  • Thesedays, there are many smart device applications developed, especially on the using various sensors included in the smart device. Smart devices have several sensors which are camera, GPS, mike, and communication module for collecting ubiquitous environment, and many applications are developed by using such sensors. In this paper, we developed the multimedia stream architecture and examined the smart device applications based on open source with front and back-end server clouds for developing the conceptual architecture. Also, we examined the back-end distributed servers, realtime multimedia stream transferring, multi-media store, and media relay for other server and smart devices. We test the examined architecture on the real target environment to collect the SIP initial setup time, media stream delay, and end-to-end play time. The test results show that there have good network operation environment to provide realtime multimedia services, and we need to improve the end-to-end play time by minimizing the initial setup time.

  • A simulation tool for an optimal ATIS design and drivers' dynamic route choice behavior analysis is developed, which is applicable to urban networks. Due to the difficulty to make drivers feel the time pressure according to traffic conditions, current SP questionnaire survey type surveys have a limitation to capture correct driver reactions to real-time traffic Information provision. The simulator Is a web-based upgraded version, named WATiSim (Web-based ATIS Simulator), to quickly perform a wide population survey with a minimal cost using INTERNET Furthermore, the time pressure issue is lessened by its interface and simulation modules. After WATiSim mimicked a VMS based ATIS in a partial network of Seoul Metropolitan, reactions of drivers to various traffic conditions were surveyed through INTERNET and analyzed using a logit model. Drivers under the ATIS environment clearly understood the provided traffic information, and their reactions were closely related to traffic conditions, scheduled delay, trip purposes as well as toll charge if any.

  • Background: Chemotaxis is one of the cardinal functions of leukocytes, which enables them to be recruited efficiently to the right place at the right time. Analyzing chemotactic activities is important not only for the study on leukocyte migration but also for many other applications including development of new drugs interfering with the chemotactic process. However, there are many technical limitations in the conventional in vitro chemotaxis assays. Here we applied a new optical assay to investigate chemotactic activities induced in differentiated HL-60 cells. Methods: HL-60 cells were stimulated with 0.8% dimethylformamide (DMF) for 4 days. The cells were analyzed for morphology, flow cytometry as well as chemotactic activities by a time-lapse videomicroscopic assay using a chemotactic microchamber bearing a fibronectin-coated cover slip and an etched silicon chip. Results: Videomicroscopic observation of the real cellular motions in a stable concentration gradient of chemokines demonstrated that HL-60 cells showed chemotaxis to inflammatory chemokines (CCL3, CCL5 and CXCL8) and also a homeostatic chemokine (CXCL12) after DFM-induced differentiation to granulocytic cells. The cells moved randomly at a speed of $6.99{\pm}1.24{\mu}m/min$ (n=100) in the absence of chemokine. Chemokine stimulation induced directional migration of differentiated HL-60 cells, while they still wandered very much and significantly increased the moving speeds. Conclusion: The locomotive patterns of DMF-stimulated HL-60 cells can be analyzed in detail throughout the course of chemotaxis by the use of a time-lapse videomicroscopic assay. DMF-stimulated HL-60 cells may provide a convenient in vitro model for chemotactic studies of neutrophils.

  • In order to solve problems happening in the practical environment of complicated system, the importance of the self-adaptive system has recently begun to emerge. However, since the differences between the model built at the time of system design and the practical environment can lead the system into unpredictable situations, the study into methods of dealing with it is also emerging as an important issue. In this paper, we propose a method for deciding on the adaptation time in an uncertain environment, and reflecting the real-time environment in the system's model. The proposed method calculates the Bayesian Surprise for the suitable adaptation time by comparing previous and current states, and then reflects the result following the performed policy in the design model to help in deciding the proper policy for the actual environment. The suggested method is applied to a navigation system to confirm its effectiveness.

  • In this paper, we propose a non-intrusive load monitoring(NILM) system which can find the power of each home appliance from the aggregated total power as the activation in the trading market of the distributed resource and the increasing importance of energy management. We transform the amount of appliances' power into a power on-off state by preprocessing. We use LSTM as a model for predicting states based on these data. Accuracy is measured by comparing predicted states with real ones after postprocessing. In this paper, the accuracy is measured with the different number of electronic products, data postprocessing method, and Time step size. When the number of electronic products is 6, the data postprocessing method using the Round function is used, and Time step size is set to 6, the maximum accuracy can be obtained.

