결로시간 예측을 위한 경험모형의 최적 기상변수 (Optimal Weather Variables for Estimation of Leaf Wetness Duration Using an Empirical Method)

  • CART(Classification and Regression Tree) 모형을 이용해서 결로시간 예측에 필요한 기상변수들을 평가하였다. 입력 기상 변수들은 0.3m와 1.5m에서 측정된 기온, 상대습도, 풍속의 시간별 측정값으로서 이 관측 값들은 1997년부터 1999년 5월에서 9월 사이에 미국의 Iowa, Illinois 및 Nebraska주에 위치한 15개 자동 기상 관측소에서 관측된 것이다. 0.3 m에서 측정된 기온, 상대습도, 그리고 풍속을 이용해서 얻어진 모형이 가장 높은 결로시간의 예측 적중율(85.5%)을 보였으며, 이 모형은 Gleason 등(1994)의 CART/SLD 모형의 적중률(84.7%) 보다 다소 높았다. 그러나 새로운 변수를 추가한 경우에 정확도의 향상이 다소 있었으나 CART/SLD 모형을 대체할 정도는 아니었다. 따라서, 기온, 상대습도, 풍속들의 종관 기상관측값들을 입력변수로 사용하는 CART/SLD 모형이 종관 기상관측 자료 이외의 추가적인 자료를 필요로 하는 모형으로 결로시간을 예측하는 것보다 합리적일 것으로 보인다.

Analysis of Spray Characteristics of Tractor-mounted Boom Sprayer for Precise Spraying

  • Purpose: This study determines the spray characteristics and effective spray width of a tractor-mounted commercial boom sprayer through experiments. Methods: Performance tests were conducted to investigate the spray characteristics of the nozzles on a commercial boom sprayer. The flow rate and spray width of a single nozzle were measured at three levels of spray pressure (0.5, 0.7, and 1.0 MPa) and spray height (15, 30, and 45 cm), respectively. The average value of three repetition tests was used as the representative value. A coefficient of variation (CV) was used as an index of spray uniformity, and the width that guarantees CV values of approximately 15% was determined as the effective spray width. The spray characteristics of the overall boom sprayer were derived analytically by superimposing the spray characteristics of a single nozzle. Results: The test results for a single nozzle showed that the spray width tended to increase as the spray height and spray pressure increased. The effective spray width for a single nozzle was the largest at a spray pressure of 1.0 MPa and spray height of 45 cm, which resulted in a coverage of 84 cm of width. The effective spray width for the entire boom sprayer was also the largest at the spray pressure of 1.0 MPa and spray height of 45 cm, with a magnitude of 424.5 cm. The chemical spraying work in an actual field was simulated by applying a spray width of 400 cm. As a result of the operation for three swaths, the CV value was less than 10% for 1,200 cm of the overall spray width, which meant that uniform application was achieved. Conclusions: It was reasonable to set the effective spray width of the boom sprayer used in this study to 400 cm.

A Novel Multi-Path Routing Algorithm Based on Clustering for Wireless Mesh Networks

  • As one of the new self-organizing and self-configuration broadband networks, wireless mesh networks are being increasingly attractive. In order to solve the load balancing problem in wireless mesh networks, this paper proposes a novel multi-path routing algorithm based on clustering (Cluster_MMesh) for wireless mesh networks. In the clustering stage, on the basis of the maximum connectivity clustering algorithm and k-hop clustering algorithm, according to the idea of maximum connectivity, a new concept of node connectivity degree is proposed in this paper, which can make the selection of cluster head more simple and reasonable. While clustering, the node which has less expected load in the candidate border gateway node set will be selected as the border gateway node. In the multi-path routing establishment stage, we use the intra-clustering multi-path routing algorithm and inter-clustering multi-path routing algorithm to establish multi-path routing from the source node to the destination node. At last, in the traffic allocation stage, we will use the virtual disjoint multi-path model (Vdmp) to allocate the network traffic. Simulation results show that the Cluster_MMesh routing algorithm can help increase the packet delivery rate, reduce the average end to end delay, and improve the network performance.

