  • For CSLDV, the Chebyshev demodulation (or polynomial) technique and Hilbert transform approach have been used for mode shape reconstruction with harmonic excitation. In this paper, the Hilbert-Huang transform approach was applied as an alternative to impact excitation cases in terms of a numerical approach. The vibration of the tested structure is modeled using impulse response functions. In order to verify this technique, a simply supported beam was chosen as the test rig. With additional innovative steps which are the ideal-band pass filter and the nodal point determination, Hilbert-Huang transformation can be used for a good mode shape reconstruction even in the impact excitation case.

A damage localization method based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) for plates

  • Boundary effect and the noise robustness are the two crucial aspects which affect the effectiveness of the damage localization based on the mode shape measurements. To overcome the boundary effect problem and enhance the noise robustness in damage detection, a simple damage localization method is proposed based on the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for the mode shape of composite plates. In the proposed method, the boundary effect problem is addressed by the decomposition and reconstruction of mode shape, and the noise robustness in enhanced by the noise filtering during the decomposition and reconstruction process. Numerical validations are performed on plate-like structures for various damage and boundary scenarios. Validations show that the proposed method is accurate and effective in the damage detection for the two-dimensional structures.

  • In this study, the equation of motion of impacting elastic structures was derived through the theory, and the shape control of impact force using correlations of the dynamic characteristics and impact force history between two elastic structures was accomplished. Through numerical analysis and experiments, the classical contact mechanisms were verified, and the effects of the relative motion between impactor and elastic structure on the impact force shape were studied, and then the shape change of impact force depending on the impact position and mode shape of cantilever beam were analyzed. The 2-DOF impactor was designed and used. Reconstruction characteristics of impact force in cantilever beam were reviewed .

  • Nowadays, Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry is a well established measuring technique with a wide range of industrial applications, particularly in the fields of deformation measurement and vibration analysis. Comparing with holographic inteferometry, it has some attractive features, which are rapid recording and reconstruction, satisfiable automation etc. Time-average ESPI was used to provide vibration mode shape of an object whose vibration amplitude is given as a fringe pattern. However, it is not possible to determine the direction of motions of a point on the object at any given time, because time-average method does not give any information about the phase of vibration. A better technique is stroboscopic method which can measure the amplitude and phase of vibrating surface. In this paper, loudspeakers were tested by these two methods and the mode shape and amplitude of vibration were visualized. As measured results, we can assume that these techniques will be applied directly in the loudspeaker industry.

  • A method to reconstruct the sound field around a Korean bell is developed. The sound radiation problem is formulated based on the boundary element method by using the algorithm of the acoustical holography. Sound pressures at the hologram surface are measured and used as input data for the analysis program that was developed in this study. An error minimization scheme is presented to overcome difficulties that arise in the backward reconstruction of the BEM-based acoustical holography In the model fictitious source surfaces were also introduced to reduce the complexity stemmed from the source shape. The sound field associated with the (4.0) vibrational mode of the Korean bell was visualized and verified experimentally.

구조물의 손상탐지를 위한 센서 위치 최적화 및 적용 (Optimal Placement of Sensors for Damage Detection in a Structure and its Application)

  • 본 논문에서는 Shannon의 샘플링 이론을 이용하여 제한된 수의 센서에서 얻은 모드형상으로 정확한 모드형상을 재생성하고, 이렇게 재생성한 모드형상을 이용하여 구조물에 발생한 손상을 탐지할 수 있는지의 가능성에 대해 조사하였다. 우선 시간 영역에서의 Shannon의 샘플링 이론을 검토하였고, 이를 공간영역으로 확대하였다. 공간영역으로 확대한 Shannon의 샘플링 이론은 그 효용성을 확인하기 위하여 단순보의 모드형상을 해석적으로 구한 후 최소한으로 제한된 수의 샘플 데이터로 모드형상을 재생하였고 이를 원래의 모드형상과 비교하였다. 이렇게 하여 얻은 결과를 바탕으로 구조물의 모드형상을 추출하는 동적실험에서 필요한 최적 가속도계의 위치를 구할 수 있는 간단한 관계식을 제안하였다. 제안된 관계식과 공간영역으로 확대한 Shannon의 샘플링 이론의 실용성은 연속 2스팬으로 구성된 실험실 빔 구조물의 손상 전과 후의 모드형상에 적용하여 손상을 탐지함으로써 입증하였다.

