Factor Analysis of Linear Type Traits and Their Relation with Longevity in Brazilian Holstein Cattle

  • In this study we aimed to evaluate the reduction in dimensionality of 20 linear type traits and more final score in 14,943 Holstein cows in Brazil using factor analysis, and indicate their relationship with longevity and 305 d first lactation milk production. Low partial correlations (-0.19 to 0.38), the medium to high Kaiser sampling mean (0.79) and the significance of the Bartlett sphericity test (p<0.001), indicated correlations between type traits and the suitability of these data for a factor analysis, after the elimination of seven traits. Two factors had autovalues greater than one. The first included width and height of posterior udder, udder texture, udder cleft, loin strength, bone quality and final score. The second included stature, top line, chest width, body depth, fore udder attachment, angularity and final score. The linear regression of the factors on several measures of longevity and 305 d milk production showed that selection considering only the first factor should lead to improvements in longevity and 305 milk production.

Morphological Studies on the Jack Mackerel Populations

  • This work concerns morphological studies of the Japaness jack mackerel, Trachurus japonicus(Temminck & Schlegel). A total of 48 random samples consisting of 2669 fish is examined, representing three geographic regions, namely, Kamakura, Nagasaki, and Tottori. Preservation affects length and weight of fish considerably, but the variability after 10 days is shown to be negligible. The variability in measuring the morphometric characters due to different measures and orders is found to be significant. They are relatively small, however, compared to the variability in mean length to be expected in samples drawn from the population. Two meristic characters, namely, anal and second dorsal fin rays and three morphometric characters, namely, head length, first and second dorsal insertion distances are chosen for the study. Results of the statistical analysis reveal that differences in the selected meristic characters among samples within and between regions are found to be significant. In general, it is reasonable to state that the jack mackerel collected in Nagasaki region, on the average, have greatest number of anal fin ray and second dorsal fin ray followed by Kamakura, and Tottori regions in that order. It is found that although no significant differences in the slope of regression line are noticed, the mean differences of the selected morphometric measurements in relation to fish length are found to be significant among samples within each region. Differences in the regression coefficients as well as the adjusted sample means are found to be significant between regions. The analysis suggests that samples from Nagasaki region, on the average, have longest head length and greatest distances from snout to the insertion of first dorsal and second dorsal fins followed by Kamakura, and Tottori regions in that order.

Classification of Speech and Car Noise Signals using the Slope of Autocovariances in Frequency Domain (주파수 영역 자기 공분산 기울기를 이용한 음성과 자동차 소음 신호의 구분)

  • Speech signal and car noise signal such as muffler noise are segregated from the one which has both signals mixed using statistical method. To classify speech signal from the other in segregated signals, FFT coefficients were obtained for all segments of a signal where each segment consists of 128 elements of a signal. For several coefficients of FFT corresponding to the low frequencies of a signal, autocovariances are calculated between coefficients of same order of all segments of a signal. Then they were averaged over autocovariances. Linear equation was eatablished for the those autocovariances using the linear regression method for each siganl. The coefficient of the slope of the line gives reference to compare and decide what the speech signal is. It is what this paper proposes. The results show it is very useful.

  • ea­RED(Efficient Adaptive RED)[1][2] 라우터 버퍼 관리 알고리즘 성능 향상을 위해서 ea­RED 라우터 버퍼 사이즈 변화를 예측할 수 있는 예측 알고리즘 모듈의 추가 필요성을 느낀다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 ea­RED 라우터 버퍼 관리 알고리즘의 원형인 RED 라우터 버퍼 관리 알고리즘에 AR(AutoRegression Analysis), IIR(Infinite Impulse Response) MACD(Moving Average Convergence & Divergence), LR_Lines(Linear Regression Lines)등의 예측 알고리즘 모듈을 적용하여 변화를 살펴보고. 결과를 비교. 분석하여 ea­RED 라우터 버퍼 관리 알고리즘 성능 향상에 가장 적합한 예측 알고리즘으로 LR_Lines를 선정했다. ea­RED 라우터 버퍼 관리 알고리즘에 적합한 예측 알고리즘 선정을 위해서 RED 라우터 버퍼 관리 알고리즘을 대신 이용한 이유는 ea­RED 라우터 버퍼 관리 알고리즘의 경우 네트워크 상황에 따라, 버퍼 관련 파라미터 값을 수시로 바꾸기 때문에 예측 알고리즘의 정확성을 판단하는데 어려움이 있지만, RED 라우터의 경우는 버퍼 관련 파라미터 값을 변화시키지 않기 때문에, 좀 더 일관성 있고 정확한 분석을 수행할 수 있기 때문이다.

Analysis beef consumption using SUR

  • This various factors that affect beef consumption behavior between different types of beef such as Hanwoo, Australian, American, and domestic Yukwoo. Previous studies usually used almost ideal demand system (AIDS) model to show the degree of substitution between meats especially domestic and foreign beef. This a real expenditure each individual and to explain what factors affect consumers especially focusing on various beef. Hence, previous studies used shares and prices as key variableshowever, this study use various socio-demographic variables, consumption tendency, satisfaction and importance for beef consumption, purchasing usage and part, etc. This study a seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) model to enhance efficiency of estimates because error terms of four beef consumption equations are correlated. For, an on-line survey was performed Aug. 5 - 14, and we obtained 979 effective samples. The results show that high income group (more than 700 mil. won per month) purchases more beef than other groups. The origin of orders is Hanwoo, Yukwoo, Australian beef, and American beef. A family who member purchases more Yukwoo than other groups. foreign affects beef consumption regardless of its origin. Individuals who think origin and taste prefer Hanwoo. However, individuals who think price prefer Australian beef.

