In this study sol-gel and combustion process was surveyed for the preparation of the red $Y_2O_3$: Eu phosphor, and the properties of phosphor was considered. Chelation and hydrolysis in amorphous citrate sol-gel process were completed in initial reaction stage, and water-forming condensation was superior to organic acid-forming condensation. The mole ratio of citric acid to metal ion had to be above to for the progress of sol-gel process. The dried gel powders are mostly amorphous, and crystallize completely at $700^{\circ}C$, and the crystallinity increases with increasing calcining temperature. The luminescence property of the phosphor was analyzed by measuring the emission spectra. The luminescence intensity increases when the calcination temperature and concentration of metal ions in solution increase.

In this study, we fabricated high quality color conversion component with green/red phosphor and low melting glass frit. The color conversion component was prepared by placing the green and red phosphor layer on slide glass via screen printing process. The properties of color conversion component could be controlled by changing coating sequence, layer thickness and heat treatment temperature. We discovered that optical properties of color conversion component were generally determined by the lowest layer. On the other hand, the heat treatment temperature also affected to correlated color temperature (CCT) and color rending index (CRI). The color conversion component with a green (lower) - red (upper) layer which was sintered at $550^{\circ}C$ showed the best optical properties: CCT, CRI and luminance efficacy were 3340 K, 78, and 56.5 lm/w, respectively.

Perylene bisimide derivatives are developed for red organic phosphor because of their advantages, such as excellent luminous efficiency and high thermal stability. Despite these advantages, they have poor solubility characteristics in organic solvents and short emission wavelength as red organic phosphor for hybrid light-emitting diodes (LEDs). In this study, we prepared terrylene bisimide using a coupling reaction and swallow-tail imide group, which has excellent solubility. The structures and properties of swallow-tail terrylene bisimide (9C) were analyzed using 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), UV/Vis spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The maximum absorption wavelength of (9C) in the UV/Vis spectrum was 647 nm, and the maximum emission wavelength was 676 nm. In the TGA, (9C) demonstrated good thermal stability with less than 5 wt% weight loss up to 415℃. In the solubility test, (9C) has a good solubility of more than 5 wt% in chloroform and dichloromethane. When the compounds (9C) were mixed with PMMA (polymethly methacrylate), the films showed peaks at 680 nm in the PL spectra. The results verify the suitability of (9C) as a red organic phosphor for hybrid LEDs.
Red-orange phosphors $Gd_{1-x}PO_4:{Eu_x}^{3+}$ (x = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20) were synthesized with changing the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ions using a solid-state reaction method. The crystal structures, surface morphology, and optical properties of the ceramic phosphors were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and photoluminescence (PL) spectrophotometry. The XRD results were in accordance with JCPDS (32-0386), and the crystal structures of all the red-orange phosphors were found to be a monoclinic system. The SEM results showed that the size of grains increases and then decreases as the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ionincreases. As for the PL properties, all of the ceramic phosphors, irrespective of $Eu^{3+}$ ion concentration, had orange and red emissions peaks at 594 nm and 613 nm, respectively. The maximum excitation and emission spectra were observed at 0.10 mol of $Eu^{3+}$ ion concentration, just like the grain size. An orange color stronger than the red means that $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_1$ (magnetic dipole transition) is dominant over the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$ (electric dipole transition), and $Eu^{3+}$ is located at the center of the inversion symmetry. These properties contrasted with those of a red phosphor $Y_{1-x}PO_4:{Eu_x}^{3+}$, which has a tetragonal system. Therefore, we confirm that the crystal structure of the host material has a major effect on the resulting color.

To fabricate white LED having a high color rendering index value, red color phosphor mixed with the green color phosphor together in the blue chip, namely the blue chips with RG phosphors packaging is most favorable for high power white LEDs. In our previous papers, we reported on successful syntheses of $Sr_{2-}$$Si_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ and $CaAlSiN_3$ phosphors for red phosphor. In this work, for high power green phosphor, greenemitting ternary nitride $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor was synthesized in a high frequency induction furnace under $N_2$ gas atmosphere at temperatures up to $1400^{\circ}C$ using $EuF_3$ as a raw material for $Eu^{2+}$ dopant. The effects of molar ratio of component and experimental conditions on luminescence property of prepared phosphors have been investigated. The structure and luminescence properties of prepared $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors were investigated by XRD and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The excitation spectra of $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors indicated broad excitation wavelength range of 250 - 500 nm, namely from UV to blue region with distinct enhanced emission spectrum peaking at ${\approx}530nm$.
Nanosized $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ red phosphor is prepared using a template method from metal salt impregnated into a crystalline cellulose and is dispersed using a bead mill wet process. The driving force of the surface coating between $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ and mica is induced by the Coulomb force. The red phosphor nanosol is effectively coated on mica flakes by the electrostatic interaction between positively charged $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ and negatively charged mica above pH 6. To prepare $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$-coated mica ($Gd_2O_3:Eu/mica$), the coating conditions are optimized, including the stirring temperature, pH, calcination temperature, and coating amount (wt%) of $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$. In spite of the low luminescence of the $Gd_2O_3:Eu/mica$, the luminescent property is recovered after calcination above $600^{\circ}C$ and is enhanced by increasing the $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ coating amount. The $Gd_2O_3:Eu/mica$ is characterized using X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, zeta potential measurements, and fluorescence spectrometer analysis.
The structural and optical properties on $Bi^{3+}$ addition in (Y,Gd)(V,P)$O_4:Eu^{3+}$ red phosphor were investigated. With the addition of $Bi^{3+}$, the band edge in excitation spectrum shifts toward longer wavelength region, resulting in remarkable enhancement of the red emission intensity at 619 nm.
Because the plasma display panel has used red, green and blue(RGB) phosphors, it has suffer from two intrinsic problems; 1) the cell defect due to the lack of binding force between phosphor particles and 2) mis-discharge because of difference of electrical characteristics among RGB phosphors. In order to control the mechanical and electrical properties of RGB phosphors, frit with $ZnOB_2O_3-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ system was added to RGB phosphor as sintering additive. The mechanical properties were increased by the amount of frit. The amount of frit under 5 wt% rarely affected dielectric constant. However, there was the limit of amount because of decreasing optical properties seriously; over 3 wt% in red, over 10 wt% in green and blue.
CaTiO₃:Pr phosphor thin films were prepared on Si(100), ZnO/glass, Corning glass and ITO/glass by rf magnetron reactive sputtering. The effects of deposition parameters such as oxygen partial pressure, substrate temperature, and annealing conditions on crystallinity and compositional variation of the films were investigated. PL spectra of CaTiO₃:Pr phosphor thin films exhibited red regime peaking at 613 nm and enhanced PL intensity was observed for the film annealed in vacuum atmosphere as compared to the deposit annealed in N₂ environment.
