A Fast Algorithm for Target Detection in High Spatial Resolution Imagery

  • Detection and identification of targets from remotely sensed imagery are of great interest for civilian and military application. This paper presents an algorithm for target detection in high spatial resolution imagery based on the spectral and the dimensional characteristics of the reference target. In this algorithm, the spectral and the dimensional information of the reference target is extracted automatically from the sample image of the reference target. Then in the entire image, the candidate target pixels are extracted based on the spectral characteristics of the reference target. Finally, groups of candidate pixels which form isolated spatial objects of similar size to that of the reference target are extracted as detected targets. The experimental test results showed that even though the algorithm detected spatial objects which has different shape as targets if the spectral and the dimensional characteristics are similar to that of the reference target, it could detect 97.5% of the targets in the image. Using hyperspectral image and utilizing the shape information are expected to increase the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • We proposed a Web cache replacement technique of a divided scope base that considered a size reference characteristics of a Web object for efficient operation of a Web base system and, in this study, analyzed performance of the replacement technique that proposed it though an experiment. We analyzed a reference characteristics of size to occur by a user reference characteristics through log analysis of a Web Base system in an experiment. And we divide storage scope of a cache server as its analysis result and tested this replacement technique based n divided scope. The proposed technique has a flexibility about a change of a reference characteristics of a user. Also, experiment result, we compared it with LRU and the LRUMIN which were an existing replacement technique and confirmed an elevation of an object hit ratio.

Reference Spent Fuel and Its Characteristics for a Deep Geological Repository Concept Development

  • This study addresses the reference spent fuel and its characteristics for developing a geological repository concept. As a disposal capacity of the reference repository system to be developed, spent fuel inventories were projected based on the basis of the Nuclear Energy Plan of the Long-term National Power Program. The reference spent fuel encompassing a variability in characteristics of all existing and future spent fuels of interest was defined. Key parameters in the reference fuel screening processes were the nuclear and mechanical design parameters and the burnup histories for existing spent fuels as of 1996 and for future spent fuels with the more extended burnup the initial enrichment and its expected turnup. The selected reference fuel was characterized in terms of initial enrichment, bumup, dimension, gross weight and age. Also the isotopic composition and the radiological properties are quantitatively identified. This information provided in this study could be used as input for repository system development and performance assessment and applied in fuel material balance evaluation for the various types of back-end fuel cycle studies.

  • 일반적으로 웹 기반 시스템의 성능을 높이기 위하여 웹 캐시를 사용하며, 대체 기법은 웹 캐시의 성능에 큰 영향을 미친다. 웹 캐시를 위한 대체 기법은 메모리 영역의 대체 기법과는 다르게, 대체되는 단위가 웹 객체이다. 또한 웹 객체는 사용자 참조 특성의 편차가 매우 크다. 따라서 웹 캐시론 위한 대체 기법은 이러한 웹 객체의 특성을 충분히 반영할 수 있어야한다. 하지만 기존의 기법에서는 이러한 특성을 충분히 반영하고 있지 못하다. 본 연구의 주된 관점은 참조특성 분석, 객체적중률의 향상, 응답시간의 개선이다. 이를 위해 로그분석을 이용하여 웹 객체의 참조특성을 분석하고, 이 참조특성의 분석 결과를 기반으로 분할된 웹 캐시 대체 기법을 제안하고 실험하였다. 실험 결과에서는, 제안 기법이 기존의 기법에 대해 객체 적중률과 응답속도의 성능이 개선되었음을 확인할 수 있다.

