음식물류 폐기물의 사료화 및 퇴비화 등 자원화 지원정책에 관한 연구 (Study on the Support Policy for Recycling Food Wastes into Feed & Compost)

  • 근래 우리나라에는 음식물류 폐기물 등 유기성 폐기물과 관련하여 두 가지 주요한 정책이 추진되었다 하나는 1995 년에 전면 시행된 폐기물 종량제이고 또 하나는 폐기물관리법에 의한 유기성폐기물의 매립금지 조치이다. 이 두 정책의 시행으로 유기성폐기물의 발생원 감량과 퇴비화 및 사료화 등 재활용 기술의 발전이라는 긍정적인 효과를 거 두고 있으나 다른 한편으로는 법률적, 재활용의 하부구조, 기술적 측면에서 음식물류 폐기물 정책을 추진하는데 걸림돌로 작용하는 잠재된 문제점도 공존하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 음식물류 폐기물 자원화 정책의 문제점을 살펴보고 이에 대한 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다.

왕겨 바이오차 및 음식물쓰레기 바이오차가 밭 사양토에서 상추발아 및 수용성 유기탄소 용출에 미치는 영향 평가 (Evaluating germination of lettuce and soluble organic carbon leachability in upland sandy loam soil applied with rice husk and food waste biochar)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of rice husk (RHB) and food waste biochar (FWB) on upland soil with sandy loam texture, in terms of physico-chemical analysis, lettuce seed germination test, and orgainc carbon leaching experiment. RHB and FWB had different physico-chemical properties each other. Carbon to nitrogen ratio (C/N ratio) of RHB was 32, showing two times higher than that of FWB. FWB had high salt and heavy metal content, compared to RHB. This is probably due to different ingredients and production processing between two biochars each other. Results of germination test with Lettuce showed lower germination rate when FWB was applied because of higher salt concentration compared to control and RHB. Organic carbon leaching test using saturated soil column (${\Phi}75{\times}h75mm$) with $10MT\;ha^{-1}$ biochar application rate, showed higher saturated hydraulic conductivity in rice husk biochar treatment column, compared to control and food waste biochar treatment. The highest total organic carbon concentration in column effluent was lower than those in both of rice husk biochar and food waste biochar, whereas the differences was negligible after 9 pore volumes of effluent. Consequently, biochars from byproducts such as rice husk and food waste in sandy loam textured upland soil could enhance a buffer function such as reduction of leaching from soil, but the harmful ingredient to crops such as high salt and heavy metals could limit the agricultural use of biochars.

Anaerobic Treatment of Food Waste Leachate for Biogas Production Using a Novel Digestion System

  • In this study, the performance of new digestion system (NDS) for the treatment of food waste leachate was evaluated. The food waste leachate was fed intermittently to an anaerobic reactor at increasing steps of 3.3 L/day (hydraulic retention time [HRT] = 30 day), 5 L/day (HRT = 20 day), and finally 10 L/day (HRT = 10 day). In the anaerobic reactor, the pH and alkalinity were maintained at 7.6 to 8.2 and 8,940-14,400 mg/L, respectively. Maximum methane yield determined to be 0.686L $CH_4$/g volatile solids (VS) containing HRT over 20 day. In the digester, 102,328 mg chemical oxygen demand (COD)/L was removed to produce 350 L/day (70% of the total) of biogas, but in the digested sludge reduction (DSR) unit, only 3,471 mg COD/L was removed with a biogas production of 158 L/day. Without adding any chemicals, 25% of total nitrogen (TN) and 31% of total phosphorus (TP) were removed after the DSR, while only 48% of TN and 32% of TP were removed in the nitrogen, phosphorus, and heavy metals (NPHM) removal unit. Total removal of TN was 73% and total removal of TP was 63%.

