Clinically-favored materials for bone regeneration are mainly based on bioceramics due to their chemical similarity to the mineral phase of bone. A successful scaffold in bone regeneration should have a 3D interconnected pore structure with the proper biodegradability, biocompatibility, bioactivity, and mechanical property. The pore architecture and mechanical properties mainly dependent on the fabrication process. Bioceramics scaffolds are fabricated by polymer sponge method, freeze drying, and melt molding process in general. However, these typical processes have some shortcomings in both the structure and interconnectivity of pores and in controlling the mechanical stability. To overcome this limitation, the rapid prototyping (RP) technique have newly proposed. Researchers have suggested RP system in fabricating bioceramics scaffolds for bone tissue regeneration using selective laser sintering, powder printing with an organic binder to form green bodies prior to sintering. Meanwhile, sintering process in high temperature leads to bad cost performance, unexpected crystallization, unstable mechanical property, and low bio-functional performance. The development of RP process without high thermal treatment is especially important to enhance biofunctional performance of scaffold. The purpose of this study is development of new process to fabricate ceramic scaffold at room temperature. The structural properties of the scaffolds were analyzed by XRD, FE-SEM and TEM studies. The biological performance of the scaffolds was also evaluated by monitoring the cellular activity.
In order to establish the process of interspecific protoplast fusion of the genus Cellulomonas capable of utilizing of cellulose, C. flavigena NCIB 12901 and Cellulomonas sp. CSI-1, the optimum conditions for the regeneration and fusion were examined. The condition of suitable osmotic stabilizer for the protoplast regeneration of C. flavigena was established by using 0.4M sorbitol. And then, by addition of 3% po]yvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) to cell wall regeneration medium, regeneration frequency was increased 3 times higher than that without PVP addition. The optimum conditions for the interspecific protoplast fusion between auxotrophic and antibiotics resistant mutants were obtained with 40%(W/V) of PEG (polyethylene glycol) 6000 as the fusogenic agent and 25mM of CaCl$_2$on treating time for 15 min. The fusion frequency between mutants was from 2.0$\times$10$^{-4}$ to 4.0$\times$10$^{-4}$ under the optimum conditions. The fusants were confirmed to revert from protoplast to cells of rod type during regeneration process and the aggregation of protoplast by PEG was observed. Also the progress of fusion was observed by scanning electron microscopy, Many isolated fusants were shown to be complement clones of both parents which occured at a high frequency among the isolated clones.
Regeneration, a process of reconstitution of the entire tissue, occurs throughout life in the olfactory epithelium (OE). Regeneration of OE consists of several stages: proliferation of progenitors, cell fate determination between neuronal and non-neuronal lineages, their differentiation and maturation. How the differentiated cell types that comprise the OE are regenerated, is one of the central questions in olfactory developmental neurobiology. The past decade has witnessed considerable progress regarding the regulation of transcription factors (TFs) involved in the remarkable regenerative potential of OE. Here, we review current state of knowledge of the transcriptional regulatory networks that are powerful modulators of the acquisition and maintenance of developmental stages during regeneration in the OE. Advance in our understanding of regeneration will not only shed light on the basic principles of adult plasticity of cell identity, but may also lead to new approaches for using stem cells and reprogramming after injury or degenerative neurological diseases.
In this study the performance analysis and cooling capacity of desiccant cooling system incorporating regenerative cooler and direct evaporative cooler in the regeneration air inlet were investigated on the condition of low regeneration temperature and time rotation 180s and area ratio of regeneration to dehumidification section 0.7. The cooling capacity and COP are evaluated at various effectiveness values of the direct evaporative cooler or the regenerative evaporative cooler. As either of effectiveness of the regenerative and direct evaporative coolers of desiccant cooling system increases, both the cooling capacity and COP increase, but effectiveness value of regenerative cooler gives the opposite effect on the system performance. It is found that effectiveness of regenerative cooler less than 0.7 shows the optimum cooling capacity.

