  • In this paper, we propose an efficient seamless handoff scheme to minimize packet loss and unnecessary packets on the Internet using the peculiar mobility characteristics of public vehicles such as trains. MR (Mobile Router) in a train visits each AR (Access Router) in the fixed order. As the MR detects reachability to the NAR (Next Access Router) on the new link, the PAR (Previous Access Router) can directly deliver packets from MR's HA (Home Agent) to the NAR according to the HML (Handoff Mobile router List). Then. the NAR buffers them until the MR finishes L3 (Layer 3) handoff procedure with the NAR. Therefore, our scheme can support a seamless handoff without the packet loss and unnecessary packets on the Internet. The result of our performance evaluation has shown that the proposed scheme could provide excellent performance, compared with the NEMO basic support protocol and the Bi-casting protocol.

  • The present study evaluated a preliminary control room (CR) design of radioactive waste facility using the $JACK^{(R)}$ human simulation system. Four digital humanoids ($5^{th}$, $50^{th}$, $95^{th}$, and $99^{th}$ percentiles) were used in the ergonomic evaluation. The first three were selected to represent 90% of the target population (Korean males aged 20 to 50 years) and the last to reflect the secular trend of stature for next 20 years in South Korea. The preliminary CR design was assessed by checking its compliance to ergonomic guidelines specified in NUREG-0700 and conducting an in-depth ergonomic analysis with a digital prototype of the CR design and the digital humanoids in terms of postural comfort, reachability, visibility, and clearance. For identified design problems, proper design changes and their validities were examined using JACK. A revised CR design suggested in the present study would contribute to effective and safe operations of the CR as well as operators' health in the workplace.

  • Bilateration using two fixed nodes has been used in the field of the real time indoor location system in the narrow space such as building or ship passage. However, as the distance between the fixed nodes increases or any obstructions exist in their zone, it is difficult to detect the location of mobile node(user) due to the degradation of its reception ratio. In order to compensate for these problems, this paper presents, based on IEEE 802.15.4a chirp signal, a new real time indoor location system using stride measurement algorithm which can calculate the location through sensors attached to user. The proposed system consists of an ultrasonic sensor to measure the leg length, a geomagnetic sensor to recognize the user's orientation, and an inertial sensor to obtain the angle between the legs. The experimental results are shown that the proposed system has twice or more accurate output compared with conventional indoor location method in the section which is partially out of communication reachability.

  • In this paper, our goal is to design the controller which operates a manufacturing system, discrete event system, guaranteeing user specification. In specially, based on supervisory control theory W. M. Wonham, our work consists in performing the controller using Petri nets possible parallelism. In addition, we consider the problem of allocation for resources sharing of the issues to consider when designing using Petri net. The controller can be generated by synthesis of user specification model and plant model after giving the management for the resource sharing. This created controller can control the deadlock and starvation which can occur in the case with resource sharing. Previous studies proposed the Constrained Synchronous Reachability graph to synthesis of the two Petri nets models. Therefore, we provide the controlled system which forbids a deadlock and starvation using the result of previous studies.

  • For efficient operation, vital hand controls must be easily controlled by the operator from his or her normal working position. The primary working area based on the operator-perceived working comfort was developed to serve as a design guideline to the control panel layout. Six male and four female subjects voluntarily participated in the experiment in which working comfort was measured for two types of controls - knob and lever. The operator-perceived working comfort was examined for the frontal and sagittal distances from the body center and the slope of a work surface. The response surface methodology using a central composite design was employed to develop a prediction model for operator's working comfort on each type of controls. The proposed working areas based on the actual working comfort of an operator avoided the dichotomy that considers only the reachability of control devices, and showed a distinct shape, when compared to the existing normal working areas following the Farley's concept. It was shown that the distance from the body to control devices and the slope of a work surface have a quadratic relationship to the working comfort, and that the most comfortable area for seated tasks is located at the distance of about 2∼4 cm in the sagittal direction and about 42∼43 cm in the frontal direction from the shoulder, respectively. It was also found that the working comfort varies within the working area even at the positions with an equal distance from the body. It is expected that the isocomfort working area generated in the study will be used as a useful guideline for control panel layout.