영상자료의 식생지수를 이용한 제주 북동부 지역의 풍력자원지도 작성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mapping of Wind Resource using Vegetation Index Technique at North East Area in Jeju Island)

  • 풍력자원지도의 작성을 위해 기본적으로 지형고도자료, 지면조도자료, 풍황자료가 필요하다. 그 중 지면조도자료의 경우 토지피복분류 기법을 통한 토지피복지도를 이용하여 구할 수 있다. 지면조도지도의 경우 토지피복의 성질에 따라 풍속의 조도계수가 다르게 되며, 이러한 조도계수에 근거하여 정확한 지면조도지도를 만들 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 Landsat위성자료를 이용하여 무감독 분류 방법과 식생지수법을 사용하여 지면조도자료를 생성한 후 풍력자원지도를 작성하였다. 이렇게 만들어진 풍력자원지도를 근거로 식생지수법의 사용이 무감독 분류 기법에 비하여 타당한지를 검증하였다. 그 결과, 식생지수를 사용한 풍력자원지도는 관측 자료와 비교한 경과 60% 이상의 등급 일치율을 보였고 불일치하는 픽셀에 대해서는 최대 등급의 차이를 넘지 않았다. 따라서 풍력자원지도 생성 시 필요한 지면조도지도를 계산할 경우 식생지수를 이용한 분류방법이 효과적인 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구는 다층지반으로 구성된 방조제의 침투변화에 따른 안정성을 검토하기 위하여 현장조사와 역해석 방법으로 투수계수와 침투수량을 결정하고, 제체의 변형량과 유실량 측정을 위하여 침투모형시험을 수행하여 가장 합리적인 수치해석 방법을 결정하였다. 검토결과 방조제는 다층지반구조물로 투수계수 차이에 의해 바닥보호공과 성토체 경계부에서 유실이 발생하고 이로 인해 방조제의 변형이 발생한다는 것을 예측할 수 있었다. 한편 침투모형 시험에 대한 수치해석결과 한계유속에 의한 방법은 실측치가 해석값보다 작게 나왔으나 그 경향이 유사하여 실제 단면에 적용 가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

FusionScan: accurate prediction of fusion genes from RNA-Seq data

  • Identification of fusion gene is of prominent importance in cancer research field because of their potential as carcinogenic drivers. RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) data have been the most useful source for identification of fusion transcripts. Although a number of algorithms have been developed thus far, most programs produce too many false-positives, thus making experimental confirmation almost impossible. We still lack a reliable program that achieves high precision with reasonable recall rate. Here, we present FusionScan, a highly optimized tool for predicting fusion transcripts from RNA-Seq data. We specifically search for split reads composed of intact exons at the fusion boundaries. Using 269 known fusion cases as the reference, we have implemented various mapping and filtering strategies to remove false-positives without discarding genuine fusions. In the performance test using three cell line datasets with validated fusion cases (NCI-H660, K562, and MCF-7), FusionScan outperformed other existing programs by a considerable margin, achieving the precision and recall rates of 60% and 79%, respectively. Simulation test also demonstrated that FusionScan recovered most of true positives without producing an overwhelming number of false-positives regardless of sequencing depth and read length. The computation time was comparable to other leading tools. We also provide several curative means to help users investigate the details of fusion candidates easily. We believe that FusionScan would be a reliable, efficient and convenient program for detecting fusion transcripts that meet the requirements in the clinical and experimental community. 국내 방사선작업종사자에게 발생한 암의 방사선 인과도를 평가하기 위한 인과확률 계산 프로그램 (Program for Estimating the Probability of Causation to Korean Radiation Workers with Cancer)

  • 방사선작업종사자에게 발생한 암의 방사선 인과도를 평가하기 위한 통계적 측도로 인과확률(Probability of Causation)이 주로 이용된다. 인과확률의 계산 과정에는 다양한 형태의 불확실성이 존재하며, 따라서 인과확률은 하나의 점추정치(point estimate)가 아니라 여러 불확실성을 반영한 분포 또는 신뢰구간으로 평가되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 국내 방사선작업종사자에게서 발생한 암의 방사선 인과도를 평가하기 위하여, 한국인의 기저자료를 반영하며 가장 최근에 발표된 NCI-CDC 모형에 근거하여 인과확률의 분포를 계산하도록 개발된 전산 프로그램 RHRI-PEPC를 소개한다. 또한 방사선작업종사자의 가상 피폭시나리오에 대한 모의실험을 통해, 인과확률의 점추정치와 불확실성 분포에 의한 방사선 인과도 평가 결과의 차이를 살펴보고 분포에 의한 평가의 경우 적절한 신뢰도 선택의 필요성을 제시한다.