In Korea, several design competition have been conducted to revitalize the cultural function of some areas using under-used space. However, though such sites include public and urban assets inherently, these projects defined their boundary as an isolated architectural or landscape design. Hence, this study will clarify the differentiated design content and process for public regeneration of under-used space through analysis of the case-study. For this purpose, firstly, the public and urban assets of under-used space will be analyzed to prove that it should be handled with wider boundaries and perspectives. And then, this study will reveal the limitation of design contents and process of Korean design competitions linking to the regeneration of under-used space after analyzing several case studies. Lastly, some differentiated design inducements conducted by the City of Oslo for the each regeneration plan of under-used space will be deducted, focusing on the fact that those projects have been implemented in more urban and connected ways. As a result, this study is strongly aiming to insist that the revitalization of under-used space should not be implemented by advertising a poetic symbolism. Instead, it must be an practical integrated plan emphasizing the connectivity with surrounding environment and diverse plan.
In this study, characteristics of gaseous pollutants and particulate matter were investigated on the condition of DPF regeneration and normal DPF condition. THC, CO, $CO_2$, NOx, and $CH_4$ were analyzed by MEXA-7200H and CVS-7100 respectively. Particulate Matter (PM) was measured by difference in weight of Membrane filter. Particle Number (PN) was measured by CPC analyzer. And Sulfate, Nitrate, Organic were measured by Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS). As a result, gaseous pollutants and particulate matter were detected in higher concentration during DPF regeneration than normal DPF condition. And the PN increased by 94%, the fuel consumption was reduced by 29% on DPF generation process. Sulfate, Nitrate and Organic were undetectable level during normal DPF condition. But the highest concentration of Sulfate, Nitrate and Organic were measured as $100{\mu}g/m^3$, $20{\mu}g/m^3$ and $15{\mu}g/m^3$ respectively on DPF regeneration condition. VOCs concentrations (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene) were analyzed by using PTR-MS. Benzene and Toluene emission have little or no change depending on DPF regeneration. But the Ethylbenzene and Xylene have comparatively low emissions on DPF regeneration.

The desiccant rotor is the most essential component of desiccant cooling system, but its design relies on manufacturer's experience and principles are not yet clear in spite of a lot of theoretical/experimental work published. The mathematical modeling of desiccant rotor needs solution of coupled partial differential equations of heat and mass transfer. In this study, numerical program is developed and validated using a real desiccant rotor. The calculation results are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data and other available numerical results. Optimization of desiccant rotor on the condition of low regeneration temperature are investigated. The optimal rotor speed at which the process outlet humidity becomes minimized, shows same as that of the system optimization. Compared to high regeneration temperature, broad is the range of optimal speed of low regeneration temperature. Systematic analysis on the optimal area ratio of regeneration to dehumidification section has also been conducted.

With the aid of fast computing power, resampling techniques are being introduced for simulation output analysis (SOA). Autocorrelation among the output from discrete-event simulation prohibit the direct application of resampling schemes (Threshold bootstrap, Binary bootstrap, Stationary bootstrap, etc) extend its usage to time-series data such as simulation output. We present a new method for inference from a regenerative process, regenerative bootstrap, that equals or exceeds the performance of classical regenerative method and approximation regeneration techniques. Regenerative bootstrap saves computation time and overcomes the problem of scarce regeneration cycles. Computational results are provided using M/M/1 model.

This paper presents the means of controlling the regeneration of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that is mounted on tactical vehicles to satisfy exhaust gas standards. The DPF captures particulate matter in the exhaust gas and combusts the captured particulate matter. This process is regeneration, which is essential to the normal performance of the DPF. Bad regeneration causes degradation of vehicle performance; worse, it can lead to a vehicle fire. DPF regeneration is performed by control logic. If the regeneration control logic does not properly reflect the operating characteristics of the vehicle, DPF regeneration may not occur. Consequently, it is very important to ensure the DPF operates properly by reflecting the operating characteristics of the tactical vehicle. This study analyzes the operational characteristics of a tactical vehicle and the DPF, and adds proper DPF regeneration control logic. Additionally, this study is intended to simultaneously improve the additional problems that may occur from operating under the added regeneration control logic.
This study is significant by suggesting the plan of urban regeneration strategy, selection of vitalization area and build basic DB for establishing a plan of urban regeneration vitalization and draw measures to evaluate and monitor as urban regeneration project is promoted in earnest. For the process of study, basic DB and evaluation monitoring index were examined based on collaboration proposal of 13 leading areas and (the agenda of) the plan of urban regeneration vitalization in 4 areas(Seoul, Changwon, Busan, Yeongju). This study can be concluded as follows; First, general information system which can support regeneration strategy vitalization plans for smooth promotion of the project and manage regeneration vitalization project and all kinds of city maintenance projects systematically are necessary. Second, monitoring of regeneration project should be firstly institutionalized. thrid, it's necessary to secure that city or county foundational management plan and the relations during the establishment of strategic vitalization plan. Finally, it's necessary to introduce and evaluate modularized plan suitable for Bottom-up regeneration project.