  • This paper uses counterexamples for solving reachability games. An objective. of the game we consider here is to find out a minimal path from an initial state to the goal state. We represent initial states and game rules as finite state model and the goal state as temporal logic formula. Then, model checking is used to determine whether the model satisfies the formula. In case the model does not satisfy the formula, model checking generates a counterexample that shows how to reach the goal state from an initial state. In this way, we solve many of small-sized Push Push games. However, we cannot handle larger-sized games due to the state explosion problem. To mitigate the problem, abstraction is used to reduce the state space to be che cked. As a result, unsolved games are solved with the abstraction technique we propose inthis paper.

  • A buoy is a float attached by chain to the seabed to mark channels in a harbor or underwater hazards and can be classified into two major types as autonomous buoys and fixed buoys. When there is high demand such as marking channels in a harbor, monitoring ecology of ocean and environmental monitoring of coastal areas, smart buoys are developed. The smart buoys have wireless network systems such as GPS, CDMA and ZigBee. Using the GPS techniques, location and environments of buoy can be monitored and traced. However, the GPS in fixed buoy systems has a high power consumption and cost. Using many buoys on low power ZigBee basis allows dramatic reduction of the overall power consumption. In this study, it is aimed at the design of the trackable protocol for a buoy system which has low data rate and low power consumption. The proposed protocol has advantages that it can detect abnormal movement and gather trackable information without any system changes. In the introduced protocol, additional 2 bits and join request messages are used for trackable buoy system. The behaviors of improved protocol is modeled into petri-net and proved a reachability.

  • Colored thread algorithm, suggested to be used for the label switching network, needs to be modified for the packet switching network. In this paper, it is recommended to add a merged state, besides the 3 states - null, colored and transparent - which are resulted from the behaviors of extend, rewind, stall, withdraw and merge events. The original colored thread algorithm is designed to generate a new thread and extend it to the downstream direction with unknown hop count when the thread has revisited the node that was visited. It also suggested rewinding the thread to the downstream direction by the source node, instead of rewinding it upstream direction by the revisited node. If a node received multiple threads which had a same forward equivalent class, then it checks first whether the hop counts are ascending or not. If it is in ascending order, then threads are merged. Otherwise the later thread is stalled until the former thread's color is to be changed to transparent or it is removed. This idea removes the effort of generating a new thread with unknown hop count.

  • Multilateration that consists of three or more fixed nodes has been widely used in the field of indoor real time location system(RTLS). However, when one or two among fixed nodes are partially out of communication reachability due to obstruction and unstable node, it is difficult to obtain an efficient location information. In order to improve the challenges of poor ranging measurements and fluctuations in these environment, this paper presents, based on TOF(Time of Flight), a new algorithm which can reduce the inherent ranging measurements errors in the conventional multilateration using a vector prediction algorithm for the displacement estimation of mobile node and Kalman filter for an efficient distance average. Even if a person moves with mobile node and then it fails ranging measurement from some of fixed nodes, the proposed algorithm using a present and previous measurement value can predict the distance between mobile node and fixed node which fails ranging measurement. The experimental results are shown that the proposed system improves the localization accuracy and efficiency compared with conventional method, respectively.

  • In this paper, we present a modeling method for the real-time systems. This method is based on the DARTS (Design Approach for Real-Time Systems) and widely extended to analysis phase. The DARTS method provides a good guideline for the real -time software design, but it uses structured analysis and does not provide a specification language. So. this paper provides extended DARTS modeling techniques to the analysis area based on the objects. Internal behavior of system showed by means of a NPN (Numerical Petri Net) for analysis, and the specification language is provided based on the temporal logic for transition synchronization sequence control. By the example, we identified the proposed method was applied well. And through the reachability graph, we verified whether the deadlocks may occur or not in the analysis phase before the design phase. Thus. it gives easy way to analysis, so that it will lead to the design phase naturally.