종량제 가격이 생활폐기물, 음식물쓰레기, 재활용품 수거서비스 수요에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Unit Pricing System on the Demand for Solid Waste Disposal, Food Waste Disposal, and Recyclables)

  • 본 연구에서는 2006-2013년 기간의 생활폐기물 관련 자료를 사용하여 종량제봉투 가격이 각 처리유형별 생활폐기물의 수거서비스 수요에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 생활폐기물 수거서비스 수요에 영향을 미치는 다른 변수들을 통제하고 관찰되지 않는 지역 및 시간적 특성들의 영향을 통제하기 위해 지역 및 시간 고정효과모형으로 각 처리유형별 수거서비스 수요함수를 추정하였다. 추정결과 종량제봉투 가격의 상승은 비탄력적이지만 종량제봉투에 의한 비음식물류 생활폐기물의 수거서비스 수요를 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 종량제봉투 가격의 상승은 음식물쓰레기 배출량을 증가하도록 하고 상대적으로 다른 수거서비스 수요에 비해서 재활용품 배출량의 증가에 강하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 종량제봉투 가격의 상승에 따른 비음식물류 생활폐기물에 대한 수거서비스 수요의 감소는 음식물쓰레기와 재활용품의 분리수거의 증가에 기인하는 것임을 시사한다. 그러나 종량제봉투 가격의 상승이 1인당 총생활폐기물 발생량을 증가시키는 것으로 나타나고 있어 음식물쓰레기 및 재활용품의 분리배출 증가와 잠재적인 불법투기 및 소각을 고려한 피드백 효과로 인해 생활폐기물의 발생을 원천적으로 감소하도록 하기보다는 오히려 증가하도록 하는 결과를 낳고 있는 것으로 보인다.

음폐수 이용 기존 매립지 가스 발생 향상에 따른 온실가스 감축효과 (Greenhouse Gas Reduction Effect of Improvement of Existing Landfill Gas(LFG) Production by Using Food Waste Water)

  • 본 연구에서는 신기후체제 대비를 위한 온실가스 감축 수단으로써 신재생에너지원인 매립가스의 에너지이용 확대를 위해 현장 매립폐기물을 적용하여 음폐수 주입에 따른 메탄가스 생산량 증대 및 이에 따른 온실가스 감축효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 메탄가스 생산량 증대를 위해 주입하는 음폐수는 $35^{\circ}C$, pH 6으로 전처리한 후 사용하였고, 전처리 반응조는 타공성 담체가 고정된 상향류식 고정층 반응기를 이용하였다. 실제 매립폐기물을 이용한 pilot-scale 바이오리액터 운전결과 음폐수 주입시 강우를 활용한 대조군에 비해 6배의 매립가스 증가율을 보였으며, 평균 매립가스 발생량은 $56{\ell}/day/m^3$으로 $1m^3$ 매립지용적에서 연간 약 $20m^3$의 메탄가스가 생산 가능함을 확인하였다. 이를 에너지원으로 활용할 경우 25만 $m^3$ 이상의 중규모 매립지에 적용시 사업성이 확보될 뿐만 아니라 기 등록되어 있는 매립가스 활용 CDM 사업 및 방법론을 기준으로 폐기물 처리용량 25만 $m^3$ 규모의 매립지를 대상으로 온실가스 감축량을 산출한 결과 연간 약 4~5만 톤의 온실가스 감축효과가 있음을 확인하였다.

종합병원 환자 당뇨식의 찬반에 대한 심층적 분석 (The Indepth Analysis of Plate Waste for DM Diet Served in General Hospital)

