In general, most incomplete communication link setup between satellite and ground station right after separation from launcher come from less accurate orbital vector ground station uses to track the satellite because only predicted orbital state vector is available during first few orbits. This paper describes the developed procedure for successful initial acquisition for KOMPSAT-2 using scanning functions ofK13 antenna system with predicted orbital information. Azimuth scan, raster scan, spiral scan functions were tested with KOMPSA Tl under intentionally degraded orbital information for antenna operation. Through tests, spiral scan function was decided to be best search scan among 3 scans. Developed procedure can assure the successful acquisition only if azimuth offset and time offset value are within +/-2deg and +/-30sec, respectively.
Recently a multilayer spectral inversion (MLSI) model has been proposed to infer the physical parameters of plasmas in the solar chromosphere. The inversion solves a three-layer radiative transfer model using the strong absorption line profiles, H alpha and Ca II 8542 Å, taken by the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS). The model successfully provides the physical plasma parameters, such as source functions, Doppler velocities, and Doppler widths in the layers of the photosphere to the chromosphere. However, it is quite expensive to apply the MLSI to a huge number of line profiles. For example, the calculating time is an hour to several hours depending on the size of the scan raster. We apply deep neural network (DNN) to the inversion code to reduce the cost of calculating the physical parameters. We train the models using pairs of absorption line profiles from FISS and their 13 physical parameters (source functions, Doppler velocities, Doppler widths in the chromosphere, and the pre-determined parameters for the photosphere) calculated from the spectral inversion code for 49 scan rasters (~2,000,000 dataset) including quiet and active regions. We use fully connected dense layers for training the model. In addition, we utilize a skip connection to avoid a problem of vanishing gradients. We evaluate the model by comparing the pairs of absorption line profiles and their inverted physical parameters from other quiet and active regions. Our result shows that the deep learning model successfully reproduces physical parameter maps of a scan raster observation per second within 15% of mean absolute percentage error and the mean squared error of 0.3 to 0.003 depending on the parameters. Taking this advantage of high performance of the deep learning model, we plan to provide the physical parameter maps from the FISS observations to understand the chromospheric plasma conditions in various solar features.

A scan order converter has to be placed before the JPEG encoder to provide $8{\times}8$ blocks from the pixels in raster scan order. Recently a hardware architecture has been proposed to implement a scan converter based on the single line memory. Since both read and write accesses happen at each cycle, however, the largest part of the entire power budget is occupied by the SRAM itself. In this paper, the data packing and unpacking procedure is inserted in the processing chain, such that the access frequency to the SRAM is reduced to 1/8 by adopting a packed larger data unit. The simulation results show that the resultant power consumption is reduced down to 16% for the SXGA resolution.
This study examines a non-contact laser scanning-based ultrasound system, called an angular scan pulse-echo ultrasonic propagation imager (A-PE-UPI), that uses coincided laser beams for ultrasonic sensing and generation. A laser Doppler vibrometer is used for sensing, while a diode pumped solid state (DPSS) Q-switched laser is used for generation of thermoelastic waves. A high-speed raster scanning of up to 10-kHz is achieved using a galvano-motorized mirror scanner that allows for coincided sensing and for the generation beam to perform two-dimensional scanning without causing any harm to the surface under inspection. This process allows for the visualization of longitudinal wave propagation through-the-thickness. A pulse-echo ultrasonic wave propagation imaging algorithm (PE-UWPI) is used for on-the-fly damage visualization of the structure. The presented system is very effective for high-speed, localized, non-contact, and non-destructive inspection of aerospace structures. The system is tested on an aluminum honeycomb sandwich with disbonds and a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) honeycomb sandwich with a layer overlap. Inspection is performed at a 10-kHz scanning speed that takes 16 seconds to scan a $100{\times}100mm^2$ area with a scan interval of 0.25 mm. Finally, a comparison is presented between angular-scanning and a linear-scanning-based pulse-echo UPI system. The results show that the proposed system can successfully visualize defects in the inspected specimens.
One of the recent and most significant technical properties can be expressed as "digital convergence," which is helping lead the technical paradigm into a ubiquitous environment. As an initial trial of realizing a ubiquitous environment, the convergence between broadcasting and telecommunication fields is now on the way, where it is required to develop a scalable video coding scheme for one-source and multi-use media. Traditional scalable video coding schemes have, however, limitations for higher stable picture quality especially on the region of interest. Therefore, this paper introduces an adaptive scanning method especially designed for a higher regional-stable picture quality under a ubiquitous video coding environment, which can improve the subjective quality of the decoded video by most-preferentially encoding, transmitting, and decoding the top-priority image information of the region of interest. Thus, the video can be more clearly visible to users. From various simulation results, the proposed scanning method in this paper can achieve an improved subjective picture quality far better than the widely used raster scan order in conventional video coding schemes, especially on the region of interest, and without a significant loss of quality in the left-over region.

Existing image scalers generally adopt simple interpolation methods such as bilinear method to take cost-benefit, or highly complex architectures to achieve high quality resulting images. However, demands for a low power, low cost, and high performance image scaler become more important because of emerging high quality mobile contents. In this paper we propose the novel low power hardware architecture for a high quality raster scan image scaler. The proposed scaler architecture enhances the existing cubic interpolation look-up table architecture by reducing and optimizing memory access and hardware components. The input data buffer of existing image scaler is replaced with line memories to reduce the number of memory access that is critical to power consumption. The cubic interpolation formula used in existing look-up table architecture is also rearranged to reduce the number of the multipliers and look-up table size. Finally we analyze the optimized parameter sets of look-up table, which is a trade-off between quality of result image and hardware size.