  • 웹기반의 디지털콘텐트 전송은 웹 객체를 단위로 이루어진다. 따라서 웹기반 콘덴트 전송의 성능을 향상시키기 위해서는 웹 객체의 참조특성 분석을 통한 반영이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 웹 객체의 참조특성의 분석을 통해 웹 객체의 전송 효율을 향상시킨 디지털콘텐트 전송 시스템을 설계하고 성능을 평가하였다. 제안시스템은 웹 객체의 참조특성을 반영하여, 캐싱 효율을 높임으로서 전체 시스템의 처리지연시간을 개선하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있으며 실험 결과 제안시스템의 성능이 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

Comparison of Traditional Workloads and Deep Learning Workloads in Memory Read and Write Operations

  • With the recent advances in AI (artificial intelligence) and HPC (high-performance computing) technologies, deep learning is proliferated in various domains of the 4th industrial revolution. As the workload volume of deep learning increasingly grows, analyzing the memory reference characteristics becomes important. In this article, we analyze the memory reference traces of deep learning workloads in comparison with traditional workloads specially focusing on read and write operations. Based on our analysis, we observe some unique characteristics of deep learning memory references that are quite different from traditional workloads. First, when comparing instruction and data references, instruction reference accounts for a little portion in deep learning workloads. Second, when comparing read and write, write reference accounts for a majority of memory references, which is also different from traditional workloads. Third, although write references are dominant, it exhibits low reference skewness compared to traditional workloads. Specifically, the skew factor of write references is small compared to traditional workloads. We expect that the analysis performed in this article will be helpful in efficiently designing memory management systems for deep learning workloads.

적외선 검출기를 위한 액체 질소 온도 동작 밴드갭 기준회로의 설계

  • 적외선 소자로부터 생성되는 신호와의 비교에 의한 잡음 특성의 향상, 즉 좋은 영상을 얻기 위해서 적외선 영상신호 취득회로(ROIC)에서는 안정적인 기준 전압원이 필요하다. 본 논문은 극저온인 77K에서 동작하는 적외선 영상신호 취득회로(readout integrated circuit)를 위한 밴드갭 기준회로에 대해서 제안하고 있다. 기본에 발표된 대부분의 밴드갭 기준회로는 실온에서 동작하는 것이며, 액체질소 온도 77K에서 동작하는 적외선 영상 ROIC에는 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 극저온에서 동작하는 밴드갭 기준회로 설계를 위하여, 온도변화에 따른 사용되는 소자들의 parameter에 대한 특성을 살펴본 후, 이러한 특성들을 고려하여 밴드갭 기준 회로를 제안하였으며 이것은 그 실용 가능성을 입증하고 있다.

  • MRAM (Magneto-resistive Random Access Memory)은 자성체의 스핀 방향을 정보원으로 하는 비휘발성 메모리로 magneto-resistance 물질을 정보 저장 소자로 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 MRAM 시뮬레이션시 MTJ (Magnetic Tunneling Junction)의 hysteretic 특성, asteroid 특성, R-V 특성을 HSPICE에서 재현할 수 있는 새로운 macro-model을 제안하고 HSPICE에 적용하여 그 정확도를 검증하였다. 또한 종래의 reference cell 회로에 비하여 정확한 중간 저항 값을 유지하는 새로운 reference cell 회로를 제안하고 이를 본 논문에서 제안한 macro-model을 이용하여 검증하였다.

자연하천에서 하도의 물리적 특성과 하상재료의 상관관계분석 (Analysis of Correlation on Physical Characteristics and Bed Materials in Natural Rivers)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between physical stream characteristics and bed materials in natural rivers. Accordingly, four natural rivers were selected reference streams, they were Nam river, Sumjin River, Naesung River and Han River. Grain size distributions of bed materials were gravels, cobbles and boulders in Han river and Nam river, were sand, gravels, cobbles and boulders in Sumjin river and were sand in Naesung river. Four reference streams were divided into each two reference reaches (straight and bend) by plan and profile characteristics of naturally meandering stream. Therefore various reference reaches were chosen in the aspect of physical stream characteristics and grain size distributions. The results investigated and analyzed are as follows. The streams that grain sizes distributions of river bed materials were coarse were stable because they had variety of bed slope without sediment deposition, and then the riffles frequency and the physical characteristics were various. Also, velocitydepth regime were various in four kinds, and the response parts for water level change were small, so that channel flow status were stable and excellent condition. On the other hand, sand river that grain sizes distributions of river bed materials were fine had not the variety of parameters as velocity-depth regimes, sediment deposition, channel flow status and riffles frequency, so that the physical stream characteristics were not various.