A modified index for damage detection of structures using improved reduction system method

  • The modal strain energy method is one of the efficient methods for detecting damage in the structures. Due to existing some limitations in real-world structures, sensors can only be located on a limited number of degrees of freedom (DOFs) of a structure. Therefore, the mode shape values in all DOFs of structures cannot be measured. In this paper, a modified modal strain energy based index (MMSEBI) is introduced to locate damaged elements of structures when a limited number of sensors are used. The proposed MMSEBI is based on the reconstruction of mode shapes using Improved Reduction System (IRS) method. Therefore, in the first step by employing IRS method, mode shapes in slave degrees of freedom are estimated by those of master degrees of freedom. In the second step, the proposed MMSEBI is used to located damage elements. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method, two numerical examples are considered under different damage patterns considering the measurement noise. Moreover, the universal threshold based on statistical hypothesis testing principles is applied to damage index values. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed MMSEBI for the structural damage localization when comparing with the available damage index named MESBI. The results demonstrate that the presented method can be used as a practical strategy for structural damage identification, especially when a limited number of sensors are installed on the structure. Finally, the combination of MMSEBI and IRS method can provide a reliable tool to identify the location of damage accurately.

입체적횡다증회전조사를 병합한 방사선수술의 새로운 접근 : 포톤나이프 (A New Approach with Combined Stereotactic Trans-multiarc Beams for Radiosurgery Based on the Linear Accelerator : Photon Knife)

  • 목적 : 선형가속기의 광자선을 이용한 두개내 소병변의 방사선수술에서 다중회전조사와 횡다중회전조사를 병용한 방사선 수술방법을 개발하고, 컴퓨터단층영상을 재구성한 방사선수술계획을 통해 선량분포를 비교하여 병변이외 정상조직의 선량을 줄이기 위한 선량변수를 구하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 선형가속기 6 MV 광자선을 이용하여 치료대 각과 선원지지체 회전 및 환자체위변위를 이용한 입체적 다중 및 횡다중회전조사를 조사하여 선량분포를 비교하였다. 입체적 선량분포와 횡단면, 시상면 및 관상면 치료대 영상재구성의 선량분포는 본 대학에서 개발한 방사선수술기구 및 소프트웨어 (Photon Knife)를 통해 이루어졌다. 입체적 다중회전조사에 의해 얻은 선량은 치료대 각이 20, 50, 120, 160 도, 각각의 선원지지체 회전각은 20-160도이며, 다중회전조사의 치료대각 30, 150도와 횡다중회전조사의 치료대각 30, 150도에 선원 회전각 20-160도를 입체조사하여 비교하였다. 결과 : 선형가속기를 이용한 방사선수술선량분포는 동일 콜리메이터에서도 치료대와 선원지지체 각에 따라 크게 변하였다. 입체횡다중회전조사를 시행한 경우 표적을 중심으로 전후방향의 선량분포는 다중회전조사만을 사용한 경우보다 선량기울기가 증가하여 정상뇌조직의 손상을 더 감소시킬 수 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 병변주위의 치명장기 위치에 따라 방사선 회전 방향을 적절히 정할 수 있다. 방사선수술의 입체선량과 주위 장기 및 표적의 On-Target 입체화는 방사선수술의 정확성, 복수개의 표적중심결정과 주위정상장기의 선량포함범위를 비교적 정확하게 보여줌을 알 수 있다. 결론 : 방사선수술선량계획의 입체화는 선량과 표적 및 주위장기의 선량범위를 입체적으로 정할 뿐만 아니라, 표적의 모양이 불규칙형일 때는 복수개의 표적중심결정에 필수적임을 알 수 있었다. 다중회전조사와 횡다중회전조사를 병합한 방사선수술은 표적주위의 치명정상장기의 손상을 줄이기 위해 총회전각의 변화없이 치명장기에 도달될 선량을 줄일 수 있으며, 25 mm 직경의 콜리메이터를 사용한 선량분포는 $80-50\%$의 간격이 $1.1\~3.0 mm$, $90\~50\%$$2.0\~3.0mm$를 나타내었다.

