  • The influence of the concetration of the discharging agent on some properties of silk fabric dyed with reactive dyes studied. The tensile strength, yellow index and whiteness were investigated as parameters to determine the effect of the dischanging agent. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. The tensile strength and the yellow index decreased with the increase of the concentration of the discharging agents. 2. The whiteness depended on both of the type and the concentration of the discharging agent.

  • The synthesis of ester type, banana-shaped, photo - crosslinkable mesogens is described. The reactive mesogens, derivatives of 1,3-phenylene bis{4-[4'- (alken-1-yloxy)-biphenyl-4-carboxylate]benzoate}s, were synthesized varying the length of alkyl end groups. The obtained monomers and polymers were characterized by FT/IR, NMR spectroscopy, DSC, polarized optical microscopy, and X-ray diffractometry.

Deposition Optimization and Property Characterization of Copper-Oxide Thin Films Prepared by Reactive Sputtering

  • Copper-oxide (CuO) thin films were prepared by reactive sputtering of Cu onto Si wafers and characterized using a statistical design of experiments approach. The most significant factor in controlling the electrical resistivity and deposition rate was determined to be the $O_2$ fraction. The deposited CuO thin films were characterized in terms of their physical and chemical properties, using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and 4-point resistance measurements. The deposited copper thin films were characterized by XPS and XRD analyses to consist of $Cu^{2+}$. The CuO thin films of highest resistivity exhibited superior rectifying responses with regard to n-type Si wafers, with a current ratio of $3.8{\times}10^3$. These superior responses are believed to be associated with the formation of a charge-depletion region originating from the p-type CuO and n-type Si materials.

  • This paper presents a Static Var Compensator (SVC) system compensating the reactive power for power system, which consists of a voltage type Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) converter and a reactance linking the converter to the source. The system drives the four quadrant modes. The system determines the magnitude of the input voltage, and then compares it with the magnitude of the source voltage by regulating the phase of the SVC about the source. Therefore, the system generates leading compensation currents when the input voltage is larger than the source in magnitude, and lagging compensation currents for smaller input voltage. Reactive power about voluntary load in power system is smoothly compensated by those compensation currents, and also power factor of source is improved. Furthermore, the SVC system using PWM method may improve the source current waveforms by eliminating the 5th and 7th harmonic components from the input voltages.

  • This paper proposes a novel control method of voltage type current-controlled reactive/harmonic compensator. The proposed method does not rely on the explicit computation of load power, but indirectly controls the compensation current by regulating dc link voltage of the converter. It is shown that the system can be modeled as a simple linear system that facilitates an analytical approach to the system characteristics. With the model, the effects of the controller gains on the dynamic and steady state response of the system are investigated. Experimental results show that the proposed control method works well in spite of the simplicity of control circuitry.

  • This paper presents a simple method to compensate reactive/harmonic current components in power lines, with voltage type current controlled converter. The method proposed differs from conventional methods in that it does not rely on explict evaluation of active power. Instead, the closed-loop control of the do link voltage of the compensator plays a major role in adjusting the compensation current. It is shown that the system can be modelled as a simple linear system, which facilitates th analytical approach to the system characteristics. The dynamic performances are examined through the digital simulation and some aspects on the controller design are discussed. Experimental results showed good agreement with the anticipate performance

  • Using the self-evaluation test proposed by D. Girdano, et al., the psycological, and biological causes and personality factors of the stress of the nursing students of K university in local county are measured and analyzed. As fundamental data to overcome these kinds of stress, the overall stress profiles are proposed. The results of this study are ; 1) The freshman group is very susceptible to the stress due to the behavior type and anxiety-reactive personality. 2) The sophomore group is very susceptible to the stress due to frustration, the behavior type and anxiety-reactive personality. 3) Two groups are not susceptible to the stress due to diet and noise. Since the stress is the multi-dimensional phenomena, it is necessary to reduce these stress that the life style of each Individual students be changed and the curriculm and the teaching methodology in nursing school be developed.

새로운 non-apoptotic 세포사멸: ferroptosis (Novel non-apoptotic cell death: ferroptosis)

  • Ferroptosis is a newly recognized type of cell death that results from iron-dependent lipid peroxidation and is different from other types of cell death, such as apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagic cell death. This type of cell death is characterized by mitochondrial shrinkage with an increased mitochondrial membrane density and outer mitochondrial membrane rupture. Ferroptosis can be induced by a loss of activity of system $X_c{^-}$ and the inhibition of glutathione peroxidase 4, followed by the accumulation of lipid reactive oxygen species (ROS). In addition, inactivation of the mevalonate and transsulfuration pathways is involved in the induction of ferroptosis. Moreover, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase and p53 promote ferroptosis by increasing ROS production, while heat shock protein beta-1 and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 inhibit ferroptosis by reducing iron uptake. This article outlines the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways of ferroptosis regulation, and explains the roles of ferroptosis in human disease.

升麻葛根湯加味方이 마우스의 抗 ALLERGY 및 免疫反應에 미치는 影響 (The effects of Seungmagalgeuntang-gamibang on the anti-allergic and immune response to mice)

  • Seungmagalgeuntang-gamibang has long been known to have anti-allergic effect. However, the mechanism of action of Seungmagalgeuntang-gamibang is not well investigated. The author analysed the effects of Seungmagalgeuntang-gamibang on the vascular permeability, delayed-type and contact hypersensitivities, and phagocytic function, the results obtained are as follows: 1. Administration of Seungmagalgeungtang-gamibang decreased the vascular permeability induced by serotonin in the mouse. 2. Administration of Seungmagalgeuntang-gamibang decreased the vascular permeability induced by histamine without statistical significant. 3. Administration of Seungmagalgeuntang-gamibang decreased the delayed-type hypersensitivity induced by sheep red blood cells. 4. Administration of Seungmagalgeungtang-gamibang decreased the contact hypersensitivity induced by dinitrochlorobenzene. 5. Seungmagalgeungtang-gamibang increased the phagocytic-activities of macrophages in vitro and in vivo. 6. Seungmagalgeungtang-gamibang enhanced the formation of reactive oxygen intermediates in vitro and in vivo. The above results demonstrate that Seungmagalgeuntang-gamibang suppresses the hypersensitivity reactions with increasing the phagocytic functions and formations of reactive oxygen intermediates from macrophages.

  • Applications of electrolytic ion water generated by the oxidation-reduction have gradually been expanded due to their strong sterilizing power and a surface active force. We demonstrate the effect of the multi-layer type electrode for effective ion water generation. The multi-layer type electrode has ability to generate stronger acid and alkali water by increase of the electrode reactive area. Also power consumption efficiency enhances because the electrodes disposed in middle position of the reactive cell raise the usage rate by overlapped effect as an electrolysis electrode.
