This study investigated consumers' recognition on shelf life of health functional foods to set up their rational expiration date. For this study 107 male and female adults aged 20 to 59 years were randomly selected as major consumers of health functional foods. And their data were analyzed with SPSS 17.0. The questionnaire included questions asking a consumer's recognition on the shelf life of health functional foods and how to treat health function food passing its shelf life. In this study, the consumers were found to pay attentions considerably to the shelf life. But most of them did not know an accurate meaning of the shelf life of health functional food and mistook it for expiry date. In addition, the consumers doubted safety of health functional foods passing the shelf life. Therefore, education for consumers about an accurate meaning of the shelf life was needed. The results of this study were considered to be helpful to set up a reasonable expiration date for health functional food.
With the rapid expansion of the economy, consumers' interest in health has also grown and the consumption of health foods is also growing at a rapid rate. However, because of the lack of understanding and Information about health foods, there is growing discontentment societally and in relation to the consumers' individual health. This study was conducted to get consumers to use the health food soundly and provide useful information to consumer behavior researchers of health food by researching consumers' past consumption experience and recognition of health foods. 662 people over the age of 20 in the Seoul area were sampled for this study. Through the results of this study, it was revealed that 71.5% of the respondents said they consumed health foods in the past year. The people surveyed said they thought they were health on the whole(3.72) and were slightly concerned (3.30) with their health. Lastly. the results of the studying the recognition of health food, respondents believe that health foods help to maintenance of good health(3.63) recover from fatigue(3.59), prevent of disease(3.32). They also believe that it is not harmful to the body(2.85) but were concerned about additives(3.24) and side effects(3.24) The study also found consumers to think that health foods are expensive(4.03) but is not of the highest quality(2.84) and that the dosage is not exact(2.84). In addition. they believe the labeling to be accurate(2.89), the ads to be exaggerated(3.88). information about the products to be lacking(3.71) and finally refund or exchange to be difficult(3.85).
Objectives : Targeting Korean adults, the food pattern are grasped. And, its correlation with oral disease is analyzed. In order to offer basic data to developing the nutritional policy and nutritional program for the future prevention from oral disease, a research was conducted by utilizing the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005(the 3rd term). Methods : The subjects in this study were 6,526 adults in more than fully 19 years among 9,047 persons who participated in the food intake survey out of those who completed the health interview survey. The statistical analysis was analyzed by using SPSS 12.0 program. Results : 1. As a result of Group Analyzing was indicated to dangerous-type food pattern and protection-type food pattern. 2. As a result of analyzing the answers for having dental caries in the annually personal recognition was indicated to be high in the dangerous-type food pattern, and had not the statistically significant difference. 3. As a result of analyzing the answers for having periodontal disease in the annually personal recognition was indicated to be high in the dangerous-type food pattern, and had the statistically significant difference(p<0.05). 4. As a result of analyzing the food pattern factors that have influence upon both major oral illnesses in the annually personal recognition, the person, who has the dangerous-type food pattern, had high risk level of the periodontal disease in the annually personal recognition. Conclusions : In the above results, as a result of surveying and analyzing importance of the food pattern in the incidence of both major oral illnesses, it is considered that there will be necessity of continuing to research into developing the nutritional policy and nutritional program in order to prevent oral illness in the future.
Objectives: This study was conducted to find out the actual status and recognition of food safety among undergraduates in some areas and verified the results. Method: 328 undergraduate students at two colleges in J-city, J-province were chosen and data were collected from May 10 to June 20, 2008 and analyzed. For data analysis, SPSS 12.0 Version was utilized. Results: Of the students surveyed 66.8% had experienced food poisoning. Of the students who had experienced food poisoning, 57.1% were treated after food poisoning. 75.6% of the students surveyed said that food safety recognition on food distribution was insufficient. The relationship between expectation and satisfaction of food safety was positive(r=.575, p<.01). Recognition scale of food hygiene behavior was 1.32 points on average. And recognition scale of personal hygiene was 1.24 points and recognition of food management related-hygiene was 1.39 points.
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between intake of food unconformable to each Sasang constitution and the recognition of irregular symptoms of health condition. The study subjects, 362 university students nationwide, were classified according to their Sasang constitution. Regarding the correlation between intake of constitutionally unconformable food and health recognition, the Soeum type showed a positive correlation between unconformable food intake and multiple subjective symptoms. According to the detailed food type, the Soyang type showed a positive correlation between chicken intake and the symptoms of eyes and skin, and between pepper intake and multiple subjective symptoms. The Soeum type showed a negative correlation between mackerel intake and the symptoms of mouth and anus. A negative correlation was observed between mung-bean intake and multiple subjective symptoms, and this tendency persisted in the correlations between nonglutinous millet intake and multiple subjective symptoms, between wheat powder intake and multiple subjective symptoms, and not only the symptoms of the respiratory system but also eyes and skin. Positive correlations were found between banana intake and multiple subjective symptoms, and between mile intake and the symptoms of the respiratory system. However, the Taeum type didn't display any significant correlation with any food type.
