  • Railway intelligent transportation systems and related Ministry of Land and rail operating agency's railway informatization planning of information technology, effective through the use of management strategies to establish or run to support the systematic informatization investment that you want to execute work in progress, during and yet the institutional informatization of operations mainly in the form of efficiency is Chinhae. Selection of each goal, because the direction of vision and ITS around the railroad center of road users by highlighting the benefits of the railroad's traffic information center user switching, real-time delivery of information diversity (enhanced content) that can increase the capacity of line train operating systems, enhancing the safety management system introduced in the monitoring system and is a railroad crossing. Because urban railway project in accordance with the goal of decreasing the annual rate of the train support, and the average passenger wait time savings, increased future demand for railway, rail safety, including securing the expected effects may occur.

Dynamic Speed Control of a Unicycle Robot (외바퀴 로봇의 동적 속도 제어)

  • This paper presents a new control algorithm for dynamic control of a unicycle robot. The unicycle robot motion consists of a pitch that is controlled by an in-wheel motor and a roll that is controlled by a reaction wheel pendulum. The unicycle robot doesn't have any actuator for a yaw axis control, which makes the derivation of the dynamics relatively simple. The Euler-Lagrange equation is applied to derive the dynamic equations of the unicycle robot to implement the dynamic speed control of the unicycle robot. To achieve the real time speed control of the unicycle robot, the sliding mode control and LQ regulator are utilized to guarantee the stability while maintaining the desired speed tracking performance. In the roll controller, the sigmoid-function based sliding mode controller has been adopted to minimize the chattering by the switching function. The LQR controller has been implemented for the pitch control to drive the unicycle robot to follow the desired velocity trajectory in real time using the state variables of pitch angle, angular velocity, angle and angular velocity of the wheel. The control performance of the two control systems form a single dynamic model has been demonstrated by the real experiments.

  • Recently, the utilization of the object tracking algorithm based on the deep learning model is increasing. A system for tracking multiple objects in an image is typically composed of a chain form of an object detection algorithm and an object tracking algorithm. However, chain-type systems composed of several modules require a high performance computing environment and have limitations in their application to actual applications. In this paper, we propose a method that enables real-time operation in low-performance computing environment by adjusting the computational process of object detection module in the object detection-tracking chain type system.

  • In this paper, we introduce fuzzy inference-based real-time deterioration diagnosis system with the aid of infrared thermal imaging camera. In the proposed system, the infrared thermal imaging camera monitors diagnostic field in real time and then checks state of deterioration at the same time. Temperature and variation of temperature obtained from the infrared thermal imaging camera variation are used as input variables. In addition to perform more efficient diagnosis, fuzzy inference algorithm is applied to the proposed system, and fuzzy rule is defined by If-then form and is expressed as lookup-table. While triangular membership function is used to estimate fuzzy set of input variables, that of output variable has singleton membership function. At last, state of deterioration in the present is determined based on output obtained through defuzzification. Experimental data acquired from deterioration generator and electric machinery are used in order to evaluate performance of the proposed system. And simulator is realized in order to confirm real-time state of diagnostic field

Efficient Hardware Implementation of Real-time Rectification using Adaptively Compressed LUT

  • Rectification is used as a preprocessing to reduce the computation complexity of disparity estimation. However, rectification also requires a complex computation. To minimize the computing complexity, rectification using a lookup-table (R-LUT) has been introduced. However, since, the R-LUT consumes large amount of memory, rectification with compressed LUT (R-CLUT) has been introduced. However, the more we reduce the memory consumption, the more we need decoding overhead. Therefore, we need to attain an acceptable trade-off between the size of LUT and decoding overhead. In this paper, we present such a trade-off by adaptively combining simple coding methods, such as differential coding, modified run-length coding (MRLE), and Huffman coding. Differential coding is applied to transform coordinate data into a differential form in order to further improve the coding efficiency along with Huffman coding for better stability and MRLE for better performance. Our experimental results verified that our coding scheme yields high performance with maintaining robustness. Our method showed about ranging from 1 % to 16 % lower average inverse of compression ratio than the existing methods. Moreover, we maintained low latency with tolerable hardware overhead for real-time implementation.