  • Thermal analysis properties and chemical structure of carbon fiber/epoxy composites under environmental exposure were examined using an accelerated aging tester which can simulate real weather conditions such as temperature, moisture and ultraviolet. The composite specimens were exposed to combined environmental factors up to 3000 hours. Thermal analysis properties and chemical structure of the composites were evaluated with various exposure times through Modulated DSC and FTIR. According to the results of Modulated DSC, the glass transition temperature increased as exposure time increased due to the formation of network structures in the composites. Also endotherm peaks of enthalpy relaxation related to physical aging that can affect the properties of the composites were observed as exposure time increased. From the results of FTIR, it was found that the location of the peaks was little affected by exposure time, but the intensity of the peaks slightly decreased as exposure time increased due to the curing reaction in the epoxy group.

  • Recently, many attempts have been made to reduce the time required for payment in various shopping environments. In addition, for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, artificial intelligence is advancing, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices are becoming more compact and cheaper. So, by integrating these two technologies, access to building an unmanned environment to save people time has become easier. In this paper, we propose a smart shopping cart system based on low-cost IoT equipment and deep-learning object-detection technology. The proposed smart cart system consists of a camera for real-time product detection, an ultrasonic sensor that acts as a trigger, a weight sensor to determine whether a product is put into or taken out of the shopping cart, an application for smartphones that provides a user interface for a virtual shopping cart, and a deep learning server where learned product data are stored. Communication between each module is through Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, a Hypertext Transmission Protocol network, a You Only Look Once darknet library, and an object detection system used by the server to recognize products. The user can check a list of items put into the smart cart via the smartphone app, and can automatically pay for them. The smart cart system proposed in this paper can be applied to unmanned stores with high cost-effectiveness.

  • This paper analyzes and proposes a scheme that improves the performance of the RTP that is developed to support the end-to-end transmission function and QoS monitor function for real-time multimedia data transmission. Although the existing RTP module supports real-time transmission, it has some problems in guaranteeing QoS parameters. To solve this problem, we propose a new Selective Repeat Adaptive Rate Control (SRARC). The SRARC can support QoS by referring to the data transmission status from the client and then classifying the network status into three levels. It selectively transmits multimedia data and dynamically controls transmission rates based on such information as bandwidth, packet loss rate, and latency that can be calculated in data transfer phase. To verify the SRARC, we implement it in real local area networks and compare the QoS parameters of the SRARC with those of the SR and RTP By the experimental results, the SRARC shows better performance in the aspects of bandwidth usage rate, packet loss rates, and transmission delays than the existing RTP schemes.

  • Recent developments in computer graphics technology and image processing technology have increased interest in point cloud technology for inputting real space and object information as three-dimensional data. In particular, point cloud technology can accurately provide spatial information, and has attracted a great deal of interest in the field of autonomous vehicles and AR (Augmented Reality)/VR (Virtual Reality). However, in order to provide users with 3D point cloud contents that require more data than conventional 2D images, various technology developments are required. In order to solve these problems, an international standardization organization, MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group), is in the process of discussing efficient compression and transmission schemes. In this paper, we provide a region division transfer method of 3D point cloud content through extension of existing MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP)-SRD (Spatial Relationship Description) technology, quality parameters are further defined in the signaling message so that the quality parameters can be selectively determined according to the user's request. We also design a verification platform for ROUTE (Real Time Object Delivery Over Unidirectional Transport)/DASH based heterogeneous network environment and use the results to validate the proposed technology.

  • Ubiquitos sensor network(USN) is a technology which is widely used in our life. This paper introduces an example of design and implementation for a system which is based on the USN technology and can provide an efficient management tool for a space that should be precisely controlled for a certain range of uniformity in temperature and humidity. This introduced system builds a wireless sensor network using a number of sensor modules that are equipped with temperature and humidity sensors, and collects temperature and humidity information in real-time while simultaneously providing a method for monitoring the status of temperature and humidity by the graphical user interface. Also, the system will give a warning signal if the monitored values are differ from the pre-specified values of temperature and humidity for each sensor module more than a certain amount of tolerance. This temperature and humidity logging and monitoring system can perform better management for the space easily and efficiently by automating the existing manual method for data collection and management. Furthermore, using the stored data, it can make possible to perform post-analysis on the problems caused by temperature and humidity and to obtain information for environmental enhancement for the space.
