The program consisted of dancing on music for approximately 50 minutes, 3 times a week for 10 weeks. Experimental data were analyzed with $x^2-test$, t-test, mean values, standard deviation, percentage of change and paired t-test using SAS program. After the recreation dance, the mean value of the experimental group was decreased from 7.62 to 7.44 (t=-0.258, P=0.799), and that of the control group was also decreased from 7.00 to 6.58 (t=-0.971, P=0.349) in depression. However, there were no statistically significant differences in scores of depression between two groups. In life satisfaction, the mean value of the experimental group was increased from 19.07 to 26.50 (t=2.392, P=0.030), but that of the control group was decreased from 15.92 to 13.71 (t=-1.060, P=0.305). Thus it shows that there was a statistically significant improvement on life satisfaction after the recreation dance.

  • We conducted this study to analyze the effectiveness of a treatment called 12-week therapeutic recreation dance movement (TRDM) to elderly people in terms of health care and recovery. Forty two elderly people were participated in this study and divided into two groups with healthy (twelve) and unhealthy (thirty). After TRDM treatment, the muscular power was increased in both groups without statistical significance within and between groups. The flexibility, agility and balance were slightly increased in both groups. Although the elevation of muscular endurance was not significant between groups, it was statistically meaningful within groups. The results of body composition comparison did not reveal meaningful difference within and between groups. However, the amount of fat in serum and fat distribution percentages ware decreased in both groups. Both group appeared to be increased muscle mass. The level of body water was decreased in healthy group and increased in unhealthy group. Unhealthy group appeared to be decreased level of T-C, TG and LDL-C. In contrast, the unhealthy group revealed the increased level of HDL-C. These results demonstrate the effect of TRDM to elderly people. This effectiveness can be adapted for the protection and treatment of geriatics-related adult diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

  • This study aims to investigate overall factors regarding participation process such as process to pro-environmental behavior, pro-environmental behavior, continuing factors and constraint factors of outdoor recreation participants, and to determine logical correlation between them in order to make a theory model. To this end, grounded theory approach is applied for interpretation. First, pro-environmental behavior of outdoor recreation participants was formed by sequential influence of causal conditions and situational context. Second, outdoor recreation participants who participated in pro-environmental behavior of central phenomenon experienced peculiar continuing factors and constraint factors but it was found they also experienced general continuing factors and constraint factors. Third, it was analyzed that resultant settlement of pro-environmental leisure activities was partially fed back to the participation continuing factors of mediating conditions and a club of interaction strategy. Result from this study will give a help to widely understand experience of participation in leisure and restraints on leisure of outdoor recreation participants, and to development of study through organic combination between subsequent researches.
