Processors require both intensive and extensive functional verification in their design phase due to their general purpose. The proposed random vector verification method for embedded control RISC cores meets this goal by contributing assistance for conventional methods. The proposed method proved its effectiveness during the design of CalmRISCTM-32 developed by Yonsei Univ. and Samsung. It adopts a cycle-accurate instruction level simulator as a reference model, runs simulation in both the reference and the target HDL and reports errors if any difference is found between them. Consequently, it successfully covers errors designers easily pass over and establishes other new error check points.

To determine the pin power distribution without disassembling, HANARO fuel assemblies are gamma-scanned and then the distribution is reconstructed tv using the tomography method. The iterative least squares method (ILSM and the wavelet singular value decomposition method (WSVD) are chosen to solve the problem. An optimal convergence criterion is used to stop the iteration algorithm to overcome the potential divergence in ILSM. WSVD gives better results than ILSM , and the average values from the two methods give the best results. The RMSE (root mean square errors) to the reference data are 5.1, 6.6, 5.0, 6.5, and 6.4% and the maximum relative errors are 10.2, 13.7, 12.2, 13.6, and 14.3%, respectively. It is found that the effect of random positions of the pins is important. Although the effect can be accommodated by the iterative calculations simulating the random positions, the use of experimental equipment with a slit covering the whole range of the assembly horizontally is recommended to obtain more accurate results. We made a new apparatus using the results of this study and are conducting an experiment in order to obtain more accurate results.

In this paper, an effective repeat-back jamming (RBJ) mitigation scheme known assuccessive repeat-back jamming cancellation (SRC) is proposed for the utilization of the successive interference cancellation (SIC) algorithm which is used to mitigate the near-far effect and the multiple-access interference for code division multiple-access communication systems. The proposed scheme uses a combined pseudo-random noise (C-PRN) signal from the estimated major parameters of RBJ signals. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, the root mean squared (RMS) code tracking errors are shown according to the standard deviation of the parameter estimation errors of an RBJ signal, and using the well-known major parameters estimation schemes with a C-PRN signal through Monte-Carlo simulation.
Three dimensional modeling for seafloor topography is essential to monitoring displacements in underwater structures as well as all sorts of disasters along the shore. MBES is a system that is capable of high-density water depth measurement for seafloor topography and is in broad uses for gathering 3D data and detecting displacements. MBES data, however, contain random errors that take place in the equipment offset and surveying process and require systematic researches on the correction of wrong depth measurements. Thus this study set out to propose a post-processing technique to eliminate an array of random errors taking place after equipment offset correction and basic noise correction in the MBES system and analyze its applicability to seafloor topography modeling by applying it to the subject area.
This paper presents an effective Markov transition matrix (EMTM), which will be used to calculate the wind speed at the target site in a wind farm to accurately predict wind energy production. The existing MTS prediction method using a Markov transition matrix (MTM) exhibits a limitation where significant prediction variations are observed owing to random selection errors and its bin width. The proposed method selects the effective states of the MTM and refines its bin width to reduce the error of random selection during a gap filling procedure in MTS. The EMTM reduces the level of variation in the repeated prediction of wind speed by using the coefficient of variations and range of variations. In a case study, MTS exhibited better performance than other MCP models when EMTM was applied to estimate a one-day wind speed, by using mean relative and root mean square errors.
The paper aims to analyze structure of I/Q data observed from radar and reliably estimate rainfall through quality control of I/Q data that can quantify uncertainty of I/Q data occurring due to resultant errors. Radar rainfall data have strong uncertainty due to various factors influencing quality. In order to reduce this uncertainty, previously enumerated errors in quality need to be eliminated. However, errors cannot be completely eliminated in some cases as seen in random errors, so uncertainty is necessarily involved in radar rainfall data. Multi-Lag Method, one of I/Q data quality control methods, was applied to estimate precipitation with regard to I/Q data of rainfall radar in Mt. Sobaek.

By comparing the measured optical reflection spectra with calculated one by the transfer-matrix method (TMM) in epitaxial wafers for vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), we have estimated the systematic thickness errors in a simple and nondestructive way. The experimentally confirmed technique is based on the finding that the shape of the reflection spectra depends mainly on a newly defined single parameter, the effective error in the n-mirror layers, and the thickness error in the active cavity simply shifts the Fabry-Perot resonance wavelength. Also shown is that the proposed method is reliable when the relative standard deviation of the random thickness errors is less than 0.005. Because reflection spectra are routinely measured, we can easily estimate the thickness errors nondestructively with high spatial resolution.

Most of the research in the area of wireless communications exclusively relies on simulations. Further, it is essential that the mobility management strategies and routing protocols should be validated under realistic conditions. Most appropriate mobility models play a pivotal role to determine, whether there is any subtle error or flaw in a proposed model. Simulators are the standard tool to evaluate the performance of mobility models however sometimes they suffer from numerous documented problems. To accomplish the widely acknowledged lack of formalization in this domain, a Coloured Petri nets (CPNs) based random direction mobility model for specification, analysis and validation is presented in this paper for wireless communications. The proposed model does not suffer from any border effect or speed decay issues. It is important to mention that capturing the mobility patterns through CPN is challenging task in this type of the research. Further, an appropriate formalism of CPNs supported to analyze the future system dynamic status. Finally the formal model is evaluated with the state space analysis to show how predefined behavioral properties can be applied. In addition, proposed model is evaluated based on generated simulations to track origins of errors during debugging.
A straightforward strategy for particle image velocimetry (PIV) interrogation and post-processing has been proposed, aiming at reducing errors and clarifying vortex structures. The interrogation window size should be kept small to reduce bias error and improve spatial resolution. A spatial filter is then applied to the velocity field to reduce random error and clarify flow structure. The performance of three popular spatial filters were assessed: box filter, median filter, and local quadratic polynomial regression filter. In order to quantify random uncertainty, the image matching (IM) method is applied to an experimental dataset of homogeneous and isotropic turbulence (HIT) obtained by 2D-PIV. We statistically analyze the uncertainty propagation through the spatial filters, and verify the reduction in random uncertainty. Moreover, we illustrate that the spatial filters help clarify vortex structures using vortex identification criteria. As a result, PIV random uncertainty was reduced and the vortex structures became clearer by spatial filtering.
In the applications of a human speech interface, reducing the error rate in recognition is the one of the main research issues. Many previous studies attempted to correct errors using post-processing, which is dependent on a manually constructed corpus and correction patterns. We propose an automatically learnable post-processing method that is independent of the characteristics of both the domain and the speech recognizer. We divide the entire post-processing task into two steps: error detection and error correction. We consider the error detection step as a classification problem for which we apply the conditional random fields (CRFs) classifier. Furthermore, we apply transformation-based learning (TBL) to the error correction step. Our experimental results indicate that the proposed method corrects a speech recognizer's insertion, deletion, and substitution errors by 25.85%, 3.57%, and 7.42%, respectively.
