A Study on Seam Tracking for Fillet Welding using High Speed Rotating Arc Sensor (고속회전 아크센서를 이용한 필렛 용접선 추적에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a high speed rotating arc sensor for automatic fillet welding is introduced. In order to track the welding seam, The high speed rotating arc sensor is used. The welding tip of a high speed rotating arc sensor rotates about 3000 rpm using DC motor. The rotating torch is driven by gear between welding torch body and wire guide. The welding current is measured by using the current sensor and rot at ing position sensor. To realize the welding seam tracking algorithm with accuracy, a software filter algorithm using the moving average method is applied to the measured welding current in the microprocessor. The welding mobile robot with two wheels and two sliders is developed for fillet welding. The welding mobile robot can control its traveling direction and turn itself around the corner. The effectiveness is proven through the experimental results conducted with varied fillet tracking patterns.

Segmented Douglas-Peucker Algorithm Based on the Node Importance

  • Vector data compression algorithm can meet requirements of different levels and scales by reducing the data amount of vector graphics, so as to reduce the transmission, processing time and storage overhead of data. In view of the fact that large threshold leading to comparatively large error in Douglas-Peucker vector data compression algorithm, which has difficulty in maintaining the uncertainty of shape features and threshold selection, a segmented Douglas-Peucker algorithm based on node importance is proposed. Firstly, the algorithm uses the vertical chord ratio as the main feature to detect and extract the critical points with large contribution to the shape of the curve, so as to ensure its basic shape. Then, combined with the radial distance constraint, it selects the maximum point as the critical point, and introduces the threshold related to the scale to merge and adjust the critical points, so as to realize local feature extraction between two critical points to meet the requirements in accuracy. Finally, through a large number of different vector data sets, the improved algorithm is analyzed and evaluated from qualitative and quantitative aspects. Experimental results indicate that the improved vector data compression algorithm is better than Douglas-Peucker algorithm in shape retention, compression error, results simplification and time efficiency.

  • This paper presents the VLSI implementation of RS(reed-solomon) decoder using the Modified Euclidean Algorithm(hereafter MEA) for DVD(Digital Versatile Disc) and CD(Compact Disc). The decoder has a capability of correcting 8-error or 16-erasure for DVD and 2-error or 4-erasure for CD. The technique of polynomial evaluation is introduced to realize syndrome calculation and a polynomial expansion circuit is developed to calculate the Forney syndrome polynomial and the erasure locator polynomial. Due to the property of our system with buffer memory, the MEA architecture can have a recursive structure which the number of basic operating cells can be reduced to one. We also proposed five criteria to determine an uncorrectable codeword in using the MEA. The overall architecture is a simple and regular and has a 4-stage pipelined structure.

  • The purpose of this present experiments was to simulate the Active noise control system using MATLAB Tool kit. The Least-Mean-Square algorithm is the most applicable one to optimize the ANC systems, even it has tight limitation. This paper shows the influence of choosing step size to the performance of the LMS adaptive filters. In addition to the simulation, this paper describes the method to design the filtered LMS algorithm to get the better performance in Active noise control. It contains the secondary-path modeling to realize the real Active noise control system in the requesting fields.

  • Full scale durability test in the laboratory is an essential of any fatigue life evaluation of components or structures of the automotive vehicle. Component testing is particularly important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, Hydraulic road simulator is used to carry out the fatigue test and the vibration test. In this paper, the algorithm and software to realize the real road profile are developed. The operation software for simultaneously controlled multi-axial simulator is developed and the input and output data are displayed window based PC controller in real time. The software to generate the real road profile are developed. This paper developed a road profile reappearance software and simultaneously apply 3-axial actuator to white noise, so we verified the propriety of reappearance software through accomplishes an real test.

  • This article describes the time delay control of the 3-dimensional motion of the container cranes used in dockside container terminals. The container is suspended by four flexible cables via spreader, and due to the disturbances such as the wind and acceleration of cranes, the container undergoes translational(sway) and rotational position errors. And due to the uncertainty of weight and rotational inertia, accurate position control of container crane is difficult to realize. This paper, based on the analysis of 3-dimensional dynamics of container moving systems, develops time delay control algorithm [1]. The developed control algorithm is shown effective in controlling the container position in the presence of gust and parameter uncertainties.

  • Recent works have validated the possibility of reducing the energy consumption in wireless heterogeneous networks, achieved by switching on/off some base stations (BSs) dynamically. In this paper, to realize energy conservation, the discrete time Markov Decision Process (DTMDP) is developed to match up the BS switching operations with the traffic load variations. Then, an asynchronous decision-making algorithm, which is based on the Bellman equation and the on/off priorities of the BSs, is firstly put forward and proved to be optimal in this paper. Through reducing the state and action space during one decision, the proposed asynchronous algorithm can avoid the "curse of dimensionality" occurred in DTMDP frequently. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to validate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed asynchronous on/off strategies.

  • We proposed the method of the production of the humanoid biped robot and apply the A* path finding algorithm, for that robot mainly used in game and mobile robot, to avoid obstacles at real time. Actually we made the robot which has 20 DOF, 12 DOF in the two legs, 6 DOF in the two arms and each 1 DOF in the neck and waist, to realize human motions with minimal DOF, And we use the CATIA V5 for 3D modeling design and simulate.

  • A CCD camera with a laser stripe was applied to realize the automatic weld seam tracking in GMAW. It takes relatively long time to process image on-line control using the basic Hough transformation, but it has a tendency of robustness over the noises such as spatter and arc tight. For this reason, it was complemented with adaptive Hough transformation to have an on-line processing ability for scanning specific weld points. The adaptive Hough transformation was used to extract laser stripes and to obtain specific weld points. The 3-dimensional information obtained from the vision system made it possible to generate the weld torch path and to obtain the information such as width and depth of weld line. In this study, a neural network based on the generalized delta rule algorithm was adapted for the process control of GMA, such as welding speed, arc voltage and wire feeding speed.

  • In this study, self-tuning adaptive control using state observer is developed. Self-tuning adaptive controller that estimates the parameters of the system in real time and generates the optimal control signals has robust characteristic about varying load and external disturbances. In addition, state observer without sensors is applied, thus the control can be performed more quickly and exactly. Since chopper is used commonly in practical drives, the characteristics of the chopper are included in state observer algorithm, which, in turn, makes the system exact estimation. Since series type DC motor has nonlinear models, linearizing approach are investigated. to realize the proposed algorithm it requires fast calculation in real time. TMS320C31, digital signal processor, is applied to realized the adaptive control algorithms.
