This paper considers a preventive maintenance policy following the expiration of renewing warranty, Most preventive maintenance models assume that each PM costs a fixed predetermined amount regardless of the effectiveness of each PM. However, it seems more reasonable to assume that the PM cost depends on the degree of effectiveness of the PM activity. In this paper we consider a periodic preventive maintenance policy following the expiration of renewing warranty when the PM cost is an increasing function of the PM effect. The optimal number and period for the periodic PM policy with effect dependent cost that minimize the expected cost rate per unit time over an infinite time span are obtained.

The efficient and rational transmission rate system is one of the crucial factors in creation of fair and competitive electricity market. Transmission charge can be largely categorized into the line usage charge, system reliability maintenance charge, access charge and others. Therefore, transmission rate structure should be able to reflect these cost components reasonably. This Paper suggests an approach that could be used for the reasonable calcuation of transmission reliability costs with reflection of line sensitivity and line outage rate.

The tropospheric ozone production mechanism for the gas phase additive oxidation reaction of hydroxyl radical (OH) with isoprene (2-methyl-1,3-butadiene) has been studied using cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) at total pressure of 50 Torr and 298 K. The applicability of CRDS was confirmed by monitoring the shorter (~4%) ringdown time in the presence of hydroxyl radical than the ring-down time without the photolysis of hydrogen peroxide. The reaction rate constant, $(9.8{\pm}0.1){\times}10^{-11}molecule^{-1}cm^3s^{-1}$, for the addition of OH to isoprene is in good agreement with previous studies. In the presence of $O_2$ and NO, hydroxyl radical cycling has been monitored and the simulation using the recommended elementary reaction rate constants as the basis to OH cycling curve gives reasonable fit to the data.

Combined Cycle Unit(CC) generates the primary power from the Gas Turbine(GT) and supplies the remaining heat of the GT to the Steam Turbine(ST) to generate the secondary power from the ST. It plays a major role in terms of energy efficiency and Load Frequency Control(LFC). Incremental Heat Rate(IHR) curves of economic dispatch(ED) of CC is applied differently by GT/ST combination. But It is practically difficult because of performance test by all combinations. This paper suggests a reasonable method for estimating IHR curves for partial combinations(1:1~(N-1):1) using IHR curves when operating with GT alone(1:0) and with all(N:1) combinations of CC.

The nonlinear rate equations are solved analytically by using the singular perturbation method to study effects of the spontaneous emission factor and the photon lifetime on the primary resonance and the first subharmonic generation(i.e., the onset of the periocd-doubling route to chaos). By large signal modulation of Hitachi CSP laser HLP 1400, the resonance frequency shift than 100 ps with 1 GHz repetition rate are generated. The experimental observations are in reasonable agreement with the theoretical results obtained using measured parameters of the rate equations.

Determining the simultaneous flow rate in any particular section of piping is the important step in order to determine the size of water supply piping. Now we are using the diversity curve of common water closet in order to determine the simultaneous flow rate of water supply piping, but there is a difference between a determined flow rate of general water closet and that of water closet for water saving. This study aims to find out the fixture unit of a flush valve type water closet for water saving in office building, and to determine the correlation between the fixture units and peak flow rates on the basis of the probability theory. A flush valve type water closet for water saving that have a 7.5 second duration of flush operation with an average design flow rate 72 $\ell$/fin was considered. Simulation results indicate that the number 5 is shown to be reasonable to the fixture unit of water closet for water saving. And the design can be undersized considerably with the revised diversity curves using modified fixture unit.

Installations of vertical boreholes for the ground source heat pump system are expensive to install. One way to reduce the initial cost is to increase the specific heat extraction rate of borehole system. However, as the specific heat extraction rate increases the temperature of borehole fluid decreases with the resultant lower Coefficient Of Performance in Heating(COPH) of heat pump system. The purpose of this study is to provide the basic informations about the performance of heat pump system with the specific heat extraction rate and soil thermal properties such as thermal conductivity and temperature. It is shown that the specific heat extraction rate is the most important parameter for the ground source heat pump system. To obtain the reasonable COPH value (COPH > 3) the heat extraction rate should be about 25 W/m or less. Accurate measurements of soil thermal properties are also very important to design the system properly. The effects of borehole thermal resistances are also examined in this study.

This paper proposes a procedure for solving a multi-stage stockpile problem with budget constant. To establish the stockpile importance index, value assessment procedure is employed with two attributes; item's essentiality and Unsatisfactoriness rate of requirements, Then we propose the balancing of stockpile importance index among stockpile items as a reasonable objective for stockpile problem.

Also, we must form basis of regional statistic by producing statistic which affects on economic and social phenomenon like regonal income, unemployment rate, and business status as the basic data of these regional policy Therefore we hope much rationalization, scientification, and specialization of administrative affairs by developing the standard statistic which coincides a regional trait.
