  • TV-Anytime metadata can be delivered by unidirectional or bi-directional network. In bi -directional environment, the special request of a client is sent to metadata service providers and then the providers provide the personalized metadata back to the client. In this paper. we introduce the design and implementation of a broadcasting receiver for personalized broadcasting service in bi-directional environment. We describe actual system configuration and usage examples for bi-directional personalized service. The implemented receiver provides various functions for a digital broadcasting recorder and is based on TV-Anytime specification and UDDI specification to provide the metadata service discovery.

  • In this paper, author studied on the elementary data required for the design of the receiver of Pseudo Noise (PN) phase modulation communication adopted in Global Positioning System(GPS). By computer simulation technique, the phase modulator, filters, and PN generator are designed, and also required bandwidth of R-F amplifier for carrier frequency in phase modulation system is investigated. It is verified that the optimum bandwidth is about 3 times of the PN frequency and almost independent of the carrier frequency. And the low pass filter required for demodulation of slow Boolean data is also found to be about 60 times of the data signal frequency.

  • In this letter, an ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) scheme is applied for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection in ultra-wideband (UWB) communication systems. The error rate expression of an OSIC receiver on a log-normal multipath fading channel is theoretically derived in a closed form solution. Its bit error rate performance is analytically compared with that of a zero forcing receiver in the UWB MIMO detection scheme followed by RAKE combining.

  • Data Mining is used to discover patterns and relationships in huge amounts of data. Researchers in many different fields have shown great interest in data mining analysis. Using the classification technique of data mining analysis, the available model for Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC) method is presented. We present that this may help analyze result of data mining techniques.

  • The poly-Si thin film transistor (TFT) shows large variations in its characteristics due to the grain boundary of poly-crystalline silicon. This results in unacceptably large input offset of low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) receivers. To cancel the large input offset of poly-Si TFT LVDS receivers, a full-digital offset compensation scheme has been developed and verified to be able to keep the input offset under 15 mV which is sufficiently small for LVDS signal receiving.

  • The ultra-wideband (UWB) signal radiation process in an antenna is different from that of a narrowband signal. In this paper, we study the degradation of the desired signal component according to the antenna structure and location of a receiver in a bipolar time-hopping UWB system. And we propose a receiver structure with an adaptive template waveform generator to compensate for the degradation caused by a realistic TX-RX antenna system.

  • Using a sub-terahertz (sub-THz) wave generated using a photonics-based technology, a high-speed wireless link operating at up to 10 Gbps is designed and demonstrated for realization of seamless connectivity between wireless and wired networks. The sub-THz region is focused upon because of the possibility to obtain sufficient bandwidth without interference with the allocated RF bands. To verify the high-speed wireless link, such dynamic characteristics as the eye diagrams and bit error rate (BER) are measured at up to 10 Gbps for non-return-to-zero pseudorandom binary sequence $2^{31}-1$ data. From the measurement results, a receiver sensitivity of -23.5 dBm at $BER=10^{-12}$ is observed without any error corrections when the link distance between the transmitter and receiver is 3 m. Consequently, we hope that our design and experiment results will be helpful in implementing a high-speed wireless link using a sub-THz wave.

  • Basically, OCT use the interference effect of Michelson interferometer. The receiver noise of interferometer is a important fact to improve the system performance. To improve the system performance for high resolution image processing, we design a interferometer topology adding the attenuator to the reference arm. In this paper, we design the receiver noise parameter and computer simulation. In this results, SNR of the new topology system is improved 5dB compare to standard interferometer.

  • We propose a heuristic buffer management scheme that uses both positive and negative acknowledgments to provide scalability and reliability. Under our scheme, most receiver nodes only send negative acknowledgments to their repair nodes to request packet retransmissions while some representative nodes also send positive acknowledgments to indicate which packets can be discarded from the repair node's buffer. Our scheme provides scalability because it significantly reduces the number of feedbacks sent by the receiver nodes. In addition, it provides fast recovery of transmission errors since the packets requested from the receiver nodes are almost always available in their buffers. Our scheme also reduces the number of additional retransmissions from the original sender node or upstream repair nodes. These features satisfy the original goal of treebased protocols since most packet retransmissions are performed within a local group.

  • In this letter, we study the influence of receiver imperfections on bit error rate (BER) degradations in detecting low-density parity-check coded multilevel phase-shift keying signals transmitted over a Rician fading channel. Based on the analytical system model which we previously developed using Monte Carlo simulations, we determine the BER degradations caused by the simultaneous influences of stochastic phase error, quadrature error, in-phase-quadrature mismatch, and the fading severity.