In this paper, we designed and tested of the passive millimeter-wave imaging system in near range. The proposed passive millimeter-wave imaging system consists two parts. The first part is a 94 GHz band millimeter imaging sensor which is coupled to an antenna, two LNAs, and a diode detector. The second part is a control unit. The control unit is consists of the 2-axes Cartesian robot, the data acquisition (DAQ), and imaging program. The 2-axes Cartesian robot should be able to scan a 2-D image of the metalic tools, IC card and plastic objects, with a raster scanning method. The passive millimeter-wave image of $20{\times}20$ pixels is acquired within less than 60s, and is immediately displayed and stored for post processing. In order to improve the image quality, interpolation methods are applied.

In the study, stereo-based of gamma-ray sources detector for the space including the gamma-ray source to scan in a raster scan method, and obtains a visible light image and the gamma-ray image. We went to retrieve and visualize the distance to source and the direction of the 3-dimension information from Stereo gamma-ray detectors. Configuration of the detector consisted of gamma-ray detecting sensor for gamma-ray Sources, pan-tilt for the scanning of the raster for detecting sources, and CCD camera for visible-light image. Implement a stereo structure of the device to measure the spatial distribution of source, the gamma-ray Detector and CCD camera for the stereo image acquisition was as each configuration 2. The gamma-ray detector and a visible light camera to revision the distribution of detection source, After performing each of the cameras of the stereo correction and shows the distribution of the gamma-ray Sources through 중첩 visible light image and the gamma-ray image. After Rectification process of Left and right image, we were derived visualization results of the stereo image.
Observations of line of sight (LOS) Doppler velocity and non-thermal line width in the off-limb solar corona are often used for investigating the Alfvén wave signatures in the corona. In this study, we compare LOS Doppler velocities and non-thermal line widths obtained simultaneously from two different instruments, Coronal Multichannel Polarimeter (CoMP) and Hinode/EUV Imaging Spectrometer (EIS), on various off-limb coronal regions: flaring and quiescent active regions, equatorial quiet region, and polar prominence and plume regions observed in 2012-2014. CoMP provides the polarization at the Fe xiii 10747 Å coronal forbidden lines which allows their spectral line intensity, LOS Doppler velocity, and line width to be measured with a low spectral resolution of 1.2 Å in 2-D off limb corona between 1.05 and 1.40 RSun, while Hinode/EIS gives us the EUV spectral information with a high spectral resolution (0.025 Å) in a limited field of view raster scan. In order to compare them, we make pseudo raster scan CoMP maps using information of each EIS scan slit time and position. We compare the CoMP and EIS spectroscopic maps by visual inspection, and examine their pixel to pixel correlations and percentages of pixel numbers satisfying the condition that the differences between CoMP and EIS spectroscopic quantities are within the EIS measurement accuracy: ±3 km s-1 for LOS Doppler velocity and ±9 km s-1 for non-thermal width. The main results are summarized as follows. By comparing CoMP and EIS Doppler velocity distributions, we find that they are consistent with each other overall in the active regions and equatorial quiet region (0.25 ≤ CC ≤ 0.7), while they are partially similar to each other in the overlying loops of prominences and near the bottom of the polar plume (0.02 ≤ CC ≤ 0.18). CoMP Doppler velocities are consistent with the EIS ones within the EIS measurement accuracy in most regions (≥ 87% of pixels) except for the polar region (45% of pixels). We find that CoMP and EIS non-thermal width distributions are similar overall in the active regions (0.06 ≤ CC ≤ 0.61), while they seem to be different in the others (-0.1 ≤ CC ≤ 0.00). CoMP non-thermal widths are similar to EIS ones within the EIS measurement accuracy in a quiescent active region (79% of pixels), while they do not match in the other regions (≤ 61% of pixels); the CoMP observations tend to underestimate the widths by about 20% to 40% compared to the EIS ones. Our results demonstrate that CoMP observations can provide reliable 2-D LOS Doppler velocity distributions on active regions and might provide their non-thermal width distributions.
A rotational pulse-echo ultrasonic propagation imager that can inspect cylindrical specimens for material nondestructive evaluations is proposed herein. In this system, a laser-generated ultrasonic bulk wave is used for inspection, which enables a clear visualization of subsurface defects with a precise reproduction of the damage shape and size. The ultrasonic waves are generated by a Q-switched laser that impinges on the outer surface of the specimen walls. The generated waves travel through the walls and their echo is detected by a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) at the same point. To obtain the optimal Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of the measured signal, the LDV requires the sensed surface to be at a right angle to the laser beam and at a predefined constant standoff distance from the laser head. For flat specimens, these constraints can be easily satisfied by performing a raster scan using a dual-axis linear stage. However, this arrangement cannot be used for cylindrical specimens owing to their curved nature. To inspect the cylindrical specimens, a circular scan technology is newly proposed for pulse-echo laser ultrasound. A rotational stage is coupled with a single-axis linear stage to inspect the desired area of the specimen. This system arrangement ensures that the standoff distance and beam incidence angle are maintained while the cylindrical specimen is being inspected. This enables the inspection of a curved specimen while maintaining the optimal SNR. The measurement result is displayed in parallel with the on-going inspection. The inspection data used in scanning are mapped from rotational coordinates to linear coordinates for visualization and post-processing of results. A graphical user interface software is implemented in C++ using a QT framework and controls all the individual blocks of the system and implements the necessary image processing, scan calculations, data acquisition, signal processing and result visualization.
