This study presents basic knitted fabric data on the use of ply yarn with rayon yarn and eco-friendly/high-valued Hanji yarn. Physical properties (gauge, thickness, burst strength, air permeability, stiffness, Qmax, dimensional stability and surface image) of Hanji 100%, rayon 100% and Hanji/rayon 50:50 knitted fabrics are investigated. The results are as follows. Course direction of gauge decrease in the following order: rayon 100% > Hanji/rayon 50/50 > Hanji 100%. In addition wale direction of gauge decrease in the following order: Hanji 100% > Hanji/rayon 50/50 > rayon 50/50. Thickness and air permeability decrease in the following order: Hanji 100% > Hanji/rayon 50/50 > rayon 100%. Burst strength decrease in the following order: rayon 100% > Hanji 100% > Hanji/rayon 50/50. Stiffness and Qmax decrease in the following order: rayon 100% > Hanji/rayon 50/50 > Hanji 100%. Laundry for dimensional stability is knitted fabric with Hanji/rayon 50/50 than rayon 100% and Hanji 100% improved using neutral detergent and stable at $20^{\circ}C$. From surface image observation, the cracks of Hanji 100% and fibrils of rayon 100% decrease when using knitted fabric with Hanji/rayon 50/50.

Kenaf was cultivated and harvested in large quantity in Cheju Island and Chinju, Kyungsangnamdo. It was chemically rotted with 3% NaOH for 60 minutes at 100$^{\circ}C$, neutralized using 1% acetic acid, washed and dried, and obtained 40kg of dry kenaf fiber. Kenaf 15/rayon 85, flax 15/rayon 85, and rayon 100% yam was spun and the physical characteristics were measured. Plain weave and twill weave fabrics were made using each of the above yarns as the filling yam. Cotton 100% yam was used as the warp yam in all fabrics. Kenaf/rayon blend yarns were higher in tenacity and elongation, lower in yam uniformity, higher in the number of nep than the flax/rayon blended yams. Kenaf/rayon blend fabric had higher tenacity and elongation compared to the flax/rayon blend fabric Kenaf/rayon blend fabric was most stiff in both plain weave and twill weave fabrics whereas drape characteristics was dependent upon the fabric structure of the kenaf/rayon blend and flax/rayon blend. There were little differences between the kenaf/rayon blend fabric and the flax/rayon blend fabric in the Kawabata physical measurements and the PHVs. The only drawback of kenaf fiber was it's surface roughness and it is expected that it can be improved by enzyme retting and mechanical bundle separation.

Viscose rayon is not a thermoplastic yarns, but it was deformed with the heat in this study. Therefore, bulky rayon yarn was developed by modifying the shrinkage for rayon and reviling the micro crimp of the rayon, and finally, span knit was developed with bulky rayon yarns.
The aim of this study is to define the condition of optimal pre-treatment for preferable activated carbon fibers (ACFs), which are based on rayon fibers. This paper shows the ideal path of ACFs preparation process; implies that rayon fibers are pre-treated by various solvents with different times before the heating process. The pre-treated rayon fibers finally turned into desirable rayon fiber-based ACFs through optimal pre-treatment condition by heating processes. The thermal analysis method of pre-treated rayon fibers by thermo-gravimetry analyser (TGA) is an idealized tool, which analyzes the best thermal condition of pre-treatment process. Surface morphologies of resulting rayon fibers based ACFs were examined by scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results of TGA and SEM analyses show that the optimal pre-treatment condition for preparing ACFs was clearly defined, in terms of thermal stability and surface morphology.

