonal therapy may increase the risk. Epidemiological findings dealing with a role of smoking and experience of psychological stress are conflicting.

the observations in situ and the seawater analyses were conducted in July and August, 1996 for the purpose of evaluating the characteristics of seawater quality centered on eutrophication in Mokpo harbour. By applying the OECD standards of trophic classification to the parameters such as secchi depth, total inorganic nitrogen, phosphate phosphorus and chlorophyll-a, the trophic level of seawater in Mokpo harbour was evaluated to be in eutrophic state in summer. By the estimation of pollution index with relation to eutrophication, the seawater quality of Mokpo harbour was evaluated to be under the regular grades and this evaluation was found to be different from the results of evaluation obtained by the environmental index of single parameter, chemical oxygen demand. By the estimation of eutrophication index, the seawaters of Mokpo harbour were shown to have the high potentiality of red tide occurrence.

The uneven distribution of rolling friction coefficient may lead to great uncertainty in the structural seismic isolation performance. This paper attempts to improve the isolation performance of a spring-damper-rolling isolation system by artificially making the uneven friction distribution to be concave. The rolling friction coefficient gradually increases when the isolator rolls away from the original position during an earthquake. After the spring-damper-rolling isolation system under different ground motions was calculated by a numerical analysis method, the system obtained more regular results than that of random uneven friction distributions. Results shows that the concave friction distribution can not only dissipate the earthquake energy, but also change the structural natural period. These functions improve the seismic isolation efficiency of the spring-damper-rolling isolation system in comparison with the random uneven distribution of rolling friction coefficient, and always lead to a relatively acceptable isolation state even if the actual earthquake significantly differs from the design earthquake.

This study carried out surveys for 197 nail shop practitioners and 195 customers 1) to study the real condition of their hygiene awareness and safety consciousness and 2) to grasp their awareness of the necessity of legislating a related bill so as to build an independent domain of business and to propose data on the national qualification system of nail care. As a result, it was found that the level of the nail care practitioners' experiences of safety education was very low, and that the customers attached importance to the necessity of nail salon practitioners' certificate and license and the nail treatment-related bill more than the nail care practitioners themselves. In conclusion, the preparation of a nail art-related bill is required at the state level for the management of the safety and hygiene of national health, and systematic and regular education related to hygiene should be carried out.

The in situ observations and the seawater analyses were conducted in July and Auguse, 1996 for the purpose of evaluating the characteristics of seawater quality centered about eutrophication in Mokpo harbour. By applying the OECD standards of trophic classification to the parameters such as secchi depth, total inorganic nitrogen, phosphate phosphorus and chlorophyll-a, the trophic level of seawater in Mokpo harbour was evaluated to be in eutrophic state in summer. The estimation of pollution index by eutrophication showed the seawater quality of Mokpo harbour to deteriorate and fall under the regular grades. The results of eutrophic index estimation showed the high otentiality of red tide occurrence in Mokpo harbour.

A simplified power control technique for electronic ballasts of HID lamps is proposed. This power calculator and controller consist of regular operational amplifiers with some passive elements and form simple add operation circuit. From a mathematical model of designed ballast with proposed power controller, the control performance and stability are analyzed by using Matlab and the results show that the stable starting characteristics and steady state characteristics of HID lamp are appropriately guaranteed. The experimental results of the prototype ballast coincide with the simulation results.