  • In CNC machining, a 3D(3-dimension) linear segment and a 2D(2-dimension) circular arc are general forms given by CAD/CAM system. Generally, the 2D circular arc machining is processed using dividing into some linear segments. A 3D circular arc also don't exist in the standard form of NC data. This paper present a algorithm and method for real-time machining of a circular arc(not only the 2D one, but also the 3D one). The 3D circular arc machining is based on the 2D circular arc machining. It only needs making a new coordinate system, converting given 3D points(a start point, a end point, and a center point of a 3D circular arc) into points of the new coordinate system, and processing a inverse transformation about a interpolated point. The proposed algorithm was implemented and simulated on PC system. It was confirmed to give a gcod result.

  • In this paper, we describe a real-time implementation of a multi-channel auido codec system that is based on the MPEG-1 audio algorithm. The major feature of this system is that it has a flexible multi-DSP system that can be adapted for various applications with using up to four TMS320C40 DSPs. The purpose of this paper is to present the problems of the system and is to describe the optimized methods to solve the problems in the view of hardware and software. Our audio codec is composed of an encoder an a decoder system and the bit rate of bitstream is up to 384 kbps. Fast input/output interfaces, DSP overloads, and inter-DSP communications methods with high speed are considered in multi-DSP H/W. Also, to run real-time in S/W, optimizing methods of algorithm are considered. After implementation of system, the subjective assessment method, and 'triple stimulus/hidden reference/double blind' that recommended by ITU-R TG10/3 is adopted for the quality of our system. All test items except one are awarded difference grades(diffgrade) better than 1-. Form the results, multi-channel audio system can be used for HDTV service.

Mesh-based Marching Cubes on the GPU (메시 기반 GPU 마칭큐브)

  • We propose a modified real-time marching cubes technique that extracts isosurfaces in the form of connected meshes instead of triangle soup. In this way, a various mesh-based isosurface rendering techniques can be implemented and additional information of the isosurfaces such as its topology can be extracted in real-time. In addition, we propose a real-time technique to extract adjacency-triangle structure for geometry shaders that can be used for various shading effects such as silhouette rendering. Compared with the previous technique that welds the output triangles of classical marching cubes, our technique shows up to 300% performance improvement.

Dense Downtown vs. Suburban Dispersed: A Pilot Study on Urban Sustainability

  • This paper presents the initial findings of a ground-breaking two-year CTBUH-funded research project investigating the real environmental and social sustainability of people's lifestyles in a number of high-rise residential towers in downtown Chicago, and a comparable number of low rise homes in suburban Oak Park, Chicago - based on actual energy bills and other real data. The study is ground-breaking because, to date, similar studies have been mostly based on very large data sets of generalized data regarding whole-city energy consumption, or large-scale transport patterns, which often misses important nuances. This study has thus prioritized quality of real data (based on around 250 households in both high rise and low rise case studies), over quantity. In both urban and suburban cases, the following factors have been assessed: (i) home operational energy use, (ii) embodied energy of the dwelling, (iii) home water consumption, (iv) mobility and transport movements, (v) urban/suburban Infrastructure, and (vi) quality of life. The full results of this seminal study will be published in the form of a CTBUH Research Report publication in 2017. Presented below is an overview of the initial (and, currently, unverified) findings of the research, together with the limitations of the study that should be taken into account, as well as future plans for developing this important pilot study.

A Computation Method for Time of Flight in the Anti-Aircraft Gun Fire Control System (대공화기 탄자비행시간 계산 기법)

  • In AAGFCS the effective range is regarded as a range for the bullet's speed exceeding the speed of sound to damage the stationary target. Hence the real engagement range might be extended over the effective range for the approaching target since bullet's relative speed to the target increases depending on the approaching speed. However previous TOF equations have good computation accuracy within the effective range only, and they can not be used above that range due to their bad accuracy. We propose an accurate TOF computation method which can be used both within and above the effective range in real time. Some simulation results are shown to demonstrate usefulness of our algorithm for the 30mm projectile.