  • The purpose of this study was to : (a) examine diabetic patients' sensory evaluation and food preferences, (b) analyze the portion sizes & plate wastes, (c) investigate the factors affecting plate wastes, and (d) determine the nutritional & mometary values of the plate wastes. A questionnaire for determining food preference and sensory evaluation was developed. Thirty-three diabetic patients who were hospitalized in Sanggye Paik hospital in Seoul were studied. Serving sizes and plate wastes were weighed by using an electric scale, and the CAN-Pro program was used to evaluate the nutritional value or the food consumed. The data were analyzed using the SAS package program for descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and the Pearson correlation. Using a five-point Likeu-type scale, the temperature s[ore ranged from 3.1 to 3.3 (1 : very poor, 5 : excellent), the preference store was 3.0-3.2 (1 : very dislike, 5:very like), the taste score was 2.9-3.2 (1 : very poor, 5 : excellent), and the amount of food served score was 2.8-3.0 (1 : too little, 5 : too much). Serving sizes were considered insufficient by patients because most of the DM diet was low in calories. Average plate waste for the DM diet was 26.2% of the total served, by weight, and was lower than that for patients consuming a normal diet, which was 30.3%, found in previous research. Those subjects who had been previously hospitalized and who wished to participate in a campaign for food waste reduction produced less plate waste than other groups (p<.05). Plate wastes of the DM diet were negatively correlated with taste, temperature, and preference, and were positively correlated with the amount served: however, these results were not statistically significant. It was found that diabetic patients consumed adequate levels of energy, protein, Ca, Fe, Vitamin B$_1$, Vitamin B$_2$, and niacin, but inadequate levels of Phosphorus, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. The plate wastes were calculated to be 26.2% of the total cost (₩ 3,489), which is ₩9l5. This represents a significant wastage of resources from the hospital. The results of this study could assist foodservice managers in both controlling food wastage, and improving the quality of hospital food services.

The Recognition about Food Wastes Treatment at Yongin Area

  • We conducted to investigate citizen's attitude to the treatment of food waste in Yongin city. The respondent of $41.81\%$ throws the food waste eliminate from home and store less than 1l in Yongin. When they dump the food waste, they speak out the inconvenience of damaged envelope by animals in case of home and store. This caused troubles for reason of sanitary. So a local autonomous entity must carefully consider of expand use specially designed container as like apartment house. They give an answer that the collecting time of food waste is suitable form dawn till morning. This answer shows the satisfaction of the period time to collect the food waste. They prefer to be appointed the exclusive place to collect food waste. The service interval of collect is suitable 1 time a day. They want to increase the number of washing of the collecting container. This is good method for sanitary condition, but the care of the period time to collect the food waste is more efficient than the care of the number of washing the collecting container. The care of the period time minimizes to incur the enmity of the people and to pollute in environment. The major of respondent handled the food waste after keeping the basket or a kit. This fact shows to us almost citizen doesn't feel the seriousness to remove the moisture of the food waste. Recently, many solutions which can be disposal efficiently are getting magnified and improved owing to increase utilities channel to loss in quantities and dry the food waste. We expect the reduction of food waste is solved getting easily step by step. The results of the awareness about the facility of food waste show citizen prefer recycling facility to the other facilities. If recycle facility and incineration facility are constructed, they were worried about bed smell. When some facility of the food waste is constructed, they have to maintain and to handle not to incur the enmity of the people. The spread rate of specially designed container already increased, the citizen set a high value on the use of specially designed container more than amount-rate vinyl envelope that people have used for several years. In the cost treatment about food waste, the major respondent answered the use cost of specially designed container is suitable price. So we can know the use charge is proper level. The majority of citizen more prefer autonomous plan which voluntary atmosphere creation and public information by mass media than levy system and rising treatment cost which forced plan. The citizens have pretty positive thinking of incineration, so the government needs more efforts for a public notice, which includes the incineration is no more than abandoned thing. Each of local self government has to sort the food waste and make kind of resource system related to collecting and carrying, constructing a suitable facility, proper disposal of the food waste and producing harmless in our surrounding in order to solve the invisible problems. To do above mentioned things, we have to analyze referred several problems till now. Also, to minimize the side effect, the government will have to improve through enforce the system.

