  • Hydrosilanes possessing reactive Si-H bond are used in synthesizing various types of polysilanes by dehydrocoupling under the influence of various organometallic promoters. Catalytic Si-Si/Si-O coupling of hydrosilanes with hydrosilanes, alcohols, and lactones to silicon-based polymers are described in this article as selective examples of our recent research developments. These silicon-containing polymers can be used as a precursor to prepare useful functional materials for fabricating electronic devices.

  • This study is motivated by the discrepancies found in previous studies that compared the observed photochemically reactive species in the marine boundary layer (MBL) with the model simulations. In particular, HCHO was underpredicted in PEM-Tropics (B) and overpredicted in TRACE-A, $H_2O$$_2$ overpredicted, $CH_3$OOH overpredicted, and $CH_3$OH significantly overpredicted (Thompson et al., 1993; Heikes et at., 1996; Davis et al., 1996; Jacob et al., 1996; Schultz et al., 1997; Suhre et al., 1998). • Despite enduring diverse insults, mitochondria maintain normal functions through mitochondrial quality control. However, the failure of mitochondrial quality control resulting from excess damage and mechanical defects causes mitochondrial dysfunction, leading to various human diseases. Recent studies have reported that mitochondrial defects are found in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and worsen AD symptoms. In AD pathogenesis, mitochondrial dysfunction-driven generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and their contribution to neuronal damage has been widely studied. In contrast, studies on mitochondrial dysfunction-associated inflammatory responses have been relatively scarce. Moreover, ROS produced upon failure of mitochondrial quality control may be linked to the inflammatory response and influence the progression of AD. Thus, this review will focus on inflammatory pathways that are associated with and initiated through defective mitochondria and will summarize recent progress on the role of mitochondria-mediated inflammation in AD. We will also discuss how reducing mitochondrial dysfunction-mediated inflammation could affect AD.

  • SrBi$_2$Ta$_2$$O_{9}$ thin films were etched at high-density C1$_2$/CF$_{4}$/Ar in inductively coupled plasma system. The etching of SBT thin films in C1$_2$/CF$_{4}$/Ar were chemically assisted reactive ion etching. The maximum etch rate was 1300 $\AA$/min at 900W in Cl$_2$(20)/CF$_4$(20)/Ar(80). As f power increase, radicals (F, Cl) and ion(Ar) increase. The influence of plasma induced damage during etching process was investigated in terms of the surface morphology and th phase of X-ray diffraction. The chemical residue was investigated with secondary ion mass spectrometry.y.

  • Large capacity reactive power compensation and harmonic control in the low-voltage grid of an enterprise, are important technical means to improve power quality and reduce power loss. In this paper, the principle of an efficient power quality controller is analyzed. Then, key application technologies of the HPQC which would influence the performances of the HPQC are studied. Based on an analysis of the harmonic shunt problem, a frequency dividing control strategy of the HPQC continuous subsystem is proposed. A parameter design method of the HPQC discrete subsystem and its installation method are also proposed to ensure the system compensation effect. HPQC systems have been designed for a copper foil plant. The effectiveness of this paper has been verified by the simulation and application results.

  • The dielectric carbon nitride thin films were deposited onto Si(100) substrate using a pulsed laser ablation of pure graphite target combined with a high voltage discharge plasma in the presence of a N$_2$ reactive gas. We calculated dielectric constant, $\varepsilon$$\_$s/, with a capacitance Schering bridge method. We investigated the influence of the laser ablation of graphite target and DC high voltage source for the plasma. The properties of the deposited carbon nitride thin films were influenced by the high voltage source during the film growth. Deposition rate of carbon nitride films were increased drastically with the increase of high voltage source. Infrared absorption clearly shows the existence of C=N bonds and C=N bonds. The carbon nitride thin films were observed crystalline phase confirmed by x-ray diffraction data.

  • Tungsten nanopowders were produced by the method of wires electrical explosion in the different gases. The study of phase and dispersed composition of the powders was carried out. The influence of electrical parameters such as the value of energy input in wire and the arc stage of the explosion was discussed. The factors that make for decreasing the particles size are the lower pressure of surrounding gas and the use of addition of chemically reactive gas.

  • A study on the active center of the acid protease from Penicillium sp. was conducted, and also the milk clotting activity of acid prorease was measured. 1. PCMB failed to influence the proteolytic activity of acid protease, indicating that a reactive sulfhydryl group is not required for the enzymatic activity. 2. $\varepsilon$-amino caproic acid did not show any inhibitory effect on tile proteolytic activity of acid protease. 3. Also 2, 4-dinitro phenol did not show any inhibitory effect on the enzyme activity. 4. Acid protease from Penicillium sp. showed a strong milk clotting activity in the presence of Ca ion. 5. This enzyme had a strong proteolytic activity on various substrate, such as casein, denatured hemoglobin, ovalbumin, denatured bovine muscle protein, denatured percine muscle protein and denatured chicken muscle protein.

  • Measurement of network traffic have shown that the self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. In previous work, we have explored the feasibility of exploiting the long-range correlation structure in a self-similar traffic for the congestion control. we show that a multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with proactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of the three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance.

  • Measurement of network traffic have shown that the self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. In previous work, we have explored the feasibility of exploiting the long-range correlation structure in a self-similar traffic for the congestion control. We have advanced the framework of the multiple time scale congestion control and showed its effectiveness at enhancing performance for the rate-based feedback control. Our contribution is threefold. First, we define a modular extension of the TCP-a function called with a simple interface-that applies to various flavours of the TCP-e.g., Tahoe, Reno, Vegas and show that it significantly improves performance. Second, we show that a multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with proactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of the three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance.