Sensory Information Processing

  • The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70$\pm$1.32mmHg/min)compared to CF dialyzers(4.32$\pm$0.55mmHg/min)(p<0.05). However, there was no observable difference in the UFR between the two dialyzers. Neither APD nor UFR showed any significant increase with an increasing number of reuses for up to more than 20reuses. A substantial number of failures observed in APD(larger than 20mmHe/min)on the reused dialyzers(2 out of 40 CP and S out 26 C-DAK) were attributed to the Possible damage on the fibers. The CF 15-11 HFDs which failed APD test did not show changes in the UFR compared to normal dialyzers indicating that APD is a more sensitive test than UFR test to evaluate the integrity of the fibers. 30527 T00401030527 ^x For quantitative measurement of reflected light from a clinical diagnostic strip, a prototype old reflectance photometer was designed. The strip loader and cassette were made to obtain more accurate reflectance parameters. The strip was illuminated at 45˚c through optical fiber and the intensity of reflected light was determined at rectanguLat angle using a photodiode. The kubelka-munk coefficient and reflection optical density were determined ar four different wavelengths(500, 550, 570 and 610nm) for blood glucose strip. The mice were divided into two groups. One group was injected with Photofrin II, intravenously (2.5mg/kg body weight). The other group received no Photofrin II. A photosensitizer behaved as an added absorber. The purpose of this study is to identify major geometrical differences between Korean femurs 3nd others that we believe belong to Caucasians so that we would be able to get insights into the femoral component design that fits Asians including Koreans. We utilized computerized tomography (CT) images of femurs extracted from cadavers. The CT images were transformed into bitmap data by using a film scanner, and then analyzed by using a commercially available software called Image v.1.0 and a Macintosh IIci computer.The resulting data were compared with already published data. The major results show that the geometry of the Korean femurs is significantly different from that of Caucasians: (1) the anteversion angle and the canal flare index are greater by the amount of approximately 8˚ and 0.5, respectively, (2) the shape of the isthmus cross section is more round, and (3) the distance between the teaser trochanter and the proximal border of the isthmus is shelter by about 15 mm. The results suggested that the femoral component suitable for Asians should be different from the currently-used components designed and manufactured mostly by European or American companies. 30537 T00401030537 ^x It is well known that nonlinear propagation characteristics of the wave in the tissue may give very useful information for the medical diagnoisis. In this paper, a new method to detect nonlinear propagation characteristics of the internal vibration in the tissue for the low frequency mechanical vibration by using bispectral analysis is proposed. In the method, low frequency vibration of f0( = 100Hz) is applied on the surface of the object, and the waveform of the internal vibration x (t) is measured from Doppler frequency modulation of silmultaneously transmitted probing ultrasonic waves. Then, the bispectra of the signal x (t) at the frequencies (f0, f0) and (f0, 2f0) are calculated to estimate the nonlinear propagation characteristics as their magnitude ratio, w here since bispectrum is free from the gaussian additive noise we can get the value with high S/N. Basic experimental system is constructed by using 3.0 MHz probing ultrasonic waves and the several experiments are carried out for some phantoms. Our department has developed an information system for routine hematology using down-sized computer system. The operating system and database management system were SCO UNIX and SCO foxbase, respectively. For program development, we used Xbase language provided by SCO foxbase. The C language was used for interface purpose. To make the system use friendly, pull-down menu was used. The system connected to our hospital information system via application program interface (API), so the information related to patient and request details is automatically transmitted to our computer. Our system interfaced with fwd complete blood count analyzers(Sysmex NE-8000 and Coulter STKS) for unidirectional data tansmission from analyzer to computer. Because the point of maximun temperature of laser-irradiated gelatin exists below the surface due to surface cooling, evaporation at the boiling temperature is made explosively from below the surface. The important parameters of this process are the conduction loss to laser power absorption (defined as the conduction-to-laser power parameter, Nk), the convection heat transfer at the surface to conduction loss (defined as Bi), dimensionless extinction coefficient (defined as Br.), and dimensionless irradiation time (defined as Fo). Dependence of Fo on Nk and Bi has been observed by experiment, and the results have been compared with the numerical results obtained by solving a 2-dimensional conduction equation.