음식폐기물로부터 유도된 퇴비가 채소류의 발아 및 생육에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Compost Derived from Food Wastes on Germination and Growth of Vegetables)

  • This study was performed to define the physicochemical characteristics of food waste and food wastewater, and to find the effect of salinity variation experiment, the samples of 1, 2, 3 and 4 were prepared by the salinity of 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0% and 2.5%, respectively. In experiment, aerobic composting reactors were operated by the model which was composed of half an hour's stirring and 2 hour's aeration per day, for 45 days. Seeds of vegetables of Chinese cabbage and red pepper were seeded at compost-free control, compost 1, 2, 3 and compost 4 for the sake of investigation of germination rate and growth rate of those. The followings are the conclusions that were derived from this study. 1. In food waste, the moisture content was 60%, organic compound content was 95%, total carbon was 47.5%, total nitrogen was 1.6%(therefore, C/N ratio was 30). The values of pH were 4.0 and 3.8 the values of salinity were 0.9% and 1.2%, and the values of conductivity were 7.8 mS/cm and 18.0 mS/cm, respectively. 2. In salinity experiment, the reduction rate of volume was increased(40%) when the salinity was decreased(1.0%). Also, the reduction rate of mass was increased(52%) when the salinity was decreased(1.0%). This fact denotes that salinity hinders the process of composting. 3. Germination rate and growth rate of Chinese cabbage are more excellent than those of red pepper(97.14%, 5.2:2.5 cm). 4. In Chinese cabbage, germination rate and growth rate at compost with the lowest salinity are more excellent than those at compost-free control(97:94%, 5.2:4.5 cm).

이물질 구별을 통한 음식물쓰레기 배출시스템 개선에 관한 연구 (A study on the Improvement of the Food Waste Discharge System through the Classification on Foreign Substances)

  • 산업화의 발전으로 음식물 및 쓰레기 배출량이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 이에 정부도 심각성을 인지하고 이를 줄이고자 다방면으로 노력을 하고 있다. 그 일환으로 음식물 종량제을 도입을 하였고 도입 초기 여러 시행착오가 있었지만 20 ~ 30%의 감량 효과를 보여주고 있다. 이러한 실적은 음식물 종량제가 정착이 되고 있음을 암시하고 있다.하지만 1차 수거에서 2차 수거과정을 통해 집하장으로 모여서 자원 순환을 과정에서 이물질로 인한 폐해가 발생하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 근본적으로 해결하고자 인공지능을 적용하여 개선하고자 한다. 음식물쓰레기 특성상 많은 이미지를 구하는데는 한계가 있어 CNN을 기반으로 한 여러 모델을 비교하여 이를 이상 데이터 분류 즉, CNN 기반 모델들에 여러 유형의 이물질에 대한 학습을 시킨 후 그 중 정확도가 놓은 모델을 적용하여 설비 보호와 이물질 구분을 위해 투입되는 인력 등 유지보수에 대한 개선책을 마련하고자 한다.

투입구 기능 개선을 통한 음식물쓰레기종량제 활성화 방안에 관한 연구 (A study on the Activation Methods of Food Volume Meter by improving the Inlet Function)

  • 정부의 배출자 부담 원칙에 따라 배출량에 비례하여 수수료를 차등 부과하는 RFID 기반 음식물류폐기물 종량제가 2012년 전면 시행되었다. 2018년말 기준 전국 149개 지자체, 공동주택 아파트를 기준으로 약 40%의 보급률을 보이고 있다. 장비 도입으로 약 20~30%의 감량 효과가 나타났다. 이와 더불어 기존 장비들에 대한 문제점도 나타나기 시작하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 투입구의 근본적인 문제점의 해결책으로 기존에 나와 있는 기술들을 응용하고 통합하여 개선하고자 하였다. 즉, 음식물쓰레기 종량기 내부의 음식물쓰레기통 안쪽으로 호퍼를 깊숙이 들어가도록 설계를 변경하여 음식물쓰레기가 만수가 되어 수거통 교체 시 원활하도록 고안하여 음식물쓰레기종량기 주변 환경을 개선하고자 한다.
