Experimental study on partially concrete-filled steel tubular columns

  • The results of tests conducted on 11 concrete-filled steel tubular columns were reported. Concrete was partially filled in circular steel tubular columns. The primary test parameters were radius and thickness of steel tubes, concrete height, loading patterns and attachment of diaphragm and studs. Concrete strain was measured directly by embedding strain gauges so that the effect of diaphragm on concrete confinement could be investigated. The effects of concrete height and diaphragm on ultimate strength and ductility of steel tubes were investigated. The comparisons of the test results with the existing results for rectangular cross-sections were made on the basis of ultimate strength and ductility of concrete-filled steel tubular columns.

Buckling analysis of linearly tapered micro-columns based on strain gradient elasticity

  • The buckling problem of linearly tapered micro-columns is investigated on the basis of modified strain gradient elasticity theory. Bernoulli-Euler beam theory is used to model the non-uniform micro column. Rayleigh-Ritz solution method is utilized to obtain the critical buckling loads of the tapered cantilever micro-columns for different taper ratios. Some comparative results for the cases of rectangular and circular cross-sections are presented in graphical and tabular form to show the differences between the results obtained by modified strain gradient elasticity theory and those achieved by modified couple stress and classical theories. From the results, it is observed that the differences between critical buckling loads achieved by classical and those predicted by non-classical theories are considerable for smaller values of the ratio of the micro-column thickness (or diameter) at its bottom end to the additional material length scale parameters and the differences also increase due to increasing of the taper ratio.

충돌분류시스템의 열전달 특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics in Impinging Air Jet System)

  • Heat transfer characteristics for an air jet vertically impinging on a flat plate with a set of hybrid rods was investigated numerically using the RNG k-$\varepsilon$turbulent model. A commercial finite-volume code FLUENT is used. The rods had cross sections of half circular and rectangular shapes. The heating surface was heated with a constant heat flux value of $1020W/m^2$. Parameters investigated were the jet Reynolds number, nozzle -to-plate spacing, the rod pitch and rod-to-plate clearance. The local and average Nusselt number were found to be dependent on the rod pitch and the clearance because installing rods disturbed the flow. Higher convective heat transfer rate occurred in the whole plate as well as in the wall jet region.

평행링크형 발가락을 갖는 4족 보행로봇 발의 비평탄 지면 착지 성능 (Landing Performance of a Quadruped Robot Foot Having Parallel Linked Toes on Uneven Surface)

  • In this study, a robot foot having toes for firm stepping on uneven surface is proposed. The toes are connected to the lower leg by parallel links so that the lower leg can rotate in the rolling and pitching directions during stance phase without ankle joint. The landing performance of the foot on uneven surface was evaluated by relative comparison with that of the most common foot making point contact with the walking surface, since the test conditions considering real uneven surface could be hardly defined for its objective evaluation. Anti-slip margin(ASM) was defined in this study to express the slip resistance of a robot foot when it lands on a projection with half circular-, triangular- or rectangular cross section, assuming that uneven surface consists of projections having these kind of cross sections in different sizes. Based on the ASM analysis, the slip conditions for the two feet were experimentally confirmed. The results showed that the slip resistance of the new foot is not only higher than that of the conventional point contact type foot but also less sensitive to the surface friction coefficient.

단면의 형상에 따른 철근콘크리트 기둥의 폭발저항 성능 평가 (An Evaluation of Blast Resistance Performance of RC Columns According to the Shape of Cross Section)

  • 현재 연쇄붕괴를 방지하기 위한 설계 방법으로 기둥제거 시나리오를 이용한 대체하중경로법을 주로 적용하고 있다. 하지만 실제로 폭발이 발생하여 기둥이 완전히 제거되지 않는 경우에 기둥제거 시나리오를 적용하면 보수적인 결과를 얻게 된다. 본 논문에서는 단일 기둥이 폭발하중을 받을 때의 거동을 평가함으로써 폭발이후에도 기둥이 연쇄붕괴 방지에 기여할 수 있는지 여부를 판단하였다. 하이드로코드인 AUTODYN을 이용하였으며, 같은 단면적과 높이를 갖는 사각형 기둥과 원형 기둥의 폭발저항성능을 비교하였다. 우선 AUTODYN을 이용한 폭발하중 산정 결과를 폭발실험값과 비교한 다음 간단한 폭발 예제를 통해 계산된 폭발압력파가 실제와 유사함을 입증하였다. 단면 형상에 따른 기둥의 폭발저항 성능 해석을 수행한 후 잔류변형을 이용한 평가법을 이용해 원형기둥이 사각형 기둥보다 폭발저항 성능이 더 우수함을 확인하였다.