This study uses a documentary survey, field survey and textile's characteristics to understand the history of the Punggi Viscose Rayon. Punggi's textile industry grew as people migrated from Pyeongan Province in the 1900s. Little is known regarding early production conditions, but documents show cottage industries in the 1940s made union cloth using silk and rayon. The Punggi weaving industry peaked after the Korean War and declined in the late 1950s. Punggi rayon at that time was mainly used for lingerie or lining, with miliary or polka dot patterns. The industry regained momentum when the power loom was introduced in the 1960s. Manufacturers also started weaving union cloth with synthetic fibers and rayon. In the 1990s, jacquard looms enabled the weaving of elaborately colored and patterned textiles for outer fabric that made Punggi rayon famous. Most Punggi rayon looms have developed in the order of manual handlooms, semiautomatic looms, Jokdapgi, to power looms. Looms equipped with dobbies or jacquard devices also changed from wooden dobby looms to wooden jacquard looms and then to iron jacquard looms. Punggi Rayon currently has its own trademark and tag, but lacks specific regulations on the blending of fibers.
This study investigated the substantivity of anionic dyes for cationic-modified new rayon (cocell) fabric treated with cationic agent (CA), 3-(Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)-trimethylammonium chloride (CA). We also investigate the dyeability of cationic-modified new rayon fabric after dyeing with gallut. CA was converted in an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide into epoxypropyl trimethylammonium chloride. Treating with this epoxy reagent modified the hydroxyl groups of the new rayon fabric into the trimethylammonium group through ether linkage. The introduction of new cationic sites into new rayon fabric by pretreating with cationic agent improved the substantivity of the Gallnut dye with the new rayon dyebath. The degree of the cationization of cationic-modified new rayon and cotton fabric was evaluated by nitrogen (N) content. This study extracted the colorant of gallnut with hot water at $90^{\circ}C$ and 120 min. Cationic-modified new rayon fabric dyed with extracted solution from gallnut according to concentration of gallnut, dyeing temperature, dyeing time and concentration of cationic agent. Dyeability (K/S) was obtained by CCM observation after dyeing with gallut solution. In addition, fastness to washing and light were also investigated. The degree of crystallinity of new rayon and cotton fabric were 42.15% and 54.94%, respectively. N (%) content of cationic-modified new rayon was higher than the cationic-modified cotton. Dyeability (K/S) increased significantly with the increasing concentration of CA and gallut.
Viscose rayon has advantages such as vivid luster, good dyeability, low static electricity, good absorbance and good spinnability but also has flaws such as easy crease and decrease of physical properties when it gets wetting, and it requires dry cleaning. Therefore in order to synthesize the polymer to solve the problems of rayon while keeping the advantages of it, this study made the high specific gravity polyester for ultra drape property and high contraction polyester for rayon-like fiber having volume, soft and warm sense. The polyester with high specific gravity, 1.47 was made by adding 7 wt% of $BaSO_4$ as additive. High contraction polyester was made by copolymerization by using IPA 5 mole% to increase the amorphous region as comonomer and also using Newpol BPE-20(NPE) 1.5 wt% not to decrease the properties.
In the present study, fast isothermal stabilization processes for rayon precursor fabrics were performed at $350^{\circ}C$ and $400^{\circ}C$ within 3 minutes and the chemical and physical characteristics of the stabilized fabrics were investigated. In addition, rayon precursor fabrics were pre-treated with three different phosphorous-based flame retardants and then stabilized. The effect of flame retardants on the chemical composition, thermal shrinkage, weight change, thermal stability and XRD results was examined, comparing with those of the precursor fabrics. The result showed that the stabilization of rayon fabrics was most effective as the stabilization temperature was $350^{\circ}C$, the stabilization time was 3 min, and the pre-treatment with phosphoric acid of 1 vol%. The carbon contents of stabilized rayon fabrics were increased with increasing stabilization temperature and time, whereas the oxygen contents were decreased. Also, it is likely that the pre-treatment with phosphoric acid plays a role in retarding the change of chemical structure of rayon fabric. The XRD result was quite consistent with the result showing the effect of phosphoric acid on the chemical composition, thermal shrinkage and weight reduction of rayon fabric.

The water-vapor sorption isotherms of viscose rayon and of modified viscose rayon were studied to elucidate the change of sorptivity by the DMDHEU resin finish. To determine the sorption isotherms, moisture regains of the samples were measured at various humidities. The sorption isotherms were determined by the BET and GAB multilayer adsorption theories. The adsorption isotherm of the starting rayon was Brunauer Type II while with increasing resin content those of the DMDHEU-treated rayon became progressively more like Type IV. The DMDHEU-treated samples appeared to be hydrophilic due to the hydrophilicity of DMDHEU although moisture regains at higher humidities markedly decreased because of an impediment in swelling by crosslinkings. The $W_{m}$ value and surface area of crosslinked samples increased with increasing resin content. VR-R-6 which was the most heavily crosslinked viscose rayon had the highest $W_{m}$ and surface area values among all the samples. Relative sorption hysteresis was decreased as humidity increased for all samples. The untreated viscose rayon appeared to have a higher value than the DMDHEU-treated rayon.
Rayon fiber as clothing material has silk-like property which relates to other synthetic fibers. It has many advantages that is required to women's clothes. However rayon has many shortcomings. Therefore this research is to spin rayon-like polyester which has high contraction property to be synthesized by previous research to solve those shortcomings and to maintain advantages of rayon. The contraction ratio of regular polyester is 30% and the contraction ratio of this synthesized polyester is over 60%. The spinning temperature of regular polyester ranges from $285^{\circ}C$ to $300^{\circ}C$. However, this copolymer is set range from $270^{\circ}C$ to $290^{\circ}C$, which is $10^{\circ}C$ less than regular polyester due to decreasing melting temperature. The spinning velocity effects the tensile strength and elongation of yarn magnificently. The high velocity of spinning makes yarn highly oriented, increases the tensile strength and decreases the elongation. This research defines the condition as following; draw ratio 2.734, First roller temperature $85^{\circ}C$, Slit heater temperature $175^{\circ}C$.
