국내 자동차 폐촉매의 발생 및 재활용 현황 (A Review on Recycling of Spent Autocatalyst in Korea)

  • 백금족 귀금속이 함유된 자동차 폐촉매는 경제적 가치 및 귀금속 확보 측면에서 재활용의 중요성이 매우 높은 순환자원 이다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 발생하고 있는 자동차 폐촉매의 재활용과 관련된 정책수립 및 기술개발의 효율적 추진을 위하여 자동차 폐촉매 발생량, 유통현황, 재활용 기술 및 재활용 산업 현황을 조사하였다. 자동차 폐촉매 발생량은 자동차 등록 및 폐차 통계와 신차(新車)에 대한 촉매 장착 이력 등을 분석하여 추정하였다. 재활용 기술 및 산업 현황은 국내 최대 자동차 폐촉매 재활용 기업인 (주)희성피엠텍의 재활용 공정 및 현황을 중심으로 조사하였다. 더불어 자동차 폐촉매 재활용 산업의 활성화를 위한 제도적 개선 방안도 제시하였다.

재활용기업의 처리공정에 따른 경제성 분석: 폐합성수지 산업을 중심으로 (Process Choice and Firm Performance in the Recycling Industry: An Empirical Investigation of Plastic Recycling Firms in Korea)

  • As the scarcity of natural resources has become apparent, the recycling industry has emerged as a promising one for its growth potential. Yet, the recycling industry still remains undeveloped and inefficient for various reasons. In this study, we focus on firms' recycling processes to understand the current status of recycling firms' value creation activities. With respect to the adopted recycling processes, we empirically investigate the differences in firm characteristics and firm performance. We use the data from Keco (Korea Environment Cooperation) which annually conducts a survey of recycling firms in Korea. We exclusively consider the whole group of plastic recycling industry in order to control for a possible bias in firm performance, stemming from the heterogeneity in processing and recycling of materials other than plastics. We review the descriptive statistics from the sample firms and conduct a series of hierarchical regression analyses. The results show that most of the firms in this industry adopt physical transformation processes with a low-level technology. These firms with physical transformation processes are smaller in size and produce entry level items which do not secure higher margins. The results indicate that the recycling industry largely comprises low value added firms which lack economies of scale and resources for R&D. For the stable growth of the industry, recycling firms must create sustainable values through implementation of technology-driven processes and improvement in product quality. In addition, the government should help build a reliable reverse logistic network, lower the entry barriers, and provide necessary funding for the SMEs in the recycling industry.

교복 재활용 필요성과 교복 재활용 교육을 위한 교과과정 분석 (An Analysis of the Curriculum for School Uniform Recycling Education and the Need for School Uniform Recycling)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the need for school uniform recycling and to review the school uniform recycling-related education. 231 female high school students were asked to answer regarding the wearing state of school uniform and their satisfaction level. 10 subjects in middle school technology/home economy were evaluated. As the result, the students wore 1~2 pieces of school uniform, which showed that it was hard to keep them clean by washing them often. The satisfaction level of school uniform was not high, The lowest item was the price. Therefore, to increase the satisfaction level of the school uniforms and also to increase the sanitary level of the school uniforms, it was advisable to purchase a recycled school uniform at cheaper prices to have an extra set. For a vitalization of the recycled school uniforms, the middle school technology/home economy subjects were reviewed. In the topic of "clothing acquisition plan and purchase", the themes of planned purchase, overconsumption of clothing and environmental pollution were discussed and included preferable behaviors for disposal. The topic of "clothing manufacturing and recycling" listed recycling the clothes that are not worn or exchanging them with neighbors as well as suggesting methods to illicit environment-friendly behaviors and carrying them out. However, some textbooks only briefly explained the methods of recycling and more detailed and practical methods need to be suggested in the curriculum. In addition, the contents regarding the environment in the clothing topic need to be supplemented more and more changes, such as related education plans or data development, are required.   • 폐전자제품의 증가로 인해 재활용의 중요성이 대두되었으며, 그 중 폐소형가전제품은 다양한 품목과 구성품으로 인해 재활용이 어려운 실정이다. 폐소형가전제품에 함유되어 있는 주요금속은 철, 구리, 알루미늄이며, 그 외에 PCBs, 플라스틱 등 다양한 구성품으로 이루어져 있다. 국내외에서 폐전자제품에 대한 재활용 규제가 시행되고 있지만 폐소형가전제품의 재활용 기술은 그 규제를 따라가지 못하는 실정이다. 폐소형가전제품의 재활용 공정은 아직 제대로 보급화 되지 않았으며, 개발이 된다면 국가 기술경쟁력(자원재활용률 등)이 증가할 뿐만 아니라, 자원비축, 환경문제 해결 및 경제성 확보 등 많은 긍정적 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 폐소형가전제품의 재자원화 가치와 국내외 기술현황 분석을 통하여 재활용공정 제언 및 앞으로 나가야할 방향을 살펴보고자 한다.