This study aimed to analyze the effect of demographic characteristics of consumers and quality recognition factors on purchase intention of organic wine, and to provide preliminary data necessary for the development of wine industry. By factor analysis of collected surveys, quality recognition factors of both the experienced and non-experienced group of organic wine environment/health, varieties of grapes, price, and four brand elements. First, among demographic characteristics, only income level hae a significant influence on the changes in quality recognition causes. Each of quality recognition causes of organic wine had a significant relation with purchase intent. The result of our analysis suggested that 'environment/health' was most influential for the experienced group, and 'health' was most influential for the non-experienced group. Therefore, this hypothesis is supported.
The purpose of this study was to research healthy food behavior and food recognition for each Asian country after subjects had visited Asian restaurants. The subjects of the study were university students from Griffith university and Queensland university, Australia. The survey was conducted from June 1 to 28, 2010. The summary of the analysis is as follows. Firstly, for dietary behavior related to healthy food, 'average' was the most common answer at 41.0% (102 respondents). Regarding the standard of selecting healthy food, 'if it is good for health' was the most common answer, regarding the reasons to like healthy food, 'because it is good for health', was the most common, and for information about healthy food, 'obtain from TV or media' was the most common. Regarding eating healthy food at home or dining out, most respondents answered 'once or twice a week', whereas regarding thinking of eating healthy food while dining out, 'average' was the most common answer. Secondly, the recognition of six Asian cuisines were ranked in the order of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indian, and Vietnamese. Representative well-being food by country, Bibimbap of Korea, Sushi of Japan, Shark's Fin of China, Tom Yum Kung of Thailand, Curry of India and Goi Cuon of Vietnam were selected. Thirdly, regarding recognition of well-being food, disease effect factor, health-oriented factor, nutrition factor and vegetarian diet factor were extracted. We found that disease effect factor and nutrition factor had positive (+) effects on visiting Asian restaurants due to recognition of well-being foods. Therefore, it is expected that more local people will eat at Asian restaurants if the public relations for Asian restaurants emphasizes harmony between well-being food and Asian food.
This study was to investigate the recognition level of food contamination with residual pesticides and hazardous heavy metals from 365 male and female adults in Taejon area using questionnaires. Among the recognizing level of residual pesticides in overall foods, 69.1% were 'serious', 25.6% were 'average' and 5.3% were 'not serious'. Over 94.7% of the subjects recognized residual pesticides pollution infoods. for hazardous heavy metals in food, 47.8% responsed as 'serious', 40.5% as 'average' and 11.8 as ' not serious' . Over 88.3% of the subjects recognized contaminated pesticides seriously in fruits, 72.1% in vegetables and 51.7% in cereals, whereas 55.7% of the subjects recognized hazardous heavy metal contamination seriously in fruits, 53.4% in vegetables, 40.8% in fishes and shellfishes and 35.0% in seaweeds. The subjects recognized residual pesticides contamination more seriously in overall foods, cereal, potatoes and starches, bean, vegetables and fruits, whereas hazardous heavy metal contamination was recognized more seriously in fishes and shellfishes, and seaweeds food groups. Comparisons were shown based on individuial's occupation. Farmer, forester, iner and fisher showed the lowest recognizing level of food contamination in most food groups. The mean score of the dietary effect by mass media's information on food contamination from residual pesticides and hazardous heavy metals were 3.51±0.96 out of 5 points. By Duncan's multiple range test, sex, age, marriage, food cost per month, concerns about health and nutrition knowledge showed significant differences in the mean effect score at p<0.05. According to a pesticides contamination in several food groups were affected by food cost per month, mass media's information on food contamination, health status, and concerns about health, But a recognition level of hazardous heavy metals in food were affected by income and, food cost per month mass media's information on food contamination, health status, concern about health and nutrition knowledge. People who need to take extreme precautions of food contamination were in order of producers, government officials, homemakers, the consumer's association and consumers.

The Taeum type presented the a sigmificant positive correlation between multiple subjective symptoms and the intake of spaghetti, a positive correlation between the symptoms of the respiratory system and the intake of tuna salad, a positive correlation between the symptoms of the eye and skin and the intake of mafa tofu, spaghetti, and tuna salad, a negative correlation between the symptoms of the mouth and anus and the intake of codfish jiri, and a negative correlation between the symptoms of the respiratory system and the intake of tuna salad.
