Performance Improvement of Signature-based Traffic Classification System by Optimizing the Search Space (탐색공간 최적화를 통한 시그니쳐기반 트래픽 분석 시스템 성능향상)

  • The payload signature-based traffic classification system has to deal with large amount of traffic data, as the number of internet-based applications and network traffic continue to grow. While a number of pattern-matching algorithms have been proposed to improve processing speedin the literature, the performance of pattern matching algorithms is restrictive and depends on the features of its input data. In this paper, we studied how to optimize the search space in order to improve the processing speed of the payload signature-based traffic classification system. Also, the feasibility of our design choices was proved via experimental evaluation on our campus traffic trace.

  • In order to realize Intelligent Transport System (ITS) without any road facilities support, Inter-vehicle Communication (IVC) is increased attention. IVC makes it possible to exchange real-time information among vehicles without centralized infrastructure. The IVC systems use multi-hop broadcast to disseminate information. In this paper, we propose the improved AODV routing protocol based on location information. The proposed AODV routing protocol transmits Hello packet with location information to calculate the distance between nodes. Then it achieves fast link recovery. We confirm the throughput performance of the proposed AODV routing protocol compared with the AODV routing protocol using Qualnet ver.3.8 simulator.

  • This study is on the design and performance evaluation of a multi medium access control(MAC) protocol for multimedia access in the wireless ATM network. In general, MAC protocols for multimedia data transmission are classified into the fixed slot allocation algorithm that allocates base-station slots equally over terminals, and the dynamic slot allocation algorithm that with flexible penetration. The conventional slot allocation algorithms assign slots based on the average bandwidths required for various services types. Although the algorithms have a wide bandwidth for real-time-variant services, the slots are being wasted due the service types. To improve the slot waste problem, this thesis proposes a method that minimizes the waste by assigning variable slots based on the most appropriate bandwidth after a base-station analyzes the service type requested from terminals.

  • In this paper, we propose a ubiquitous Farming Diary System which can support the easy and reliable recording of a farming diary for the certificate on environment-friendly agricultural products by using the USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technologies. By using growth-related data, the system can also control farming facilities remotely and automatically. To achieve this goal, the UFDS(Ubiquitous Farming Diary System) is consisted with 3 layers. The first 'physical layer' can collect data from sensors, cameras and facilities then controls the growth environment based on the analyzed information. The second 'Middle layer' can process and store the data from 'physical layer' to sensor manager, image manager, control manager and diary manager separately. The third 'application layer' can provide growth-related services to users through various applications. The UFDS can recording grow history information automatically and Easily. Besides, the system can make an accurate and reliable farming diary with multimedia information such as motion and sound. Furthermore, environmental information such as temperature, humidity, luminance and soil conditions (soil temperature, soil humidity, soil EC) can be monitored in real-time and the facilities managed in remote sites.

  • 광 기반 네트워크 기술의 발전에 따라 Gbps 급의 대역폭을 요구하는 비입축 HD (high definition) 영상을 낮은 지연으로 전송하고 재생하는 것이 가능해지고 있다. 이를 위하여 다양한 비압축 HD 미디어 전송 시스템이 소개되어 왔으며, 이들은 일반적으로 RTP(Real-time Transport Protocol)에 기반으로 한 실시간 데이터 전송과 비압축 미디어 인터페이스를 효과적으로 결합하여 대화형으로 사용함에도 지장이 없는 저지연의 실감형 시스템을 지원하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 [4,5]에서 제안된 비압축 HD 미디어 시스템의 실감성을 향상시키기 위하여 9600 $\times$ 4800 해상도의 타일드 디스플레이를 통해 전송된 비압축 HD 영상을 재생할 수 있는 기법을 제시한다. 또한 실제 구현된 비압축 HD 영상과 타일드 디스플레이 간의 연동 실험을 통하여 제안된 결합 방식의 타당성을 확인하고, 그 결과로 얻어진 실감성 있는 미디어 서비스의 효용성을 입증한다.

  • Changes in internet and network environment make it possible to provide high-quality content services in real time. As demand for digital content is increased, problems related to intellectual property rights are getting more important. Streaming service like video-on-demand solved this problem by preventing content from being saved. But, as the advent of several tools able to save streamed content, the streamed content is not free from these problems any more. So, with security countermeasure like access control, new technologies to control and manage rights for content are needed. One of the solutions is DRM In this paper, we describe a DRM-based streaming service that can send the ASF stream which is the multimedia file format of Microsoft.

Implementation of ETI Adapter for Multimedia Service based on T-DMB (지상파 DMB 기반 멀티미디어 서비스용 ETI 어댑터 구현)

  • In this paper, implementation of an ensemble transport interface (ETI) adapter for multimedia services based on terrestrial-digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) is introduced. In general, ETI adapter should manipulate three functions: receiving packets packing multimedia data from service providers, configuring an ETI frame (G.703) from these data, and transmitting these frames to T-DMB multiplexer. To achieve these roles, the proposed ETI adapter consists of the network management module for data transmission and flow control between service providers and this adapter, the ETI configuration module for gathering data and then making ETI frames, and the hardware board for pushing ETI frames in real-time. The proposed adapter yielded faithful results without data lose on transmitting ETI frames to T-DMB multiplexer in the range of $64{\sim}1,153kbps$ specified in ETSI EN 300 401 after packing multimedia data received via Internet.

  • This paper proposes multicast routing algorithm that operates for non-interactive multimedia applications such as VOD(Video On Demand) and real-time data broadcasting. It is possible that there exist multiple senders in non-interactive multimedia applications. This paper designs multicast routing algorithm in this environment. The simulation of algorithm proposed in this paper shows much better performancetcost, delay) than that of only one source. To guarantee the performance of algorithm, Broadband ATM network is modelled in simulation.

  • Real-time applications like VoIP in mobile networks need smooth handovers in order to minimize or eliminate packet loss as a mobile host(MH) transitions between network links. In this paper, we design a new variable buffering mechanism for IPv6 by which an MH can request that the router on its current subnet buffers pad(eta on its behalf while the MH completes registration procedures with the router of a new subnet. Performance results show that our proposed queueing scheme with a variable space allocation is quite appropriate for mobile internet environment in terms of the packet loss rate.

  • This paper presents methods to design an integrated system for supporting both multimedia contents creations and its presentation in a windows system. Especially, it describes methods for designing an integrated editor that can be used to crate and edit various media data including continuous media such as audio and video. And it also proposes a system model for systematically integrating multimedia creating tool with multimedia presentation system where the heeling and scenario-based presentation methods are included in the propose system for supporting effective multimedia presentation through a network Finally, we describe a threads processing technique based on event monitoring to satisfy effectively needs for presentation control, synchronization control, and user's input control during a multimedia presentation.
