We report dimension-reduced and photon-induced quantum rings naturally formed in a vertical-cavity-like active microdisk plane due to Rayleigh's band of whispering gallery modes. The √T- dependent redshift, microampere-range threshold currents, λ/2 lightwave ordering, and chaotic properties are also discussed.
Let R be an associative ring. We define a subset $S_R$ of R as $S_R=\{a{\in}R{\mid}aRa=(0)\}$ and call it the source of semiprimeness of R. We first examine some basic properties of the subset $S_R$ in any ring R, and then define the notions such as R being a ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-reduced ring, a ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-domain and a ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-division ring which are slight generalizations of their classical versions. Beside others, we for instance prove that a finite ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-domain is necessarily unitary, and is in fact a ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-division ring. However, we provide an example showing that a finite ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-division ring does not need to be commutative. All possible values for characteristics of unitary ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-reduced rings and ${\mid}S_R{\mid}$-domains are also determined.
In this note we are concerned with relationships between one-sided ideals and two-sided ideals, and study the properties of polynomial rings whose maximal one-sided ideals are two-sided, in the viewpoint of the Nullstellensatz on noncommutative rings. Let R be a ring and R[x] be the polynomial ring over R with x the indeterminate. We show that eRe is right quasi-duo for $0{\neq}e^2=e{\in}R$ if R is right quasi-duo; R/J(R) is commutative with J(R) the Jacobson radical of R if R[$\chi$] is right quasi-duo, from which we may characterize polynomial rings whose maximal one-sided ideals are two-sided; if R[x] is right quasi-duo then the Jacobson radical of R[x] is N(R)[x] and so the $K\ddot{o}the's$ conjecture (i.e., the upper nilradical contains every nil left ideal) holds, where N(R) is the set of all nilpotent elements in R. Next we prove that if the polynomial rins R[x], over a reduced ring R with $\mid$X$\mid$$\geq$ 2, is right quasi-duo, then R is commutative. Several counterexamples are included for the situations that occur naturally in the process of this note.
An ideal of a commutative ring is called a d-ideal if it contains the annihilator of the annihilator of each of its elements. Denote by DId(A) the lattice of d-ideals of a ring A. We prove that, as in the case of f-rings, DId(A) is an algebraic frame. Call a ring homomorphism "compatible" if it maps equally annihilated elements in its domain to equally annihilated elements in the codomain. Denote by $SdRng_c$ the category whose objects are rings in which the sum of two d-ideals is a d-ideal, and whose morphisms are compatible ring homomorphisms. We show that $DId:\;SdRng_c{\rightarrow}CohFrm$ is a functor (CohFrm is the category of coherent frames with coherent maps), and we construct a natural transformation $RId{\rightarrow}DId$, in a most natural way, where RId is the functor that sends a ring to its frame of radical ideals. We prove that a ring A is a Baer ring if and only if it belongs to the category $SdRng_c$ and DId(A) is isomorphic to the frame of ideals of the Boolean algebra of idempotents of A. We end by showing that the category $SdRng_c$ has finite products.
A damage detection algorithm using vibration modes is applied to the ring structures and the modal behaviors of the slightly asymmetric rings are examined. Mode shape change, MSER(modal strain energy ratio) and MCR(modal curvature ratio) are investigated to identify the locations of faults or damages The above fault detection parameters are calculated and compared by the finite element analysis on rings with designed local damages. Damages are modeled as a reduced stiffness in the analysis The results show that MSER and MCR can be proper parameters to detect local damages in the ring structures.
In order to investigate the pharmacological properties of ι-muscone, effects of ι-muscone and musk were studied on the cardiovascular system with various experimental models. In isolated rat aorta, ι-muscone and musk made the relaxation of blood vessels in maximum contractile response to phenylephrine (10$^{-6}$ M) in endothelium-containing rings of the rat aorta, but not in endothelium-denuded rings. However, ι-muscone and musk in the presence of the inhibitor of NO synthase and guanylate cyclase did not make the relaxation of blood vessels. In spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs), ι-muscone and musk slightly reduced blood pressure but significantly decreased heart rate. In the isolated perfused rat hearts, ι-muscone and musk did not affect significantly on LVDP, contractile force, coronary flow and (-dp/dt)/(+dp/dt). These results suggest that ι-muscone and musk have weak cardiovascular effects with relaxation of blood vessel and decrease of heart rate, but without significant cardiac functions.
