  • The 7th national mathematics curriculum lays emphasis on an interrelation of several subjects and a connection between mathematics and real life. In this reason, this study focuses on the enhancement of sound understanding nuclear energy which is one of important factor(concepts or contents) dealt with in the other subjects such as science, environment, social studies, etc.. Recently, even though it is insistent that nuclear energy be so important and request in the future society, there are still strong pro and cons regarding the use of it. In this study, teaching-and-learning materials were developed dealing with using nuclear energy, and consequently they might be used in math class for the purpose of enhancement of mathematical learning ability and of recognition on nuclear energy. In this study, Material 1 included a matter of the necessity for nuclear power plants using the ratio concept, and Material 2 did on a matter of the efficiency of nuclear energy and the unclear of nuclear power plants using ratio-graph, in the elementary and upper school mathematics. Material 3 focused on a matter of the principles of nuclear power plants using the properties of exponential law in high school mathematics. • As the media changes, communication patterns in modern society have been changed as well. This change in the media environment has also transformed the required literacy and it is time to accept this new literacy in Korean language education. At this point, this paper inspected the perception of media literacy classes of 73 teachers currently in the field of Korean language education. The results show that most teachers are aware of the media literacy which has changed socially, and show strong agreement that this changed literacy should be applied in the field of Korean language education. However, today's media literacy education is passive. Although teachers generally understand the dynamic features of newly emerging digital media, it remains as a tool in class. The teachers pointed out that device problems such as device environment and the spread of media are one of the many reasons for such passive usage. However, the more fundamental problem is that the new communication environment has not been reflected in the curriculum actively. Teachers thought that media literacy has a close relationship with Korean proficiency. Also, they saw that this kind of media literacy will be required for Korean learners in the future with more importance. Based on the results of the study, this paper argues that Korean language education needs to accept and reflect the changes of media in the curriculum.

  • In their teaching practice, teachers encounter multi-dimensions of pedagogical challenges. The recognition and reflection on these challenges is crucial to advance our science teaching. This study looked into science teachers' dilemmas of their teaching practical work through their written cases. Dilemma cases are teachers' narratives organized around important events of teaching and learning. It can reveal teachers' situated cognition and be used as lens to investigate complex realities of science teaching and learning. 26 pre- and in-service elementary teachers' dilemma cases of science practical work were carefully collected and analysed to interpret what constitute tensions in elementary science practical works. They were largely grouped into three: Curriculum and Institutional Relevance, Students Relevance, Nature of School Experiments Relevance and divided into 7 subheadings: 'Authority of Curriculum(textbook)', 'Disappointment at external support', 'Students' interests and safety', 'Students' unscientific and inert attitude', 'Difficulty of showing expected results', 'Generalization through experiment', 'Knowledge acquisition and authentic inquiry'. Each dilemma was interpreted in terms of the tensions which constitute contradictory beliefs, values, expectation and realities. These dilemmas enabled to expose actual conditions of elementary science practical work and teachers' challenges otherwise can not be seen easily. Science teacher educators also can get some implications to overcome the gap between theory and practice in their teacher education.

  • With the advent of the information age and the knowledge-based society, human resource development has become a key factor in determining a nation's competitiveness. And technological qualification systems have a direct and significant influence on human resource development. In order to guarantee Korea's continued development as a competitive member of the international community, it is demanded that a Korean Technology Qualification System (KTQS) is to accept international qualification criteria. This study was conducted in order to analysis current movements about the international mutual recognition of Professional Engineer and present problems for introducing APEC Engineer System to KTQS, and also recommend reasonable plans which overcome those. Under the WTO/GATS, the liberalization of trade in professional services will steadily increase. APEC activities to facilitate the portability of qualifications is considered complementary to the WTO movement. If the government attempts to introduce the APEC criteria for university degree requirements, university curriculum standards, programs for continuing professional developments(CPD), and practical, on-site experience. In the standpoints with the recent developments of APEC Engineer agreement on profession qualification, it is important to guarantee that Korean qualifications have a common, international currency. Measures have to be taken to harmonize the qualifications standards for Professional Engineer with those set out by the WTO/GATS movement. Also this will require an increase in the quality of university curriculum and an establishment of CPD. This process will be further enhanced by the organization of APEC Engineer Monitoring committee, Consisting of government officials, professional engineers and university professors. At this committee we can discuss the best strategies to keep our nation's interests.

  • Elementary science curriculum is designed to be closely-related magnetism with electricity in a physics domain and this paper explored whether elementary school students have recognized of relationships between them and whether there are any trends in the degree of recognition by grades. The elementary students of 3rd to 6th grade (total 154 persons) in a school in a local city participated in the experiment. Two forms of questionnaire were administrated to each grades. In the first questionnaire about magnetism, students were asked to rank the physics terms as the degree of proximity into magnetism and to write briefly the reason. In the second questionnaire about electricity, students were asked to do the same routine. The closer to the central term in the diagram, the lower score were given and the terms were classified as closely related to magnetism, electricity and the rest. Calculated the response frequency and averaged by the ranked terms, it was examined that the scores of proximity in how students closely rated conception to magnetism and electricity. The result said that the upper grades students showed the degree of proximity with magnetism and electricity as closely. Therefore, the sequence of comprehension of magnetism and electricity concept, which was found in the elementary school curriculum, seems to be found in the elementary students' recognitions by grades.

  • National Competency Standards are the major administrative project to build a competence-based society. The manpower for the global society should be recognized by performance rather than educational records. Therefore, all colleges should first nurture NCS-type manpower based on field needs. This study comparatively analyzed the differences between the lecture style of four-year colleges and the outcomes of problem-solving and project-based learning method to prove why it is necessary to introduce the NCS program. Especially, It will review the constraints and measures of NCS introduction to overcome in a four-year university. Through this, it can be used as a means to help improve the field conformity of a four-year college curriculum by presenting the development and utilization of curriculum-based NCS in a four-year university. As a result, it was found that the overall satisfaction with the problem-solving and project-based learning method was above average. Many students were dissatisfied with the traditional teaching methods and the new project-based learning method was relatively effective in college education. Students' participation also improved. Based on the evaluation of learning performance, the new method was found more satisfactory than the old teaching method in terms of comprehension of professional knowledge in various fields, nurturing of logical thinking skills, acquisition of analytical skills, comprehensive thinking skills, creative problem recognition, and open-minded thinking skills.

  • The Korean pharmacy education has been facing extraordinary challenges. Clinical pharmacy has been embraced into mainstream in the new curriculum since its introduction in Korea. Although these changes are positive to provide our graduates adequate knowledge and skills to meet international standards of pharmacy education, current preparedness is far from desired goals. Thus, faculty members and clinical pharmacy experts from diverse walks are tirelessly committed to develop clinically oriented educational sites. However, it is important to recognize that pharmacy practice, research, and education should be aligned with the $Profession^{\circ}{\Phi}s$ vision. Most faculty members in clinical pharmacy were unexceptionally expected to tackle educational challenges with new curriculum. All academicians must profess throughout their career. Fundamental component in academic career is research accomplishments. The prosperity of clinical pharmacy inevitably goes with research. Clinical researchers in Korea are underprivilaged over basic scientists due to less funding opportunity, administrative support, and research resources. Clinical pharmacy researchers should further overcome poor recognition among other healthcare professionals and government. Aggressive networking and support and awareness of pharmacy oriented clinical research from the Korean college of clinical pharmacy would nurture clinical pharmacy research. With research progress, clinical pharmacy would be prerogative in Korean pharmacy advance.