이종 접합재의 굽힘 및 인장강도에 미치는 시험편 형상의 효과 (Effect of Specimen Geometry on Bending and Tensile Strength of Material Used in Dissimilar Joints)

  • 이종 접합재($\beta-Si_3N_4/S45C$)의 굽힘강도와 인장강도에 미치는 시험편 형상의 영향을 정량적으로 평가하였다. 평균 굽힘강도와 평균 인장강도는 원형단면 시험편이 4각형 단면 시험편보다 약간 높았다. 또한, 초음파(AE)를 이용하여 균열발생응력을 성공적으로 측정할 수 있었으며, 균열발생응력은 굽힘강도의 60~80% 이었다. 아울러, 세라믹측 접합계면 근처의 잔류응력 측정을 굽힘강도 시험전에 X선 회절법에 의해 실시하였으며, 굽힘강도와 균열발생응력은 잔류응력 증가와 더불어 감소하였다. 마지막으로 인장시험에서 굽힘변형률 성분의 영향을 평가하였으며, 인장강도는 굽힘변형률 성분의 증가와 더불어 감소하고 굽힘강도의 약 80%에 해당되었다.

인쇄기판형열교환기 핵심치수 구조설계 (Structural Design for Key Dimensions of Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger)

  • The mechanical design procedure is studied for the PCHE(printed circuit heat exchanger) with electrochemical etched flow channels. The effective heat transfer plates of PCHE are assembled by diffusion bonding to make a module. PCHE is widely used for industrial applications due to its compactness, cost efficiency, and serviceability at high pressure and/or temperature conditions. The limitations and technical barriers of PCHE are investigated for application to nuclear components. Rules for design and fabrication of PCHE are specified in ASME Section VIII but not in ASME Section III of nuclear components. Therefore, the calculation procedure of key dimensions of PCHE is defined based on ASME section VIII. The effective heat transfer region of PCHE is defined by several key dimensions such as the flow channel radius, edge width, wall thickness, and ridge width. The mechanical design procedure of key dimensions was incorporated into a program for easy use in the PCHE design. The effect of assumptions used in the key dimension calculation on stress values is numerically investigated. A comparative analysis is done by comparing finite element analysis results for the semi-circular flow channels with the formula based sizing calculation assuming rectangular cross sections.

CFT기둥에서 강관과 콘크리트 부착응럭의 해석기법 개선에 관한 연구 (A study on improved analytic method for the bond stress between concrete and steel tube in CFT column)

  • 건축물의 고층화, 대형화에 따라 기둥이 부담해야할 하중이 증대되고, 이로 인한 기둥단면적의 증대에 효율적으로 대처하기 위해 CFT(콘크리트 충전강관)기둥의 형식을 개발하게 되었다. CFT기둥은 이질재료로 구성된 복합구조형식으로, 역학적 거동을 규명하기 위해 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구는 원형과 각형의 CFT기둥에 있어서 콘크리트 코어와 강관, 두 이질재료간의 접촉면 부착응력에 대한 해석적 연구로서 비선형 해석프로그램인 ABAQUS/Standard Version 5.8을 이용하여 shear-connector의 부착형태 및 위치에 따른 부착응력을 비교하고, 접촉면의 역학적 특성에 대한 개선된 해석기법을 제시하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, the wave run.up on a vertical cylinder is presented. Various cross sections of a cylinder were simulated using the panel method for various wave periods. Two.dimensional model tests were performed in a wave flume. The simulation results are compared with the test results. The simulation is based on the linear diffraction theory.

  • 초음파 탐촉자로부터 방사된 음장을 모델링하는 것은 초음파 측정 모델을 구성하는 첫 번째 단계이며, 그 정확도를 결정짓는 핵심 요소이기 때문에 지금까지 다양한 연구가 진행되었다. 본 논문에서는 지금까지 제안된 다양한 기법 중에서 현재 널리 사용되고 있는 Rayleigh-Sommerfeld 적분 모델, 경계회절파모델(boundary diffraction wave model), 가장자리요소모델(edge element model)에 대해 간략하게 논의하고, 이 세가지 모델을 적용하여 평면 원형 및 사각형 초음파 탐촉자의 방사 음장을 계산하고, 각 기법의 정확성과 계산 효율을 비교하였다.