This article continues the study of right 𝜋-duo rings, concentrating on the situation of nonzero powers. For this purpose we introduce the concept of strongly right 𝜋-duo and examine the structure of strongly right 𝜋-duo in relation to various ring properties that play important roles in ring theory. It is proved for a strongly right 𝜋-duo ring R that if the upper (lower) nilradical of R is zero then R is reduced. Various kinds of examples are examined in relation to the questions raised in the procedure.
When the hollow cylinder structure moves in underwater with high speed structural can be propagated from the end of the structure to the front side. This noise can reduce the sensitivity of the conformal array which installed in the surface of the cylinder. To reduce this noise propagation it is suggested to install two self-reduction rings at the surrounding of the cylinder which is 500mm in diameter and 840mm in length. The places of the two noise reduction rings are 120mm and 240mm point from the end of the structure. Two noise reduction rings reduced 10.1 % of maximum stress. When outside noise frequency applied to the structure from the 4kZ to 6kHz, 20dB noise reduction was calculated using 6 order polynomial equation. When outside noise frequency also applied to the structure with 200Hz, 500Hz, 900Hz, maximum sound pressure level point moved to the end of the structure. Most conformal sensors are fabricated at the front side of the structure. Based on the simulation results proposed two rings can be reduced noise propagation from the tail of the structure effectively.

A comparison was made of the effects of selective ${\alpha_1}-adrenoceptor$ agonist phenylephrine and selective ${\alpha_2}-adrenoceptor$ agonist clonidine on endothelium-containing and endothelium-denuded rings of the rat aorta. In the case of phenylephrine, removal of endothelium increased sensitivity 2.5 fold at $EC_{50}$ level and maximum contractive response 1.4 fold. In the case of clonidine, which gave only 15% of maximum contractive response given to phenylephrine on endothelium-containing rings, removal of the endothelium increased sensitivity 5.6 fold at $EC_{50}$ level and maximum contractive response 5 fold, which was about 55% of that given by phenylephrine. In endothelium-denuded ring, phenylephrine-induced contraction tended to be more increased in tonic contraction than in phasic contraction as compared to that in endothelium-containing ring, while clonidine-induced contraction was monophasic and was increased only in tonic contraction. In the calcium-free solution or in the presence, of verapamil, contraction stimulated by clonidine was almost abolished while that stimulated by phenylephrine produced only phasic contraction. The depression of sensitivity to these agonists in rings with endothelium appeared to be due to the vasodepressor action of endothelium derived relaxing factor (EDRF), because hemoglobin, a specific blocking agent of EDRF, abolished this depression. It is unlikely that the endothelium-dependent relaxation was due to stimulation of release of EDRF, because clonidine did not produce endothelium-dependent relaxation in 5-hydroxytryptamine-precontracted ring even when its contractile action was blocked by the ${\alpha_1}-adrenoceptor$ antagonist, prazosin. When the efficacy of phenylephrine was reduced to about the initial efficacy of clonidine by pretreatment with dibenamine, the contraction-response curves for phenylephrine became very similar to the corresponding curves obtained for clonidine before receptor inactivation. In the dibenamine-treated rings, contraction of phenylephrine was abolished in calcium-free solution or in the presence of verapamil like that obtained for clonidine before receptor inactivation. These results suggest that EDRF spontaneously released from endothelium depress contraction more profoundly in a case of an agonist with low efficacy and the phenylephrine-induced contraction was totally dependent on extracellular calcium as was that obtained for clonidine when the efficacy of phenylephrine was reduced to that of clonidine by irreversible inactivation of ${\alpha_1}-adrenoceptor$ with dibenamine.

The objective of this study was to investigate reductive dechlorination of aromatic hydrocarbons using zero valent metals (ZVMs) and catalysts as reactive materials for permeable reactive barriers (PRBs). A group of small aromatic hydrocarbons such as monochlorophenols, phenol, benzene were readily reduced with palladium catalyst and zero valent iron. Poly-aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were also tested with the catalysts and zero valent metal combinations. The aromatic rings were reduced and partly reduced PAHs were found as the daughter compounds. Current preliminary study implicate that ZVMs and modified catalysts can be successfully applied for PRBs which currently applicable for halogenated organic compounds and some inorganic contaminants including chromium(Ⅵ) and nitrate.