국내(國內) 마그네슘 리싸이클링 현황(現況) (Current Status on the Domestic Recycling of Magnesium)

  • 마그네슘은 최근 자동차 부품, 전자기기 케이스 등으로 사용량이 증가하고 있는데, 아직까지는 마그네슘 부품소재의 사용 수명이 다 되어 발생된 폐기물은 많지 않고, 다이캐스팅 공정 중에서 발생되는 스크랩이 대부분 재활용되며 용해과정에서 드로스(dross)와 슬러지(sludge) 및 기계 가공에서 발생하는 절삭칩 등도 일부 재활용되고 있다. 본 고에서는 최근 몇 년간의 국내 마그네슘의 수요, 생산현황 등 일반 현황을 먼저 살펴보고, 스크랩 발생량과 리싸이클링 현황 및 국내업체의 처리기술들을 조사하였다. 2010년에 국내에서 8,840톤의 마그네슘스크랩을 처리하였으며, 마그네슘 금속 재활용률은 32.5%로 추산되고, 재생마그네슘은 대부분 마그네슘 부품 다이캐스팅용으로 사용되었다.

  • In the last year, the number of registered vehicles in Korea surpassed the 15 million mark, and increase in number continuously. Nowdays, this tendency has raised some problems inevitably in the view of expansion of ELV(End of Life Vehicles) and earth environment pollution resulted from it. A foreign country is strengthening law about a car recycling for to solve this problem. Car recycling technology in Japan was introduced in this paper.

국내 폐 기저귀 재활용의 경제적, 기술적 타당성 분석 (Economic and Technological Feasibility Study on Pre- and Post-Consumer Recycling of Disposable Diaper in Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내외 자료를 광범위하게 분석하여 기저귀 재활용의 사업화 타당성을 조사하였다. 네덜란드의 Knowaste사는 사용후 기저귀에 포함되어 있는 펄프와 합성수지를 분리하여 펄프와 플라스틱, 고분자 흡수물질 (Super Absorbing Polymer: SAP)로 분리하는 재활용 기술로 사업을 하고 있다. 반면 국내에서 사업화가 진행되고 있는 기술은 사용전 기저귀 공정 스크랩중의 펄프와 합성수지, SAP 등이 혼합된 상태로 고형연료, 컨테이너 적재용 보드, 자동차 시트 등의 제품을 생산하는 재활용에 국한되어 있다. 국내의 사용후 기저귀 재활용 경제성 분석에 관한 선행 연구 결과는 서로 상반되는 결론을 내고 있지만 본 연구에서는 사용전 기저귀 폐기물은 상당한 경제적 타당성을 확보하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 사용전 기저귀를 포함한 폐기저귀 재활용 기술 개발과 정책적 지원을 통하여 '지속가능한 사회 구축'에 한발 더 근접할 수 있을 것이다.

Pilot Study on the Manufacture of Kraft Paper from OCC

  • In order to determine the most appropriate recycling line to treat old corrugated container (OCC) to substitute unbleached kraft pulp (UKP) for the manufacture of kraft paper, three recycling lines were evaluated in pilot scale tests. The recycling line consisting of kneading, flotation, washing, dispersion and screening steps was able to produce pulp with acceptable appearance. Kneading was shown to be more efficient treatment to reduce specks than dispersion. In addition, 0.2 mm slot screen was very effective to remove specks. Severe damages on fiber morphology such as shortening of fiber and formation of fines were not observed during mechanical treatments such as kneading and dispersion. Most of strength properties of the kraft paper produced with the recycled pulp were found to be slightly increased after treated in the recycling lines.

The Effects of Multiple Recycling on Deinkability, Optical and Physical Properties of Recycled Paper

  • This study examined the effects of multiple recycling on deinkability and properties of recycled paper from laser computer printout(LCPO). First, alkaline paper with a 20% printed area was disintegrated by TAPPI standard disintegrator. After dewatering , the pulp was followed by flotation, handsheet making, and drying at room temperature, in order. A sequence of printing , disintegrating, flotating , handsheet making and drying was one recycling cycle and this cyclic treatment was repeateed from zero to five times. The residual ink content in recycled handsheets by SEM-EDXA and Py-GC analyseswas increased slightly as recycling number increase. After five cycles of recycling the ISO brightness of recycled handsheets dropped to about 90% of the original brightness. However, it had a gain of 10% in opacity. The most of physical properties of recycled handsheets were decreased as recycling numbers increase except of for tear strength.

  • This study deals with the technological trends in the automobile recycling technologies. It first discusses the importance and current situation of automobile recycling. And then it discusses the technological trends in automobile recycling industry classifying the technologies into three groups: disassemblying, recycling, and design. It deals with recycling of major parts of automobiles and the design of automobile for recyclability. This study also contains a patent analysis of the technologies. Different patterns in the trend of patents among various conn-tries are discussed with the context of legal and industrial situation of each country And finally it discusses the forecasting for the future technological and legislative trends.
