  • This paper describes work on isolation of vibration related engine by a hydraulic engine mount with controllable area of inertia track. Automotive engine mounts are required to constrain motion of engine shake resulting from low-frequency road input of shock excitation and also to isolate noise and vibration generated by the engine with unbalanced disturbance at the high frequency range. The property of the mount depends on vibration amplitude and excitation frequency, which means that the excitation amplitude is large in low excitation frequency range and small in high frequency range. In this paper, theoretical works with model of the mount to reduce vibrations related engine were conducted. The volumetric stiffness of the mount is greatly changed according to the switching the area of the inertia track. Therefore, when the area of the inertia track is tuned, the transmissibility of the mount is effectively reduced.

  • In this study, friction stick-slip vibration're interpretation of the phenomenon, we used a statistical model of friction. In a previous study using a definite friction factor, but to a dynamic simulation using a constantly changing during the integration time by a Monte Carlo simulation method, not the average coefficient of friction and the dynamic friction coefficient and a constant value in this study.

  • As bridge design is advancing toward the performance-based design. it becomes increasingly important to monitor and re-evaluate the long-term structural performance of bridges. Such information is essential in developing performance criteria for design. In this research. sensor systems for long-term structural performance monitoring have been installed on two highway bridges. Pre1iminary vibration measurement and data analysis have been performed on these instrumented bridges. On one bridge, ambient vibration data have been collected. based on which natural frequencies and mode shapes have been extracted using various methods and compared with those obtained by the preliminary finite element analysis. On the other bridge, braking and bumping vibration tests have been carried out using a water truck In addition to ambient vibration tests. Natural frequencies and mode shapes have been derived and the results by the breaking and bumping vibration tests have been compared. For the development of a three dimensional baseline finite element model, the new methodology using a neural network is proposed. The proposed one have been verified and applied to develop the baseline model of the bridge.

  • Today, although there have been high technical developments of a compressor in the respect of its capacity, it has been so hard to develop in the respect of vibration and noise because mechanical structure of it has originally numerous vibration and noise. However, if we can grasp the point of systematic phenomena of vibration and noise through the understanding of dynamic characteristics in mechanical equipment, it may be possible to consider countermeasures. In this study about a reciprocal compressor, the part of its machinery is modeled as rigid body, and the part of its spring is modeled as flexible body, and then they are analyzed by DADS. Each rigid body and spring are connected with joint torque of a motor is applied to shaft, and pressure is applied to a piston so that a compressor can be revolved. Based on this modeling, influence of a compressor's vibration is analyzed through changes of offset, connecting rod and crank radius In the case of weight balance, it I produced after re-design, and then changes of vibration of a compressor's inside are checked through experiments. These analysis data may help set measures of reducing vibration of a reciprocal compressor.

  • This paper presents an efficient modeling method fur open cracked beam structures. An equivalent bending spring model is introduced to represent the structural weakening effect in the presence of open cracks. The proposed method adopts the exact dynamic element method (EDEM) to avoid the difficulty and numerical errors in association with re-meshing the structure. The proposed method is rigorously compared with a commercial finite element code. (omitted)

  • We investigated the Reynolds number effects on the flow over a twisted offshore structure in the range of 3×103≤ Re ≤ 1 × 104. To analyze the effect of the twisted surface treatment, a large eddy simulation (LES) with a dynamic subgrid model was employed. A simulation of the cylindrical structure was also carried out to compare the results with those of the twisted offshore structure. As Re increased, the mean drag and lift coefficient of the twisted offshore structure increased with the same tendency as those of the cylindrical structure. However, the increases in the mean drag and lift coefficient of the twisted offshore structure were much smaller than those of the cylindrical structure. Furthermore, elongated shear layer and suppressed vortex shedding from the twisted offshore structure occurred compared to those of the cylindrical cylinder, resulting in a drag reduction and suppression of the vortex-induced vibration (VIV). In particular, the twisted offshore structure achieved a significant reduction of over 96% in VIV compared with that of the cylindrical structure, regardless of increasing Re. As a result, we concluded that the twisted offshore structure effectively controlled the flow structures with reductions in the drag and VIV compared with the cylindrical structure, irrespective of increasing Re.

  • This study analyzed air suspension seat frame structure and vibration for 50 - 180 kg mass driver to obtain optimum seat design parameter values for the equivalent spring constant and damping coefficient. Various air suspension seat frames were designed following WTS-003 and KS B 6839 standards, and then evaluated using finite elements analysis. Resonance and vibration tests were performed according to the 78/764/EEC standard.

  • A domestic's freight stock is about 14,000 cars. Most of them is consisted of casting bogie type. Casting bogie type has some problems such as maintenance, part abrasion, running safety etc. Now a day casting bogie type have replaced with welded type bogie for high speed. The maximum speed of the container freight car is 70km/h limit at empty weight condition in case of casting type bogie frame. So there are some difficulty in commercial service for high speed coaches. Then we should re-decide whether the casting bogie type has speed up 90km/h limit at empty weight through out the vibration characteristic.

  • For small earth observation satellites, alignment between the optical components is important for precise observation. However, satellite cameras are structurally subject to misalignment in the launch environment where vibration excitations and impacts apply, and in space environments where zero gravity, vacuum, radiant heat and degassing occur. All of these variables can cause misalignment among the optical components. The misalignment among optical components results in degradation of image quality, and a re-alignment process is needed to compensate for the misalignment. This process of re-alignment between optical components is referred to as a refocusing process. In this paper, we proposed a 3 - axis focusing mechanism to perform the refocusing process. This mechanism is attached to the back of the secondary mirror and consists of three piezoelectric inertia-friction actuators to compensate the x-axis, y-axis tilt, and de-space through three-axis motion. The fabricated focus mechanism demonstrated excellent servo performance by experimenting with PD servo control.

  • Electro-Mechanical Actuator installed on aircraft consists of a decelerator which magnifies the torque to rotate an axis connected with aircraft control surface, a control section which controls the motor assembly through receiving orders from cockpit and a motor assembly which rotates the decelerator. EMA controls aircraft attitued, position, landing, takeoff, etc. It is important part of a aircraft. Aircraft maneuvering make vibration of EMA. Vibration may cause the vibration fatigue. For that reason, it is necessary to analyze the system safety. In this paper, first EMA is modeled in finite element method and analyzed the response from input vibration. second EMA is tested and analyzed from modal experimental data. third EMA Fe model is updated and re analyzed. and EMA is verified safety with $3{\sigma}$ stress and S/N curves.