Channel Capacity Analysis for Indoor PLC Networks with Considering the Effect of Loading conditions of Networks on Channel State Information (네트워크 부하 조건의 변화가 채널 상태 정보에 미치는 영향을 고려한 옥내 전력선 통신 채널의 채널 용량 분석)

  • We analyze the channel capacity with considering the effect of the loading conditions of indoor PLC networks on channel state information. We consider various numbers of load for two kinds of the networks with regular length branches and a deployed network of indoor PLC. For calculating the channel capacity degradation, two noise scenarios and impedances are considered. From the simulation results, we suggest the robust regression lines for modeling the channel capacity degradation. In the cases of 0 $\Omega$ and $Z_0$ loads, natural log and linear function curve show the best goodness of fit, respectively. For the deployed indoor PLC network with 0 $\Omega$ loads, compared with the networks with regular length branches, the goodness of fit decreases by the amount of 0.12 and 0.15 for low noise and high noise scenarios, respectively. Using the regression lines, we can estimate the channel capacity degradation without measurement.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the measurement of fashion sensibility and to verify the validity and utility. The survey has been done 91 photos selected in fashion magazines with 25 semantic differential hi-polar scale. The obtained data were analyzed by MDS, Discriminant analysis and Regression analysis. The major findings of this research were as follows. 1. According to the sensibility positioning, fashion image was classified by 4 group and agreed with constructing factors of fashion. 2. As result of the discrimination analysis, distinguishable fashion sensibility among design elements of clothing was related to refined, pleasant, feel like buying sensibility. 3. As result of the regression analysis, Preference was related to looking good, refined, and sweet, Buying needs related to likable, looking good and natural, Riches related to elegant, neat and refined, Pleasure related to looking good, elegant and bright. 4. The fashion design properties were different regarding Preference, Buying needs. Riches and Pleasure. Preference and Buying needs were related to H-line, similarity color combination, cotton and linen, Riches related to brilliance texture, ruffle and flounces, Pleasure related to fit and sexy design of clothing.

Design and Performance Test of Large-Area Susceptor for the Improvement of Temperature Uniformity (온도 균일도 향상을 위한 대면적 서셉터의 설계 및 성능 시험)

  • Although sheath-type heating line is generally used for susceptor heater, performance deterioration problems in temperature uniformity occurs in the case of large scale and high temperature condition. We developed new design and prototype of the susceptor using sheet metal to provide performance improvement in temperature uniformity. Temperature uniformity below 1.4% in the surface temperature condition of $450^{\circ}C$ was verified in the susceptor prototype. Also we developed Kernel regression algorithm to estimate measured temperature using temperature learning data. The reliability of the measured temperature uniformity was confirmed by comparative analysis between predicted data and measured data.

Evaluation of Ice Adhesion Strength on the Oxidation of Transmission Line ACSR Cable (송전선로 ACSR 케이블의 산화에 따른 결빙 특성 평가)

  • Ice accumulation on Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced(ACSR) cable during winter is an important matter in terms of safety, economy, and efficient power supply. In this work, the ice adhesion strengths of ACSR cable oxidized during different periods(7 years oxidized and 15 years oxidized) are evaluated. At first, a plate type dry oxidation standard specimen, whose surface characteristics are similar to those of ACSR cable, is prepared. Dry oxidation standard specimens are heat-treated at $500^{\circ}C$ for 20, 60, and 120 minutes in order to obtain different degrees of oxidation. After the dry oxidation, surface properties are analyzed using contact angle analyzer, atomic force microscopy, spectrophotometer, and gloss meter. The ice adhesion strengths are measured using an ice pull-off tester. Correlations between the surface properties and the ice adhesion strength are obtained through a regression analysis indicating a Boltzmann equation. It is revealed that the ice adhesion strength of 15-year oxidized ACSR cable is approximately 8 times higher than that of ACSR-bare.

Mediating Effect of Stress Coping Method in the Relationship Between Covid-19 Stress and Academic Burnout of College Students (대학생의 Covid-19 스트레스와 학업소진의 관계에서 스트레스 대처방식의 매개)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of Stress coping method in the relationship between Covid-19 stress and academic burnout of university students in the long-lasting Covid-19 situation. Methods: The subjects of this study were 323 college students and data were collected by on-line questionnaire survey. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and t-test, ANOVA, multiple linear regression analysis were conducted. Also mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron & Kenny method. Results: The results were as follows. First, students with high Covid-19 stress had high academic burnout by regression analysis. Second, in the stress coping method, the active coping method lowered academic burnout, and the passive coping method increased academic burnout. Third, the active coping method showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between Covid-19 stress and the academic burnout(p<.01). Conclusions: In order to help college students cope with academic burnout caused by Covid-19 stress, it is recommended to guide students to use active coping method through counseling and education. Ultimately, it is necessary to support students to use various coping methods according to their situation appropriately.