A PHOTOMETRIC STUDY OF THE CONTACT BINARY XZ LEONIS

  • We present the results of new multi-color CCD photometry for the contact binary XZ Leo, together with reasonable explanations for the period and light variations. Six new times of minimum light have been determined. A period study with all available timings confirms Qian's (2001) finding that the O-C residuals have varied secularly according to $dP/dt\;=\;+8.20{\times}10^{-8}\;d\;yr^{-l}$. This trend could be interpreted as a conservative mass transfer from the less massive cool secondary to the more massive hot primary in the system with a mass flow rate of about $5.37{\times}10^{-8}\;M_{\odot}\;yr^{-l}$. By simultaneous analysis of our light curves and the previously published radial-velocity data, a consistent set of light and velocity parameters for XZ Leo is obtained. The small differences between the observed and theoretical light curves are modelled by a blue third light and by a hot spot near the neck of the primary component. Our period study does not support the tertiary light but the hot region which may be formed by gas streams from the cool secondary. The solution indicates that XZ Leo is a deep contact binary with the values of q=0.343, $i=78^{\circ}.8$, ${\Delta}(T_1-T_2)=126\;K$, and f=33.6 %, differing much from those of Niarchos et al. (1994). Absolute parameters of XZ Leo are determined as follows: $M_1=1.84\;M_{\odot},\;M_2=0.63\;M_{\odot},\;R_1=1.75\;R_{\odot},\;R_2=1.10\;R_{\odot},\;L_1=7.19\;L_{\odot},\;and\;L_2=2.66\;L_{\odot}$.

Amatoxin 중독 환자에서 Silymarin, Penicillin, N-acetylcysteine의 효과 비교: 체계적 고찰 (Comparison of Silymarin, Penicillin, N-acetylcysteine in Patient with Amatoxin Poisoning: A Systematic Review)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical efficacy of pharmacologic treatment of amatoxin poisoning patients. Methods: Literature was accessed through PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library, KoreaMed, KISS and KMBASE. Studies relevant to human use of pharmacologic therapy including silymarin, penicillin and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) for amanita poisoning were included. Case reports, letters, editorials and papers with insufficient information were excluded. Comparison of clinical outcomes (especially mortality and liver transplantation rate) in each study was analyzed. Results: The final analysis included 13 retrospective studies. None of these studies showed direct comparisons of individual agents. Among 12 studies comparing silymarin vs penicillin, eight showed clinical superiority of silymarin. Among eight studies comparing silymarin with NAC, six showed clinical superiority of silymarin. Among seven studies of NAC vs penicillin, five showed clinical superiority of NAC. Conclusion: This systematic review suggested that clinical superiority of various pharmacological agents used to treat amatoxin poisoning is debatable. Nevertheless, the available evidence suggests it is reasonable to consider combinations of multiple agents for patients with amanita poisoning. Further studies are required to establish a treatment regimen for amanita poisoning.

Postoperative Course and Recurrence of Chronic Subdural Hematoma

  • Objective : Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is known to have a significant recurrence rate. There are different criteria defining the recurrence of CSDH. We evaluated the postoperative course of CSDH and tried to propose the reasonable criteria of recurrence. Methods : We retrospectively examined the medical records and pre- and postoperative CT scans of 149 consecutive patients who underwent surgery from January 2005 to December 2009. Diagnosis was confirmed by CT scanning or MRI. The postoperative courses were either resolved or recurrent. The resolved CSDH was one of the three types; early resolution, delayed resolution, or late resolution. The recurrent CSDH was one of the four types; recurrence without resolution, early recurrence after resolution, late recurrence after resolution, or recurrent-and-resolved type. Results : The CSDH was resolved within 30 days after surgery in 58 (39%) patients, between 1 to 3 months in 62 (42%), and after 3 months in 11 (7%) patients. The CSDH was recurred in 18 (12%) patients. Late resolution or recurrence was more common in the aged. The recurrent hematoma was seen on the same side in 11 patients, on the different side in 7 patients. Recurrence was significantly more common in the thick hematomas. Conclusion : For a working criteria of the recurrence of CSDH, we propose the early recurrence as return of symptoms or reaccumulation of the hematoma after a surgery within 3 months regardless of the location, amount or repeated operations. The late recurrence can be defined as reappearance or enlargement of a liquefied hematoma within the cranial cavity surrounded by the membranes or persistent CSDH beyond 3 months after surgery.
